Reporting to the General Manager and based in Dryden, Ontario, this full time position is key to the safe and successful operation of the student transportation system for designated geographic areas. The Northwestern Ontario Student Services Consortium serves a geographic area west of Upsala to the Manitoba border, north to Red Lake, Sioux Lookout and Pickle Lake and south to Sioux Narrows and includes the cities of Dryden and Kenora. Student transportation services are provided for the Keewatin-Patricia, Northwest Catholic, Kenora Catholic and as well as CSDC des Aurores boreales. Duties in this challenging and fast paced environment may include but are not limited to; route planning (including special education) and logistics, accounting support, responding to service requests and inquiries, route audits, efficiency and effectiveness, liaison with parents, school and bus operator staff, parental concerns, maintain software data relative to student transportation, bus stop assessment, assistance in the facilitation of weather or early dismissal days and urgent transportation situations. For the right candidate, this position may lead to future advancement within the Consortium. A degree or diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Computing or a related field is required. A valid Driver’s license and the willingness and ability to travel periodically are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required with demonstrated skill in Excel, Word and Outlook. Previous transportation, G.I.S. mapping or logistics experience would be beneficial. Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities and developed skills in conflict resolution, the ability to deal with stakeholders with tact and sound judgment, and solid written and communication skills are important as well as the ability to organize, prioritize and complete job tasks and project work effectively in a high pressure work environment. The candidate will need a high degree of initiative, be able to work independently and in a team environment. Periodic additional hours are required. Geographic knowledge of the service area would be considered an asset.
