Summer Workbook
You may recall Rosie, one of our Peer Trainers, compiling a Winter Workbook for all students to access over the winter holidays last year. Due to it’s success, students have requested one for the summer break.
Satpal, our newest Peer Trainer to the team has kindly compiled the Summer Workbook. It is in its final stages and will be sent to all students shortly. So keep your eyes peeled for it.
Summer playlist
During the Student Voice meeting in May, there was a suggestion to compile a summer playlist for students to have access to over the summer break. Since then an email was sent to all students inviting them to share songs that make them feel hopeful and happy.
This has been well received and now have many entries, both from students and our team. Thank you to everyone's song suggestions. Students will be notified when the playlist will go live.
Community events:
Listed below are some signposting to community events that are occuring over the summer.
These have been recommended by both students and staff:
In your community:
Home - Park Yoga
Art Trail - Light The South
Home - Wild In Art World
Supportoverthesummer:
If you were to build a model of the Eiffel Tower, out of food, just a small one, what type of food would you choose and why?
This is a fun activity to try for yourself over the summer. Reflecting on what support you currently have that is reliable and strong. Where are the areas you would like support in over the summer break?
If you are lacking support, then maybe consider where else you could look for that support eg: helplines, charities, work colleagues, Recovery College Summer Workbook, Padlet, and online videos on our website.

Support & supporters matter. What support we choose and why we choose them will have a impact on our wellbeing.
The wrong kind of support or absence of it, could have an effect on us. But the right support inspires us to move forward.
Student Voice
Our latest student Voice meeting was held online on 19th July which was very well attended. We discussed many items on the agenda, one being the theme for The Recovery College Extra. We watched a short video clip relating to a program that has been created by Action for Happiness, called 10 days of Happiness. Action for Happiness was created through the pandemic and has many areas to the platform. 10 days of happiness is free to sign up to and participate in. Consisting of daily 2 minute videos, sent to you either by text or email, relating to key areas of wellness. There is an area for you to participate in as well.
If you would like to take part in the Recovery College Extra on 29th August, then you will be required to take part in the 10 days of happiness beforehand, as this will be the topic that we will be discussing.
To attend, please book your place by contacting admin after 1st August
We look forward to seeing you there and the link is below:

Method
• STEP 1
Tip the strawberries into a blender, food processor or smoothie-maker and blitz to a purée Add the yogurt and blitz again to combine Taste for sweetness and add as much sugar or honey as needed – this will depend on the ripeness of the fruit as well as your personal taste.
• STEP 2

Switch it up....
Add other fruit or make them vegan by swapping the yoghurt for apple or orange juice and omit the honey.
If you don’t have lolly moulds, pour into an ice cube tray with blunt toothpicks Where there is a will, there is a way :)
Combatting loneliness over the summer break:
Feeling lonely? Many of us experience loneliness, especially during challenging times, but there are ways to combat it!
You could start by reaching out to friends, family, or colleagues even a quick chat can lift your spirits. Join clubs or groups that interest you, fostering new connections and hobbies could lead to meaningful friendships. Volunteering is another great way to meet people and feel good about helping others. These tips can help tackle the immediate feeling, but an important step to overcoming loneliness, is to acknowledge how it's impacting you, and seeking help from friends, family or mental health professionals.
