by focusing on what or who we have found God to be — either by personal experience or reputation: “For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness” (33:4). This is an affirmation of trust. “He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord” (33:5). This is an affirmation of God’s nature: justice and love. We don’t have to use the words of the Psalmist, but we need within us a trustfulness of God that is evident in his righteousness and his requirement of justice — for us and from us. So trust is the first ingredient. And the second is his power. He is self-limited by his divine love and wisdom, but not his power. There are the two polarities: a God who created everything that is and the Lord who loves us and is faithful in all his promises. “By the Lord the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.” The next time you go to church or kneel by your bedside, remember: God the Creator is also God our Lord.

Cocalico PreKindergarten Workshop

Have you been wondering how to prepare your child for kindergarten? If so, please attend the free hands-on learning session for all Cocalico School District residents with a child who will be attending kindergarten in the fall of 2017. Parents and 2017 kindergarten students should attend together. Sessions are led by Cocalico School District Reading Specialists, Kindergarten Teachers and Administrators, in an effort to prepare your child for kindergarten. There are several sessions throughout the school year. Sessions build upon each other, so participants are encouraged to attend each session. The next workshop will take place on Thursday, January 5 at the Adamstown Elementary School. The workshop will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. The focus during this workshop will be on math. Space is limited. Please pre-register two weeks before each session or for all sessions. Register by emailing Kristin Slovik at Kristin_ slovik@cocalico.org.
