coping with “There has never been a global health emergency like COVID-19 in my lifetime. It seems to bring out the best and the worst in people. “For thirty five years I worked as a groundskeeper at Hearst Castle, until March 2020 when Covid hit. My position was furloughed. I still woke up early but I had no routine. Fast forward to August. I retired permanently, and have actually acclimated to my new life. I’m enjoying the free time and the lack of plans. I'm spending more time on my own garden and hanging around with my cat, however, I cannot wait to blow off mask wearing.” Don Ruda Los Osos

“Sometimes I feel claustrophobic, stressed, and miss my friends. My dad has been lucky and able to work, but my mom might have to close her beauty salon and I'm sad. I don't see my friends often but we always wear masks, even though we don't like them. Soccer was canceled, but games will resume in the fall with social distancing. When I look back at this, I will cry because I'm sad about all the people that have died during this pandemic.” Cali Brynn Lowman San Luis Obispo
