Advocate the need and benefits of participation in fundamental movement programmes for all Singapore children
With an increased focus on physical literacy and fundamental movement, Singapore Gymnastics partners with ActiveSG to make Gymnastics accessible to a wider audience through the ActiveSG Gymnastics Academy KinderGym programme held in ActiveSG centres. Not only does this set the pathway for a healthy lifestyle full of movement to all children below 6 years old, but it also creates opportunities for these children to either further pursue their gymnastics interest at an established gymnastics club or give them a head start to any other sports that they may wish to partake in. KinderGym-accredited coaches from our SG-affiliated clubs run these programmes and this goes hand-in-hand with the emphasis of supporting Singapore Gymnastics affiliated clubs.
Under the strict government Safe Management Measures, Singapore Gymnastics together with BazGym, piloted the first ActiveSG Gymnastics Academy KinderGym programme in Sengkang ActiveSG centre. There was a positive and encouraging response from parents.

Singapore Gymnastics maintains its commitment to developing resources to support clubs deliver programmes in KinderGym. So far, Singapore Gymnastics has conducted seven (7) KinderGym Coaching Courses, working with 51 coaches from affiliated clubs to get them accredited as well as produced lesson plans and coaching kits, which are given to coaches who have completed the course. Along with this is a KinderGym passport booklet for participants in all clubs and ActiveSG KinderGym programmes.
Furthermore, Singapore Gymnastics successfully ran the pilot ActiveSG KinderGym programme in Sengkang Sports Centre. There had been a waiting list of KinderGym athletes prior to the start of the programme and response to registration was very positive.
As a result of the PDPA restrictions, Singapore Gymnastics did not have access to contact details of the ActiveSG KinderGym athletes, but it was still important for Singapore Gymnastics to recognise these potential club athletes and be able to support them in the near future. This is why it is critical to link these centres to Singapore Gymnastics clubs, to facilitate the link from ActiveSG KinderGym into clubs.
Out of the 20 children who joined the ActiveSG KinderGym programme, Singapore Gymnastics was able to reach out and encourage at least 14 athletes to be a Singapore Gymnastics athlete member and discover more about the sport through the National Sports Association.
