First Responders Receive Recognition During VFW National Awards Program Veterans of Foreign Wars Cocalico Valley Post 3376 thanks all First Responders for their selfless service and bravery as they keep everyone safe each and every day. Shown in the photo, from left to right, are (front) Sam Young (Chief at Rothsville Volunteer Fire Company), Kenneth Lockhart (Ephrata Police Department), Les Martzall (Ephrata Community Ambulance Association), Nevin May (Brickerville Volunteer Fire Company); (back) Amy MacKenzie (State Woman’s Veterans Chairman), Dwayne MacKenzie (Post 3376 Commander) and Ronald Peters (VFW State JR Vice Commander). Veterans of Foreign Wars Cocalico Valley Post 3376 “The Ephrata VFW” is an organization composed of wartime veterans. As such, the VFW Post members understand the need to recognize and honor those individuals who have performed above and beyond their peers. Of particular significance are those who, like the wartime veterans, have placed the safety and welfare of others above their own. Post 3376 is proud to support and participate in a National VFW Safety Program,
where they recognize and thank all First Responders. There are three main categories: Law Enforcement, EMT, and Firefighter. Post 3376 contacted local First Responders and asked
their leaders to consider nominating an outstanding individual to be recognized. Individual nomination packets were received and evaluated at the Post level and then forwarded to the
Department (state) level for additional judging. A banquet was held Saturday, May 4 to recognize and honor First Responders, with a special emphasis on a few individ-
