Free zone. A place where no aircraft will launch their bombs. Free space of projection without distinction of sex, religion, ethnicity and other illusory categories. Place inhabited by people.

People who want to talk, exchange opinions, hug each other (yes, it has not yet gone out of fashion), tune in together in the vision of short films from around the world. The screen. Place of the free imagination along whose (fake) borders develop stories that cross borders, customs, embargoes, prohibitions and censorship. Free zone. Conflictfree zone, or where conflicts can become dialogue. This will be SorsiCorti XVI. Short film festival, wine and meeting people in a free space.

Along the journey Kirmeta becomes increasingly resistant and runs away to escape his bloody fate.

The film explores the dreams of World War II America through imagery based on 1943 teacher aid posters called Our America which were distributed to schools throughout the U.S.. From the vantage point of nearly a century later, the film examines how the innocent, celebratory intent of American ingenuity has led us on a path of unintended consequences.

"Our America" è una breve riflessione non discorsiva sulle promesse industriali americane del XX secolo che non sono state mantenute. Il film esplora i sogni dell'America della Seconda Guerra Mondiale attraverso immagini basate su poster esemplificativi per insegnanti del 1943 chiamati Our America che furono distribuiti alle scuole di tutti gli Stati Uniti. Looking for a framing that worthily represents him, the character guidarello embarks on a path studded with both physical and material evidence. He falls, breaks, gets up, falls, crawls, gets dirty, gets up again. The world, mediated by his cell phone, is shattered. Lost in the material reality that surrounds him, he manages to overcome it, to see the colors, smells and shades, never perceived before. The designs are all hand made on glossy sheets and have been colored and computer modified. The animation was made with a mixed technique between stop motion and computer graphics.

Alla ricerca di un’inquadratura che lo rappresenti degnamente, il personaggio guidarello, intraprende un cammino costellato da prove sia fisiche sia materiali. Cade, si rompe, si rialza, ricade, striscia, si sporca, si risolleva. Il mondo, mediato dal suo cellulare è in frantumi. Perso nella realtà materiale che lo circonda, riesce a superarla, a vedere i colori, gli odori e le sfumature, mai percepite prima d’ora. I disegni sono tutti realizzati a mano su fogli lucidi e sono stati colorati e modificati al computer. L’animazione è stata realizzata con una tecnica mista tra stop motion e computer-grafica.

Corrado Fortuna is an Italian actor, director, television host and witer.

He debuted in 2002 with the title role in the film My Name Is Tanino, directed by Paolo Virzì.

In 2003 he played the title role in an autobiographical drama film that marked the directorial debut by singer-songwriter Franco Battiato, Perdutoamor. Thanks to his performance in My Name Is Tanino and Perdutoamor, in 2004 he won the “Guglielmo Biraghi” prize awarded by Italian Film Journalists Union.

Corrado Fortuna è un attore, regista, conduttore televisivo e scrittore.

Debutta nel 2002 con il ruolo del protagonista Tanino nel film My Name Is Tanino, regia di Paolo Virzì.

Nel 2003 è sul grande schermo anche come protagonista dell’opera prima di Franco Battiato, Perdutoamor. Grazie alla sua interpretazione in My Name Is Tanino e Perdutoamor, nel 2004 vince il Premio Guglielmo Biraghi.

Da allora ha partecipato come attore a oltre 40 produzioni per il cinema e per la tv, lavorando tra gli altri con Giuseppe Tornatore, Woody Allen, Riccardo Milani.

Since then he has participated as an actor in over 40 productions for cinema and television, working among others with Giuseppe Tornatore, Woody Allen, Riccardo Milani.

Over the years he developed, at the same time as his acting career, an activity as a documentary and video clip director with ClubSilencio, a production company he founded together with his partner Gaspare Pellegrino.

In 2014 he published his first novel, Un giorno sarai un posto bellissimo, followed in 2018 by L’amore capovolto and in 2021 by L’ultimo lupo.

Negli anni sviluppa, contemporaneamente alla carriera di attore, un’attività di regista di documentari e videoclip con la ClubSilencio, casa di produzione da lui fondata insieme col socio Gaspare Pellegrino.

Nel 2014 pubblica il suo primo romanzo, Un giorno sarai un posto bellissimo, seguito nel 2018 da L’amore capovolto e nel 2021 da L’ultimo lupo.

Mohammad Reza Moradi is an Iranian director.

Cinema graduate of the Iranian Youth Cinema Association, he realized 7 short films, Memory Frame, The sound of the earth, Ayat Curly, Qajri Trio, Paper Life, Dualpa, Rangarag, selected in several festivals.

He is currently in the pre-production of a new film, co-production of Iran and Austria.

The film “Dualpa” is the winner of several awards, including the Best Short Film Award at the XV Edition of SorsiCorti Short Film Festival.

Mohammad Reza Moradi è un regista iraniano.

Laureato in cinema all’Iranian Youth Cinema Association, ha realizzato 7 cortometraggi, Memory Frame, The sound of the earth, Ayat Curly, Qajri Trio, Paper Life, Dualpa, Rangarag, selezionati in diversi festival.

Attualmente è alla pre-produzione di un nuovo film, co-produzione di Iran e Austria.

Il film “Dualpa” è vincitore di diversi premi, tra cui il Premio come Miglior Cortometraggio alla XV Edizione di SorsiCorti Short Film Festival.

Director and author, she lives and works in Palermo, where she was born.

Since the beginning of his career, her work has been recognized and awarded in national and international competitions (among others: Premio Scenario Ustica, Festival di regia Fantasio Piccoli, La scena dei Piccoli…).

Her texts scrutinize the human soul and its contradictions and represent it with an ironic and sarcastic look; her research is aimed at investigating the mystery of reality.

IT Regista e autrice, vive e lavora a Palermo, dov’è nata.

Sin dall’inizio della sua carriera, il suo lavoro è stato riconosciuto e premiato in concorsi nazionali ed internazionali (fra gli altri: Premio Scenario Ustica, Festival di regia Fantasio Piccoli, La scena dei Piccoli…).

I suoi testi scrutano l’animo umano e le sue contraddizioni e lo rappresentano con uno sguardo ironico e sarcastico; la sua ricerca è volta a indagare il mistero della realtà.

ANGELO SIcURELLA

Angelo Sicurella is a singer, musician and composer of electronic music. His is a work of experimentation and mixing between classical and secular music with contemporary electronic sounds. He often combines ambient and techno using analog instrumentation.

He has released two albums, Orfani per desiderio (2015) and Yuki O (2017). He has worked with theatre, dance, cinema and sound painting (with Igor Scalisi Palminteri) for some time.

He currently collaborates with several artists, Masbedo in Manifesta12, Vittorio Cosma in the writing of soundtracks, Elisa Giardina Papa in the sound design of an opera at the Venice Biennale.

Angelo Sicurella è un cantante, musicista e compositore di musica elettronica. Il suo è un lavoro di sperimentazione e di commistioni tra musica classica e profana con suoni elettronici contemporanei. Spesso combina ambient e techno usando strumentazione analogica.

Il demone Dualpa rappresenta le frustrazioni, le ansie e i desideri che ogni uomo si porta addosso, che lo legano e quasi schiacciano con il loro peso. Il film recupera il significato profondo di questa creatura mitica, attingendola da una cultura ancestrale e restituendola al mondo contemporaneo attraverso una storia narrata con grande accuratezza tecnica e la brillante interpretazione degli attori protagonisti.

Although “Frames” has been created before the emerging of the pandemic phenomenon, of which today we are all hostage and victim of the context, Farhad Pakdel manages to anticipate the sensations of social distancing that are now common for any citizen of the world. The director, in fact, driven by an accurate socio-anthropological analysis of a world to be realized, imagines a futuristic Montreal, in which we observe, through the silent eyes of a walking woman, the consummation of a society that realies on the algorithms of the networks so much so that they no longer have to communicate in any way with those they meet in everyday life: everything is recorded, through an innovative technology, and the analysis of the data, suitably analyzed by a central system, allows them to define their social status, eliminating any more intimate reflection as well as any emotional interaction. In this silent drama that is “Frames”, in which the protagonist’s depression is consummated, isolated and detached from any social context, Pakdel attains his goal to clearly bring out the

distance that is created behind every gesture expressed, but yet not declared, as he wanted to invite us to regain control of ourselves, predicting our imminent slavery from a system that, by making our every gesture more immediate and simple, nevertheless deprives us of our most intimate freedom

Benché “Frames” sia stato realizzato prima del realizzarsi del fenomeno pandemico, di cui siamo oggi tutti quanti ostaggio e vittima del contesto, Farhad Pakdel riesce ad anticipare delle sensazioni di distanziamento sociale che oggi sono comuni per qualsiasi cittadino del mondo. Il regista, infatti, sospinto da un’accurata analisi socioantropologica di un mondo da realizzarsi, immagina un avveniristica Montreal, nella quale osserviamo, attraverso i silenti occhi di una donna che cammina, il consumarsi di una società che dipende dagli algoritmi delle reti sociali tanto da non dovere più comunicare in alcun modo con chi incontra nel quotidiano: tutto viene registrato, attraverso una tecnologia innovativa, e l’analisi dei dati, opportunamente analizzati da un sistema centrale, permettono di definirne lo stato sociale, azzerando ogni più intima riflessione come pure ogni interazione emotiva. In questo muto dramma che è “Frames”, in cui si consuma la depressione della protagonista, isolata e avulsa da ogni contesto sociale, Pakdel riesce a far emergere con chiarezza la distanza che si crea dietro ogni gesto espresso, ma non dichiarato come volesse invitarci a riprendere il controllo di noi stessi, predicendo la nostra imminente schiavitù da un sistema che, rendendo ogni nostro gesto più immediato e semplice, ci priva tuttavia della nostra più intima libertà.
