Trampoline Gymnastics

Participation

The 2020’s Covid-19 pandemic brought along some innovations such as UK’s “V Tramp” event. Discussion with the organisers soon led to 1st SG Online Competition for Trampoline from 27 November to 6 December 2020. Without a major trampoline competition throughout 2020, the main objective of the Online competition was to provide a chance for members to train and participate in a competition. It also provided the opportunity for TRA judges to maintain their skills and for coaches to improve their athletes’ skills. A total of 6 members participated and were awarded with medals. It is anticipated there will be more online competition as the pandemic situation might remain for one to two years.

The National Championship in March 2021 was the highlight during this period. With new and existing member participation the numbers remained high with a total of 73 athletes, from more clubs than in previous years. Quite noticeably, there were new participants competing at Kinder and Level 1, and many existing members have moved up the NDP Levels. Synchronised Trampoline was added and brought in more new excitement and enthusiasm amongst the participants. Our top trampoline athletes are tracking to reach international FIG level in two to three years.

Coaching

It is of great significance that SG was able to organise and conduct its first National Level “Intermediate Trampoline Coaching” course taught by its own local Technical TRA members. The course was held on 11th, 15th, 22nd and 29th November 2020. Prior to this, the most recent Trampoline Coach course was the FIG Academy Level 1 Trampoline Gymnastics Coaching course from 16 to 24 August.

Five (5) participants from several clubs participated. The theory aspect of the course was conducted online and led by SG’s Community Development Manager, Ms Dawn Ho. This was followed by practical sessions held in several facilities with suitable trampolines and equipment. Skills taught will enable participants to coach SG’s National Development Programme (NDP) for Trampoline from Kinder level to Level 3 (single somersault).
