Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese High school athletes across the county are hard at work honing their respective skills in anticipation of the coming season. Warm humid weather has been a challenge, but with proper hydration, the effects are kept in check. Shown are teams practicing on a humid day. The top photo includes Cocalico athletes Brayden Eppinette, Grant Lockhart, Aiden Swann and Mason Moore making a sweet catch among the defenders.

Reamstown Artist Volunteers Time/Talent To Enhance Playground Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Reamstown Park playground recently underwent some improvements in the way of both clean up as well as some artistic enhancements. The East Cocalico Lions Club, along with neighbors, did an outstanding job of cleaning debris from the playground. Park volunteer and park neighbor Annie Hale also added some artistic painted embellishments to the playground which the kids just love. From a rocket ship, to a fire truck, to the T-Rex shown here, Annie’s gift of her time and talent to the kids and the community on this project will encourage children to use their imagination and dream big! Annie moved here with her family six years ago and started volunteering in the park. She has enjoyed a career in theater, lighting design, and live event productions in New York City and nationally. With her husband Mike Hale, they have worked with Reamstown Days and Lions Club Halloween in the Park. They have

organized free summer movies, the Christmas tree lighting and are very happy to have the park as an artistic outlet. Annie loves doing art in several mediums, and reviving the playground was a blast for

her. The Park Committee asked her to update the painting in the playground last spring. After investigating a bit, she realized there were many symbols and themes

throughout the playground that she was able to bring out with color. The playground features four castles, which represent the four elements of matter, as well as four different colors and all the little children

seem to love it. Annie hopes the playground enjoys many more years. Annie is shown with a few items she used to enhance this playground while a T-Rex looks on.
