Good afternoon, everyone and welcome to our first home game of the new season against Maidenhead United
I hope everyone shares my sense of excitement for the upcoming campaign which I am sure will have its ups and downs but we do believe we have had a successful recruitment period over the summer and, all things being equal, we have a competitive squad, with good options in most positions and a great mix of experience and youth.
As I said at the recent fans forum, it is a pleasure and privilege to be Chairman of Moors. In my view, we are a wonderful family and community club who share common values and this drives the culture and togetherness which enables us to compete against our wealthier rivals.
Led by Stephen Ward and Andy Whing, we have a superb team on the coaching and recruitment side, a fantastic group on the administrative side, and, of course. our excellent Foundation, umbilically linked to the club, does so much to contribute to the local community.
The Forum raised a fair number of excellent questions and issues which I will address over the next few sets of notes
Today, I’d like to mention specifically to join all elements of the club together more effectively, to both further improve the match day experience, especially for families, and increase attendances towards 2000 per game on a regular basis
We are working closely, and will do so increasingly, with SMSA and have an action list of plans to implement throughout the season and, similarly, we are working closely with the Foundation to engage more actively
with local schools to promote the club, better and more regular appearances from players and management and much improved engagement with our Youth and Junior teams, especially directly with coaches and parents
Next week, I’ll announce a brilliant new 3 year partnership with a local business to sponsor the family stand and the front of Y&J kit, which will also be part of a plan to broaden the range of family orientated match day activities.
Legitimately, the question was asked at the Forum as to what else can we do to increase attendances.
Finally, another good question from the Forum was whether there will be any hangover this season after the two Wembley penalty losses, especially in the light of two seasons agi
My sense, and Whingy and Wardy echoed this, is that will not happen There is a sense of anticipation and excitement around the first team with a good balanced of continuity and new faces and a real desire to have a real go this season
Thanks as ever to everyone for your support and let’s all enjoy the season ahead
We hope the above plans will address this in part but, equally, with no legacy fan base, I hope each of us will work on encouraging friends and family to come and support the Moors - solving this really needs a team effort!
PRE-MATCH WITH THE
Solihull Moors were held to a goalless draw in our final pre-season friendly against League Two opposition.
n the twenty fourth minute Moors had a great chance to take the lead after Stevens had a fantastic run down the left-hand side and set up Warburton whose effort went wide.
Moors had the best chance of the game so far in the seventy fifth minute after Stevens put a ball across the face of the box to the far post, but Stevenson’s effort could only find the side netting.
In the eighty seventh minute a Walsall breakaway nearly presented a late winner, but Maher’s shot was blocked and resulted into a save from Walker which was the final opportunity as the game ended all square.
Solihull Moors’ 2024/25 National League campaign began with a 3-2 defeat at Mill Park against AFC Fylde, with Nick Haughton scoring three goals.
The hosts took the lead through their top-scorer from last season Nick Haughton. A free kick from the left-hand side of the box was curled in by Haughton into the top corner to make it 1-0.
On the half an hour mark, the Moors found their equaliser after Matty Warburton played Joe Newton on the overlap. The fullback’s deflected cross was turned in by Fylde’s Owen Evans to make it 1-1.

Nathan Blissett netted an opening day goal as Solihull Moors drew 2-2 at Harrogate Town in a thrilling opening day match in the National League.
6 foot 5” frontman Blissett gave the visitors the lead after 35 minutes with a header after strike partner Paul McCallum had missed an 18th minute penalty
McCallum netted his first goal for his new club since signing from Eastleigh to level proceedings nine minutes later before Harrogate then also missed a penalty of their own, Brendan Kiernan firing over on his debut.

Solihull Moors Women return to FA Women’s National League action as they take on Sutton Coldfield Town Women at Studley Sports Centre on Sunday 18th August, 3pm KO.
The Royals have signed several former Moors players heading into the clash after Tom Blaymires side finished two points above their opponent’s last season adding further bragging rights on the line.
Last time out against Sutton Coldfield Town, the Moors were victorious across both fixtures winning 2-0 both home and away.
The Moors Women will also be lining up in the brand new 2024/25 kit in partnership with Macron as well!
The Midlands Floodlit Youth League got off to a winning start for the next generation of Solihull Moors players after a 3-1 away win at Rugby Borough.
It took 30 minutes for the Elite Academy to take the lead against the hosts, with Omari Brown scoring the first goal of the season for the young Moors outfit.
The first goal came through some link-up play down the left-hand side between Watts and Brown with the latter beating his man at the far post allowing for him to tuck his effort into the back of the net.
Five minutes later, Brown was at it again! More link-up play between Moseley and Pearsall this time followed with the latter finding Brown in the box who was able to tap home for a second.
Solihull would also get a penalty in the 60th minute but the Rugby keeper was able to deny Brown for his hat-trick.
A third followed for Moors through Billy Fielding late on to wrap up all three points on a counter-attack where the forward then tapped home to secure the win.
Welcome to Damson Park, Maidenhead United!
For our first home fixture, we welcome the Magpies to our home in the second gameweek of the Vanarama National League.

Hi everyone!
Welcome to Damson Park for our first home league fixture of the 2024/25 season as we take on Maidenhead United.
As the Club’s media officer, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce this new section in our digital programme this season.
Each week, this section will walk you through what a working week is like at Solihull Moors and how we get ready for a matchday.
In my role, I handle all of the social media channels and website, following the team up and down the country during the highs and low’s which our loyal supporters also witness.
No two days are the same, it’s an exciting role and is extremely rewarding. Less said about last season the better, but what a rollercoaster ride it was!
Working with this group of players and Andy Whing is surreal, they’re a brilliant bunch to work with and make those long journey’s up to Gateshead worth it.
Having started as a volunteer here, to work full-time for this growing and exciting club is a true pleasure and I look forward to the season ahead travelling up and down the country creating more social media content for our supporters.
Let’s go one step further this year - COME ON YOU MOORS!

We started coming to the Moors during the 21/22 season. Dean and Noah were Blues season ticket holders but problems in the stadium meant they couldn’t have their seats. Needing a football fix they thought they’d head to their local club for the very first time. One game and they were hooked! Noah loved how close he was to all the action at the Moors and the fact that he could chat to the players and get autographs.
Later on in the season we decided to organise a social for Noah’s footie team to a Moors match and I went along too It was a brilliant day and the team were so excited to be made to feel so special - meeting players, buying scarves, enjoying watching a football match all together and getting autographs afterwards too I loved the family friendly atmosphere and the community feel.
The four of us have now been season ticket holders for a couple of years. Now Noah and Leila are a bit older we’ve also ventured further afield and been to a few away days which we’ve always enjoyed - especially Bromley and Barnet last year of course, when we made it to Wembley - what a feeling at the end of those matches! The familiar faces home and away are always welcoming and this helps the kids feel happy and safe, especially when visiting different grounds.
Over the last few years we’ve been well and truly embraced into the Moors family by the staff, players and fans Noah and Leila have had so many amazing experiences thanks to this Club and the people here, for which we are incredibly grateful We also try to do our bit by volunteering for both the Club and the Moors Foundation when we can, including being on the SMSA Being a smaller non league club means volunteers are absolutely crucial so we’d encourage other people to get involved when they can!
What a season it was in 23/24 visiting Wembley twice and getting so close to League 2 and some silverware! Despite it ending in heartbreak, we have so many fantastic memories. We’re ready and on board for whatever this season brings Come on you Moors!
A little bit about myself to start with, a lot of you will know me already, I’m Richard King or better known around these parts as ‘Dicky’, this is my 8th season as a volunteer match day photographer and I do home and away where possible, I also now cover the Academy and the some of the various Moors Foundations sides including the women’s teams.
My 1st Moor Green was nearly 50 years ago and I used to attend the odd game here and there over the years, I became a ‘regular’ Solihull Moors supporter about 12 seasons ago, and progressively started going to more away games as the years rolled by.
5/ Lozza taken during the warm up, thought the net, there is just enough of the net shown on the picture, I usually try to capture the goalkeepers in the games I attend, with the net in the frame, probably the best one so far, Lozza is a typical goalkeeper ‘A little bit nut’s’ this is where a good relationship between the subject and photographer is important.
4/ Another picture taken during the warm up Stevo peeping through the mannequin, smashing lad is Jack, he’s always on to me for pictures, he says they’re for his Mother, I’m not so sure.
3/ Pinno making his league debut for Moors, the ball is off the ground with the player looking at it, this is the type of picture I like, when the local press ask me for pictures of a certain player this is the kind they usually print from the selection I send.
2/ The wall jumping, unfortunately they didn’t need to as the ball has been placed underneath them
1/ Fin Holmes, another player making his debut for Moors, I’ve watched Fin over the last two seasons play not only against Moors Academy sides for Stourbridge and also whist he was on loan at Studley last season, Fin is an exciting young player with a very bright future in the game.
I’ve included this picture not for the framing etc, but for the subject, always great to see young talent that I’ve seen play for Academies or lower step teams breakthrough into the Moors team.
