Wherepeoplemeetpeople, conflicts canarise.Mostofthe time, meetings go well, butsometimes conflictscan progress to aggression.
When aggression occurs,it'snot outofnothing. It's somethingthattriggersit.
It maybethatperson(A) says or does somethingcompletely innocent, but that person (B)feels provoked by.
If (B)reactswithaggression to theperceived violation, thereisa risk that (A)inturnfeels provoked by (B)'s aggressiveness. Someone"makesa picture",someone becomesa mirror image.
It's perfectlynormalfor people to follow, mirror, eachother's body language.Ina positive encounter, spontaneousmirroring are positive.
We feel asense of belonging.
However, if apersonshows aggression,a spontaneousreflection, doingthe same, can create more aggression leadingtoviolence.
On theother hand, ifthe otherpersonshows aggression, you may have theopportunitytodampenhis aggression with a conscious body language.
Thelaw givesyou (verysimplyput)the righttoreasonableselfdefenceagainst acriminalattack. However, thelaw of self-defence only needstobeinvoked if youhaveinjured someoneinyour defence.
With good knowledgeof nonviolent self-defence,noone needstobe injuredand then youdonot even need to invoke thelaw of selfdefence.
Look at thepit of histhroat!
Avoidlooking into theeyesofa physically aggressive person, ashe mayperceiveitasthreatening.
Find histerritorial boundary!
Imaginethathe(andyou)needan area to feel safe in. Thinkofthe shapeasanellipse/egg. His(andyour) needs/ellipsecan extend farahead. Therefore, position yourself alittleto theside.
