“July 4th Community Fun Night” Celebration To Be Held

NOW THRU WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 5 The Lancaster County Office of Aging will offer free aquatic exercise classes at the Leola Community Pool, 23 East Main Street, Leola, Mondays and Wednesdays, at 12:00 noon. For participants 60 years of age or older. Registration required at pool site. No membership required.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 1 The Eastern Lancaster County Library, 11 Chestnut Drive, New Holland, will learn about how to “Be A Hero For Our Earth” at 6:30 p.m. For grades kindergarten through sixth grade. For more information or to register, call 717-354-0525.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8 The Lititz Public Library, 651 Kissel Hill Road, Lititz, will host Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County for a “Journey to Uranus” program at 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room. the Ephrata Church of the Brethren (ECOB) in the Lincoln Heights area, where Ephrata’s

Come out the whole family, beginning at and enjoy an evening of fun for 5:00 p.m. with the games starting at 6:00 p.m., and ending with the Ephrata Fireworks display. Live music, juggling, demonstrations by the DKers from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., pony rides from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., games, inflatables, barrel train ride, spin art, face tattoos, free popcorn, and a variety of delicious food. There is no cost to enter and parking is by donation. Door prizes will be awarded at 9:00 p.m. and have been donated by local businesses (register at the Welcome Table). Local Senior Still Singing At 102 Years Old

SATURDAY, JULY 11 The Ephrata Public Library, 550 South Reading Road, Ephrata, will show a screening of “Beats of the Antonov” at 11:00 a.m. For adults and seniors. Registration not required.

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese Those attending the Lititz Senior Center took part in a special birthday celebration honoring Josephine Longcheck who turned 102 years old last Thursday, June 25. A day honoring Josephine included cake, flowers and a special appearance by her favorite musical group, Lost and Found. Josephine attributes her longevity to healthy eating and she loves to sing Polish songs. She has been a regular at the Lititz Senior Center for over 20 years and really enjoys music. She has six siblings and three children. Shown in the photo is Josephine (seated) along with friends who play cards with her, (left to right) Shirley Dellinger, Sandy Testerman and Sheila Maricondo.

The Shopping News will be closed Saturday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The office will re-open at 7:30 a.m. Monday, July 6.
