Un viaggio secolare nel tempo attraverso gli eccezionali reperti rinvenuti negli scavi elbani e nei relitti del suo mare. A journey back through the centuries, with the outstanding fi nds from digs on Elba and from the wrecks o� its coast.
Il Museo si trova all’interno della maestosa Fortezza della Linguella, negli spazi che ospitavano i magazzini del sale. Il percorso racconta la storia dell’Elba dall’VIII sec. a.C. all’età romana, attraverso i rinvenimenti terrestri e subacquei. Racconta l’importanza dell’isola nell’antichità per il ferro e per i commerci marittimi. Sono esposti qui anche i reperti delle “fortezze di altura”, della necropoli del Profi co di Capoliveri, della Villa romana delle Grotte e della Linguella.
The Museum is housed in the impressive Fortezza della Linguella, in rooms once used to store salt. The visitor experience traces of Elba’s history from the 8th Century BCE to the Roman age through fi nds recovered from the land and sea. It recounts the island’s importance in antiquity for its iron and for maritime trade. Also on show are fi nds from the ancient “hill forts”, from the Profi co necropolis at Capoliveri, from the Le Grotte Roman villa and from Linguella.
