A Message from Matthew H. Maschler Real Estate Broker
Last year I made the decision to launch a company wide newsletter to friends, customers, employees and fellow real estate agents. The first issue was August 2022. Here we are one year later and I am so proud of myself and my team for completing a FULL YEAR of monthly newsletters.
You have seen Jill Glanzer ROCK OUT in the Battle of the Bands, Eliana Blech CRUSH it as the celebrity bartender for the Realtors Association and witnessed the growth of Boca Raton Championship Wrestling.
We have had a lot of fun events and we have sold a LOT of houses for our happy customers. It is amazing how far we have come in a

So here it is August 2023 and it is HOT. Not a hot real estate market like 2021 and 2022, just HOT outside. As we find ourselves amidst the peak of summer, I hope this newsletter finds you figuring out ways to keep cool.

Dear Real Estate Broker,
I am buying a house in Palm Beach County. My agent told me the Seller chooses the Closing Agent and pays for title insurance. However I would feel more comfortable choosing the Closing Agent. Is this allowed?

Dear Mr. Buyer,
I can understand why you would be reluctant to have the Seller choose the Closing Agent, after all it is your money and you want to ensure you have control of the transaction and get good title to your home.
While it is CUSTOMARY in Palm Beach County for the Seller to choose the Closing Agent, this by no means required. It is not a law.
Since you as the Buyer are writing the offer, you simply instruct your agents to put whatever terms you would like in the offer. The Seller will probably appreciate not having to pay this expense and it will make your offer look even better.
