Looking Back with Gratitude, Looking Ahead with Excitement

As May comes to a close, I want to take a moment to reflect on the vibrant energy and community spirit that has filled Smithville over the past few weeks. This month has truly showcased the creativity, commitment, and care that make our town such a special place to live, work, and visit.

From the ongoing art classes hosted by the Lost Pines Artisans Alliance to the wonderful gatherings at Music in the Park each Thursday evening, May has offered something for everyone. We’re especially grateful to all who helped make these events such a success, and if you haven’t yet made it out, don’t miss our final Music in the Park of the season this Thursday, May 29th at the Gazebo.

We were proud to shine a bright light on the top 10% of the Smithville High School Class of 2025. This is an tradition we have been a part of with the Smithville Education Foundation for the past 10 years celebrating the academic excellence of the Class of 2025’s top students. And to all Smithville High School graduates, we extend a heartfelt congratulations, your hard work and achievements are inspiring, and we can’t wait to see where your next chapter leads.

Please join us this Friday, May 30th, for the SISD Summer Kickoff, a fun, family-friendly way to welcome the summer season together. And as always, we encourage you to check our online calendar regularly, new events are being added all the time! Be sure to mark your calendars for the June Chamber Mixer hosted by Mosaic Art & Home and Panama Rose and Twig on Thursday, June 19th.

We also want to take a moment to thank Superintendent Cheryl Burns for her dedicated service to Smithville ISD and to wish her the very best in retirement. At the same time, we are excited to welcome Dr. Molley Perry, who officially begins her role as Superintendent on June 3rd. We look forward to the leadership and fresh perspective she brings to our community. Welcome, Dr. Perry.

I hope everyone had a meaningful Memorial Day weekend and took a moment to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice allows us to live with the freedoms we cherish today.

Before Summer turns to Fall, we will be putting out a call for volunteers to help with the various events happening in and around town, so stay tuned for opportunities to help with these community events and activities.

With gratitude and excitement,

Join Us for the June Mixer with Mosaic Art & Home and Panama Rose and Twig!
