BOXY

Boxy, a Social Enterprise Business set up by 12 Sixth Form Students at Kings Norton Sixth Form, is excited to launch its Football Boot Donation Programme, in its push to reduce waste whilst encouraging young people to participate in sports.

Boxy has been set up as part of the Young Enterprise Company Programme and as a social enterprise they trade for social and environmental purposes, with a dedication to reducing waste whilst promoting youth sports participation.

The Boxy Football Boot Donation programme aims to provide children in need with access to upcycled boots, ensuring they can participate in football regardless of financial constraints.

Jake Williams Managing Director of Boxy said “We believe that no young person should ever be declined the chance to partake in sports because they can’t afford the ridiculous price of a typical pair of football boots, and we hope our initiative will help young people and give them the opportunity to get involved in sports.”

How You Can Support

Have you got a spare pair of boots sitting around at your house collecting dust?

On the 22nd March, 2025, Boxy will be attending the Solihull Moors Football Club game against Yeovil Town, and will be positioned at the entrance to the club collecting any donations of second-hand football boots from members of the public, there will also be an opportunity to make financial donations, no matter how small, to support our initiative.

Boxy look forward to taking any boot donations off your hands and giving them a new lease of life.

Please support and follow the Boxy journey by following us on Instagram or TikTok @boxyboots or please contact us at: boxyboots@outlook.com

chairman notes

Welcome to one and all to today’s game against Yeovil Town and especially the players, supporters and officials from our visitors.

I’ll start today’s notes by echoing Richard Stearman’s comments after the loss against Tamworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday

Against a near full strength Tamworth side, our largely Academy populated side put in a stirling performance and the ultimate score line didn’t justice to what was a close game.

We come into today’s game after a resilient performance at Hartlepool last Saturday, where we gained a hard earned point.

Matt continues to need to juggle resources but hopefully Jamey Osborne will be back today although we are likely to still to be without Jack Stevens

This limits our options at the top end of the pitch but there is more promising news on this front, with Jack likely to be back next week, Conor Wilkinson back for the last 4 or 5 games of the season and I’m also delighted for Tahvon Campbell as he is back on the grass.

In the meantime, what an impact Manny Duku has made! Moreover he plays with a smile on his face and he is a pleasure to work with

With 9 games to go, we are aiming for a strong finish to the season, but this will need to be based on resilience and defensive organisation until our attacking options improve.

A surprising and disappointing feature of the season has been our inability to keep clean sheets. I think we have only done this 4 times this season when we are usually in the mid to high teens on this metric.

This is something Matt is acutely aware of and is actively addressing.

Today is also Non-League day so I hope we will welcome fans from all Midlands clubs to Moors today and hopefully increasing the gate and generating a great atmosphere

We are proud to welcome Acorns Children’s Hospice back to Damson Park for another special charity matchday. Supporting this incredible cause is a privilege, and we ’ re delighted to raise awareness and funds for the vital care they provide. Our players will wear bespoke Acorns shirts, and I encourage all Moors fans to get involved

In closing, I wanted to briefly pay my own respects to Eddie Jordan who sadly passed away this week

Eddie was an icon of Formula 1 and a trailblazer in so many respects. They truly broke the mould when they made Eddie and whilst not always politically correct, you always knew where you stood with him.

He was a great help to me when I was Chairman of the Marussia F1 team, albeit often questioning my sanity, and become a good friend. We even had a couple of business ventures together including the British heritage brand, Debrett’s, which we were and are in the process of relaunching.

Most of all, he was a constant reminder that life is wonderful, it is for living, that adversity should make you stronger and opportunities are everywhere if you open your eyes

He will be sadly missed by many but never ever forgotten.

Best wishes, Darryl Eales

COUNT DUKU STRIKES AGAIN

Solihull Moors extended their unbeaten run as Manny Duku’s late header salvaged a crucial point on the road against Hartlepool United.

The striker, who has now netted three goals in two games, continues to be a driving force for his team as they push forward in their campaign.

Duku’s equaliser came at a pivotal moment, ensuring his side remained undefeated in their last three outings Reflecting on his form, the forward expressed his growing confidence: “Yeah, a lot of confidence, obviously coming into the squad short-term to the end of the season. Getting the goals, obviously important goals last week, getting the winner yeah, two goals, one of them was a winner. And then today, getting the equalizer towards the end, so yeah, it feels great.” I

Joining a team late in the season can be a challenge, but the Dutchman has quickly settled in, crediting his teammates for their support. “Yeah, to be fair, it's not even halfway. It's like three quarters, but yeah, it's good. The group is a good group. So they've made me really feel welcome, and you can see on the pitch I feel free. My head is clear, and I'm just enjoying it. It’s nice to be important for the team as well.”

Remarkably, all three of Duku’s recent goals have come from headers, something he finds amusing. “Yeah, it’s unbelievable to be fair. I was saying in the changing room, the boys gave me some chances to score with my feet, to be fair. So, yeah, but as long as I score, I don’t care. If it’s 30 goals with my head, as long as they go in, I don’t mind.”

With three games unbeaten, Moors are looking to build on their momentum as they approach the final stretch of the season

Duku emphasised the importance of consistency: “Yeah definitely. It’s very important that we gel together and get some more wins. Obviously, don’t lose that’s the most important. But yeah, staying on our feet is very important for us. ”

Solihull Moors secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town at Huish Park, thanks to Conor Wilkinson’s first league goal of the season. The striker capitalized on a long ball over the top, spotting the goalkeeper off his line and executing a clever chip to give the Moors an early lead. Wilkinson nearly doubled the advantage soon after, but his shot struck the post, while Yeovil came close to equalizing when Brett McGavin’s deflected free kick hit the crossbar.

The second half saw Yeovil pressing for an equaliser, hitting the bar again through Michael Smith’s effort. The Moors, however, remained a threat on the counterattack, with Joe Newton and Sam Bowen both coming close to adding a second. Yeovil thought they had drawn level late on when Jake Wannell headed home from a free kick, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Despite late pressure from the hosts, Solihull Moors held firm to claim their second away win of the campaign.

Solihull Moors exited the Birmingham Senior Cup after a 4-1 defeat to Tamworth, despite a spirited performance from a youthful side.

The Moors started brightly, pressing high and creating early chances, but Tamworth took the lead through Daniel Waldron’s composed finish. The home side continued to apply pressure, and while Fletcher Holman came close to equalising just before halftime, Moors went into the break trailing.

After the interval, Solihull pushed for a way back into the game, with Holman and Tyler Bruck linking up well in attack. Their persistence paid off when substitute Fin Holmes helped set up Bruck to pull one back in the 64th minute. However, Tamworth responded strongly, forcing goalkeeper Aaron Flahavan into key saves before eventually restoring their dominance.

In the final stages, Tamworth sealed the win with two late goals. Dan Creaney capitalised on a long throw to extend the lead before Tom Tonks added a fourth, ending any hopes of a Moors comeback. Despite the defeat, the young Solihull side showed promise but ultimately fell short against a clinical Tamworth team.

Solihull Moors earned a valuable point away to Hartlepool United, thanks to Manny Duku’s late equaliser—his third goal in two games. The first half saw both sides create chances, with Ollie Wright making key saves to keep Hartlepool at bay. The hosts came closest when Manu Dieseruvwe’s header was tipped over the bar by Wright, while Solihull struggled to break through a solid Hartlepool defence.

Hartlepool took the lead early in the second half through captain Tom Parkes, who guided a looping header into the net from Jamie Miley’s freekick. Solihull pushed for a response, with Duku testing the keeper before the match was temporarily halted due to a power outage. Once play resumed, the Moors remained determined, and their persistence paid off in the 88th minute when John Bostock’s free-kick found Duku, who glanced a header past the keeper to level the score.

Hartlepool nearly snatched a late winner, but Wright’s fingertip save denied Luke Charman’s fierce strike. In stoppage time, Dieseruvwe had a golden chance to win it for the hosts, but his close-range effort went just wide.
