Favorite Places To Eat

You don't have to get out of town to enjoy some good food! Jessamine County is expanding and getting more places to eat! What is your favorite? I'm a simple chicken and veggies person, but I wouldn't mind a good seafood place! Tell the powers that be! Here are 2 obvious favorites though!

April 19: Merchants’ Spring Open House

April 30: Coaster Car Derby on E. Main

May 3: Community Flower Sale and the Farmers’ Market and Caboose Railside Museum open for the season

As much as I love a cozy winter, I am ready for singing birds, crisp mornings and warm days. There’s just something about Spring that reawakens our hearts, and re energizes our spirits. One thing I love about Kentucky is that we actually do get all of our seasons. Some are longer than others, but one thing is for sure, I’m always ready for the next one when the time comes.

Spring is a time for cleaning, opening windows, porch sitting, and finally getting your hands dirty in the garden and landscape. The warm sun and cool breeze will inspire you to tackle that new home project you’ve been putting off during the cold.

This issue, I hope to engage you with ideas for your Spring 2022 season! Jessamine County is alive with events to get you outdoors! You’ll also find out where to attend Easter service, and who we recommend around town for you to continue to do business here locally throughout the year.

Lastly, I just want to take a second to thank you for reading and loving Jessamine County Christmas! It’s because of you that Jessamine County Spring, Summer, Fall and Christmas now exist at all. Remember to love on our advertisers, too! They need and appreciate your business so much. See you in the Summer issue (coming in MID MAY!)

Happy Spring, Britt

After your lawn and landscaping have been dormant under sheets of ice and snow all winter, they are left weak and ready for sunshine and fertilization. Here's how to get them back and fuller than ever.

Do a little Spring cleaning. Clean up twigs and leaves -- anything that may have gathered over Winter. Apply the right fertilizer early on They make some that help grass and landscape grow, and some to hinder weeds and crabgrass

The earlier in the season, the more often you should mow. searshomeservices com says that mowing too often (once a week) allows the grass to grow too much before mowing it, in turn stunting the roots. Pick a good mulch.

Trim the trees

Decorate your lawn with flowers and lighting!
