The Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost

GREETING & WELCOME

*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE AND THE RINGING OF THE BELLS

PRELUDE

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One: Come, all who sit by rivers of sorrow, who have hung up their hope and wondered if God still sing

All: We come carrying exile in our bones, dislocation in our hearts, and longing in our prayers.

One: This is the table where memory is honored, where story is sacred, where strangers become siblings

All: We come to taste and see that the Lord is good, to feast on grace, to believe again in belonging.

One: Around the world, across languages and landscapes, a holy table is set.

All: We come not because we are worthy, but because Christ calls us in love.

Come, let us worship the One who welcomes, the One who remembers, the One who feeds the whole world with hope

We believe in God, whose mercy is deeper than our failures, and whose grace meets us in our stumbling.

We believe in Jesus Christ, who teaches us to forgive without limit, and calls us to faith that moves mountains, even when it begins as a mustard seed.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live in love, to walk humbly, and to build a community of compassion and justice.

We believe in the communion of saints, the healing of broken relationships, and the ever-expanding table of grace. Amen.

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Reverend Mary Beth Morgan

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

*THE DOXOLOGY

*OFFERTORY PRAYER

On this World Communion Sunday, we offer these gifts in faith—small as a mustard seed—trusting they will nourish the unity and mercy You call us to. Teach us to forgive as You forgive, and to live from the grace that connects us all. Amen.

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

One: The Lord be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Lift up your hearts.

All: We lift them up to the Lord.

One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

(The leader offers a prayer of thanksgiving, remembering God’s acts of salvation, and concludes:)

One: And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join in their unending hymn:

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

(The leader continues the thanksgiving, recalling the institution of the Lord’s Supper, and concludes:)

One: And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith:

All: Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

(The leader asks for the blessing of the Spirit, and then praises the Trinity, concluding:)

One: All honor and glory is yours, Almighty God, now and forever.

All: Amen.
