Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese Another winter storm has come and gone and this small herd of cattle near Schaefferstown were photographed as they formed a rather unique straight line to eat. As another snowstorm starts to accumulate, they most certainly are very grateful their owner laid out a long trail of hay on this cold winter day. This unique country scene is enhanced by the lovely yellow and red barns and the church steeple in the distance.

Peace Church Lenten Happenings The following events are taking place at Peace United Church of Christ, located at 37 East Swartzville Road,

Denver. • An Ash Wednesday service will take place on Wednesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. The theme will be “What We are Clinging to Instead of the Cross,” presented by Reverend Brad Haws from St. John’s UCC in Denver.

There will be communion by intinction and ashes will be applied to those who want it. Refreshments to follow service.

• The Lenten Project is entitled “Planting Seeds of Love” and is focused on caring for seniors in our congregation and also for

the UCC Homes Benevolent Fund. The congregation will be invited to assist with a “Noisy Offering” every (Continued On Page 5A)

The students collected 100 items of each of the following including: canned meat, peanut butter, canned soup, toiletries and boxed pasta. The collected items were then given to Peter’s Porch in Akron.
