Question: For what purpose was the earth created?

Answer: Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else

Question: What was given to man at creation?

Answer: Genesis 1:26-28; Psalms 8:4-8 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet

Question: Did man retain this dominion?

Answer: Hebrews 2:6-8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him.

But now we see not yet all things put under him.

Question: To whom did he surrender it?

Answer: Luke 4:6, 7; John 14:30 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me

Question: Through whom will the lost dominion be restored to man?

Answer: Luke 19:10; Micah 4:8 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem

Question: What promise was made to Abraham and his seed

Answer: Genesis 13:14-16 And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever...

Question: How much did this promise include?

Answer: Romans 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith

Question: Was this promise fulfilled in Abraham's lifetime?

Answer: Hebrews 11:9-13; Acts 7:4, 5 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God. And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child

Answer: 2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness

Question: What will they inherit?

Answer: Matthew 5:5; Psalms 37:11 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace

Question: When will they receive their inheritance?

Answer: Psalms 37:9, 34 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth Wait on the Lord, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it

Question: How will the earth appear then?

Answer: Isaiah 35:1, 2 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God

Question: How will it be purified?

Answer: 2 Peter 3:10, 12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat

Question: What glorious scene in the new earth is pictured before us?

Answer: Revelation 21:1, 2-5; Isaiah 35:5-10 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert
