In the past it was not always easy for the guys to stay focused on good healthy skincare habits, but recently they are more in touch with understanding that looking good begins with good healthy habits, especially good skincare. In 2003 Wells Fargo (formerly Wachovia) brought the highly revered PGA Tour event to the grand stage at Quail Hollow Country Club. This year’s event closed out a fabulous tradition of golf and good times with memories to be cherished forever by Charlotte residents and visitors alike. It has been estimated that the economic impact from the event this year was more than $75 million to the Charlotte area.
Rory McIlroy won the Wells Fargo Championship this year for a record fourth time with another dominating performance at Quail Hollow, overcoming a two-stroke deficit to beat Xander Schauffele by five shots.
As Wells Fargo exits its sponsorship of the PGA tournament, Truist Financial Corporation will become the sponsor when the much, anticipated event returns to Charlotte in 2026. It will be absent from Quail Hollow in 2025 since Quail Hollow will host the PGA Championship for the second time in 2025.
When the Wells Fargo tournament was founded in 2003, the bank created a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation titled Champions for Education, based in Charlotte, NC to receive benefits from the tournament. Since 2003, the Wells Fargo Championship raised over $30 million for charity causes as well as increased awareness for numerous local non-profit organizations.
More than 300 influential community and business leaders enjoyed an elegant evening at The Westin Charlotte to celebrate the lives of loved ones impacted by dementia and raise funds to underwrite the Association’s support, education, advocacy and research efforts
The event featured entertainment by The Herringbones, a wine and restaurant pull, a live painter, and silent and live auctions. Guests topped off the evening with a celebration and dancing. Mistress of Ceremonies for the event was Kristen Miranda, anchor and reporter from WBTV. In addition, the 2024 event was chaired by wellknown members of the Charlotte business community,

The Golf Club at Longview is the centerpiece of a magnificent Club at Longview, located in Waxhaw, making it one of the area’s premiere locations for the ultimate in suburban living.
Written by: Effie Russell | Photography by: The Club at Longview
Longview dates back to the 1800s, originally known as The Longview Black Jack Farm. In 1953, Mel Graham’s father purchased a small portion of the property as an annex to the Graham Dairy Farm. Decades later, Mel began purchasing any land attached to his dad’s small farm, eventually assembling property that spanned more than 1,000 acres.
In 2001, Mel decided the time was right to put his vision for what would
become The Club at Longview into action. When a commitment is made to create the region’s finest golf community, dedicated to excellence without compromise, who else would one turn to but Jack Nicklaus? More than just another golf course, Longview is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, a designation that signifies his deep and abiding involvement in every design decision made.
As Jack Nicklaus stood on the property and looked at the gently rolling hills with its pines and hardwoods, creeks, ponds, and nature preserves, he reflected, “It’s as if it was always meant to be the home of a great golf course.” Two years later, on October 20, 2003, The Club at Longview officially opened.
The old-world charm and architecture found throughout the Club at Longview and the surrounding community is a direct result of Mel’s travels throughout Europe. The architecture withstands the test of time and improves with age.
In 2022, Concert Golf Partner was chosen as the long-term successor for the Club, bringing with them an infusion of capital that has translated into a variety of updates and projects for the facility. Concert’s insistence on excellence and quality, along with a fantastic professional staff, are some of
the many things that will continue to make Longview a special place. Growth in club memberships with golf remains a core focus for the Club at Longview. Memberships are available at various levels to benefit families and individuals.
The Golf Experience at Longview Golf professionals oversee programs for
ladies, men, seniors, juniors, and couples to ensure members and guests can make the most of The Club at Longview’s golf amenities. Lessons are available for all members, regardless of skill level, and are offered in the practice areas or on the golf course.
The Golf Shop stocks the latest trends and technology in equipment and
apparel and accommodates special order requests from popular vendors. The golf professionals at Longview are happy to provide members with one-on-one fittings, from putters to drivers, utilizing multiple fitting strategies to ensure you get the best fit for your game.
Excellence on the Course
Challenging, yet not daunting, and fun to play without being easy, the Jack Nicklaus
Signature Course at Longview embodies the finest expression of a true master’s art. With its rolling hills, tree-lined fairways, elevation changes, and abundant water features spread over 160 acres, it is perhaps the most perfectly suited natural site for outstanding golf in the area.
As one of the top North Carolina golf clubs, Longview offers 18 holes of Signature Golf with greens that average 5,500 square feet in addition to generous practice areas located near the clubhouse. With a full-service practice range, three separate putting and chipping surfaces, and on-site professional instruction, Longview provides ample room to enhance and develop your game.

If you want excitement while driving an SUV then you have to explore the road in a Mercedes-Benz G-Class. If you want to buy one, you’ll have to hurry to get yours soon because the demand for this rugged vehicle is growing every day. MercedesBenz of South Charlotte can’t keep them on the lot and if yours is not there then a team member will be pleased to add your name to their back-order list.
• Engine 3.0L inline-6 turbo with hybrid assist and electric auxiliary compressor
• Power 443 hp @ 6,100 rpm
• Torque 413 lb-ft @ 1,950-5,500 rpm
• Compression ratio 10.5:1
• Construction Diecast alloy block and alloy head
What makes this luxury vehicle so special? The latest G-Class continues the success story of the model series that was established in 1979. The off-road icon continues to rely on tried-and-tested ladder-frame construction, three mechanical differential locks and low range off-road reduction as well as a rigid rear axle and independent front suspension. The redesigned off-road control unit, the new off-road cockpit and the “transparent bonnet” enable a digital off-road experience. Thanks to electrification, the new models offer improved responsiveness off-road and greater comfort on paved roads. The mild hybrids with an integrated starter-generator and a 48-volt on-board electrical system also impress
with increased performance and reduced fuel consumption.
With the Mercedes-Benz user experience info-entertainment system and 12.3-inch driver and media displays featuring touch control, the new G-Class is more connected than ever. A host of advanced safety and assistance systems
also support drivers better than ever before. The range for extensive customization of both the exterior and the interior have been expanded once again. The subtly modified exterior with its new radiator grille featuring four instead of the previous three horizontal louvres have redesigned bumpers both front and rear. New A-pillar cladding, a spoiler lip on the roof edge and new insulation materials contribute to improved aerodynamics and increased acoustic comfort.
Enjoy the ride!

For 10 years Mary and Craig Gills have provided some of the best grills on the market at Backyard Flavor and they specialize in the Green Mountain wood pellet grills. Their current shop is located in the new Southern Lion on the lower level at Carolina Place Mall in Pineville.
Wood fired grilling science can provide the most convenient and unique grilling experiences. To begin with, these wood pellet grills are electric which allows cooking anywhere, or on any surface including wooden decks, making wood pellet grills great for apartment, townhome or condominium dwellers. There are no dangers from flames, propane or gas. At the same time, there is no sacrifice in flavor. The wood pellets provide the most flavorful, wood smoked taste to compliment all meats, seafoods, vegetables and even pizzas, breads or desserts. Wood pellet grilling offers the ultimate in cooking options for grilling, smoking or baking.
Green Mountain Grills are designed to take you to the summit of outdoor cooking greatness. From digital controls to efficient design, these pellet grills deliver incredible value for backyard chefs who crave convenience as much as they yearn for wood-fired flavor. Every Green Mountain grill features a digital Wi-Fi controller that pairs with the Green Mountain grill smartphone app for setting timers, receiving alerts, creating fully customizable cooking profiles, and mobile
monitoring via Server Mode. The smart controls continue with Sense-Mate, a thermal sensor that fires up the grill’s Turbo mode in cold conditions so you can feast without a long preheat.
Green Mountain Grills provide peak performance at every step of the cooking process, most notably the venturi-style firebox and its resulting burn-pot cyclone that produces maximum heat, optimal flavor
distribution, and complete combustion with zero waste. Above the firebox sits a stainless-steel heat shield, expertly designed to evenly distribute heat within the convection-style grill chamber with a variable-speed, dual-fan system. It precisely maintains temperature and prevents hopper burn-back, with an automatic shutoff setting that blows ash out of the firebox to save cleanup time.
The lid of every Green Mountain wood pellet grill has a peaked design to fit truly mountainous food items, from large turkeys and stand-up chickens to multi-level rib racks and sausage hangers. Better yet, Green Mountain hardwood pellet grills feature stainless steel cooking grates for superior heat retention and durability, along with at least one meat probe to let you monitor food’s internal temperature. Freestanding models, meanwhile, include a side convenience tray with tool
hooks for all your BBQ accessories. The science of cooking with wood pellets will keep the most intense grilling expert engaged and entertained for a long period of time, but the true satisfaction comes from the taste of the food that comes off the grill.

Effie Russell and Melissa Latin
For your pleasure, Melissa Latin, our social media director has created delicious meals for the grilling season. The first meal features steak or any protein and vegetables that are best grilled. The second can be prepared on the grill or in the oven.
This meal is balanced and loaded with fresh vegetables and lean protein that are healthy and nutritious. With simple ingredients and straightforward instructions, you can have a healthy meal directly from the grill and on your table in minutes. It’s a versatile and customizable array of protein and vegetables allowing you to adjust the ingredients and quantities according to your needs. You can substitute steak with chicken, salmon or any other protein to make the meal uniquely yours. This Grilled Steak Board is a sure way to wow your guests, and it’s easy to serve family-style, too!
Remove four ribeye steaks or other protein from the refrigerator about an hour before grilling. Season by coating with olive oil, salt and black pepper.
In addition to zucchini, yellow squash and bell peppers, you may choose other vegetables that work well for grilling including eggplant, asparagus, butternut squash, acorn squash, poblano peppers or

other peppers, parboiled sweet or other potatoes, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, lemons or anything else. Season by tossing in a bowl with olive oil, salt and black pepper.
Heat the grill to medium-high. Grill the vegetables first, until they are slightly tender with a bit of crunch. Reserve the vegetables on the rack of the grill while the steaks are grilling.
Keep the grill’s heat at mediumhigh to achieve a nice sear on both sides of the steaks. Remove the steaks from the direct heat, place the lid on the grill, and finish cooking to your desired temperature or 3-4 minutes for medium rare. Move the steaks to a platter and allow them to rest, tented with foil, for a few minutes. Cut the steaks or protein into the sizes that your guests will enjoy best.
Scatter the grilled vegetables around and on top of the protein on the board.
Chimichurri Sauce traditionally made of fresh parsley, garlic, olive oil, vinegar and red pepper is ideal as a flavorful condiment, marinade or dressing to serve with the board.
