“For thirty five years I worked as a groundskeeper at Hearst Castle, until March 2020 when Covid hit. My position was furloughed. I still woke up early but I had no routine. Fast forward to August. I retired permanently, and have actually acclimated to my new life. I’m enjoying the free time and the lack of plans. “Sometimes I feel claustrophobic, stressed, and miss my friends. My dad has been lucky and able to work, but my mom might have to close her beauty salon and I'm sad. I don't see my friends often but we always wear masks, even though we don't like them. Soccer was canceled, but games will resume in the fall with social distancing.
