St. Paul’s E.C. Church in Reamstown has started an outreach food ministry to help anyone struggling to make ends meet with a twice-monthly food box giveaway. Shown are church members Lin and Ron Moyer who help load boxes in the cars of those signed up. The church is eager to serve more people than
currently have signed up and they encourage you to take advantage of this outreach program. Pastor Mathew Hill’s wife Emily started the program after seeing so many struggling to just survive after job losses. The church provides one 40-pound box of food per family, every second and fourth Friday of the month.
Anyone who wants a box can get one. They do ask that families sign up by emailing the church and that the sign up is done by 8:00 p.m. on the Thursday prior to distribution day to ensure they are prepared with enough boxes. Little Lemonade Stand Proves Small Ideas Can Do Big Things Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese In this time of uncertainty and challenges that many families are facing, three friends from Ephrata brainstormed to come up with a way to make a positive impact in their local community. The three decided to do a lemonade stand to benefit the Ephrata Area Social Services (EASS). Their parents offered to match whatever they raised, but never imagined the support this event would receive. The three friends raised $522.25, and with their parents’ match, they were able to give $1,044.50 to benefit Ephrata Area Social Services programs. The girls wore masks and gloves, sanitized between customers and provided a safe and delicious product. Shown in the photo, from left to right, are Cali Burkholder, Maddie Henne, Joy Ashley (EASS Director) and Bria Burkholder with the check they donated.
