Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese Dozens of members of St. Stephens Church, along with members of the community, turned out recently to watch the brand new steeple being lifted into place. The newly constructed steeple cost several hundred thousand dollars and the workmanship is incredible. Sunny skies and a light wind provided the perfect backdrop for the placement back on the church. A dedication service is planned for Sunday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. to see the “Beacon of Light” and the New Holland Band is slated to play.

Schoeneck Fire Company Benefit Auction/Quilt Sale

SATURDAY, MAY 21 Cocalico High School, 800 South 4th Street, Denver, will hold a Civil War Living History Day, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (free to the public). There is a cost however for the Southern Sampler Dinner (4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.) and for a special performance (7:00 p.m.). Tickets may be purchased at the school on the day of the event.

SATURDAY, MAY 21 Overly’s Grove Park, 940 Overly’s Grove Road, New Holland, will hold a Chicken BBQ fundraiser. Supper is available for eat­in or takeout and will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There is a cost. For more information, call 717­940­8647.

SUNDAY, MAY 22 Garden Spot Village, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, will host the Gap Male Chorus in concert at 7:00 p.m. Admission is free, but a love offering will be taken.

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The public is invited to come out and support the Schoeneck Fire Company during its annual Benefit Auction planned for Saturday, May 21 beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Consignment Auction Committee will be accepting donations on Thursday, May 19 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, May 20 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Quilt Auction will begin at 12:00 noon and there will be great food available as well.
