GREETING & WELCOME Reverend Jimmy Moore and Reverend Mary Beth Morgan

*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE AND THE RINGING OF THE BELLS

PRELUDE

Ilze Akerbergs

Meditation on "It is Well with my Soul" — Elizabeth Krouse (b. 1943)

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One: The season of Lent is a time for us to consider our lives, and to determine to make changes that reflect God’s glory.

All: Repentance is not feeling bad. Repentance is about changing our minds and making sacred choices.

One: The people of God in exile were asked to consider that the Divine ways are other than our own.

All: Here, in this place, we are ready to acknowledge that there is much we do not know. But we do know that our God is calling us to move to a holy place.

One: Once when Jesus heard a report of some who had suffered mercilessly, he challenged the simplistic notion that they had suffered because of their sin.

All: Jesus calls us all to repent…to change our minds. May grace prepare us for the changes we are called to make, even this day. Amen.

*Please stand as you are willing and able.

*GATHERING HYMN

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION

One: Let us pray.

All: Merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For our sake, and the good of the world, have mercy on us.

One: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

All: In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

THE LORD'S PRAYER

James Thomas Appalachia Service Project

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

A CALL TO GIVING

ANTHEM

Come to the Water — John B. Foley, arr. Jack Schrader

1. O let all who thirst, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord: without money, without price. Why should you pay the price, except for the Lord?

2. And let all who seek, let them come to the water. And let all who have nothing, let them come to the Lord: without money, without strife. Why should you spend your life, except for the Lord?

3. And let all who toil, let them come to the water. And let all who are weary, let them come to the Lord: all who labor, without rest. How can your soul find rest, except for the Lord?

4. And let all the poor, let them come to the water, Bring the ones who are laden, bring them all to the Lord: bring the children without might. Easy the load and light: come to the Lord.

*THE DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;

Praise God, all creatures here below: Alleluia! Alleluia! Praise God, the source of all our gifts!

Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!

Praise the Spirit! Holy Spirit! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

*OFFERTORY PRAYER

The Chancel Choir

Loving God, bless the gifts that we give this day as acts of discipleship. We repent of our need to hold on that that which we are called to share. Through Christ we pray. Amen.
