Shopping News July 4th Deadline
The Shopping News will be closed on Saturday, July 2 and Monday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Normal office hours will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5. Due to the holiday, The Shopping News will observe the following deadlines for the July 6th issue: News Articles: Wednes day, June 29, 12:00 noon. Display Ads: Thursday, June 30, 4:00 p.m. Classified Ads: Friday, July 1, 9:00 a.m.
The annual July 4th Community Fun Night event is taking place in the back yard of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren at 201 Crescent Avenue in Ephrata on Monday, July 4. Thousands of people will enjoy free family activities
including inflatables, games, and barrel train rides. In community part nership, food and milk shakes will be on sale to benefit the youth from the Ephrata and Akron Churches of the Brethren and the Lions Club as well
as parking offered by donation. Free bottled water will be available throughout the evening. Food booths open at 5:30 p.m., activities will be open from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., followed by the Ephrata fireworks show produced from the

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Akron Volunteer Fire Company held a special training night in the Loyd Roland Park, which featured a visit from STAT MedEvac air ambulance. The visit gave fire company members valuable information about their role in preparing the scene when a rescue helicopter is on site. Members were shown various aspects involved and did some brief handson exercises. Shown is a crowd of onlookers who attended the event.
