Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese As we prepare to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas, pause and remember what makes this time so special, which is the birth of Jesus. The congregation at New Holland Evangelical United Methodist arranged this lovely nativity scene outside their church along Main Street in New Holland to provide a visual reminder of what Christmas is all about. The lighted display is set with the church and its beautiful stained glass windows aglow in the background.

HOMETOWN HEROES This week featuring:
BAREVILLE FIRE COMPANY Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The season’s first significant snowfall brought motorists many headaches and whiteknuckle moments as they headed home during rush hour, which was among the worst times for this storm. Snowfall totals ranged from a couple of inches to almost a foot in some spots. High winds complicated travel, with many roads developing nasty drifting. Sleet pelted anyone outside during the evening hours, and by dawn the storm was finished and heading north. Shovels, snowblowers, salt and anything related to snow was flying off the shelves at local retailers, who were stocked in anticipation of the approaching storm. Shown is one gentleman along Main Street in Akron as he helps clear snow for the neighbors, as the early light of day backlights the snow being launched.
