Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese It’s not every day you see a hot air balloon floating by in the middle of the day, but this balloon was gliding low over the countryside near Groffdale Church recently. The gentleman driving the buggy paused for a minute or two to watch the colorful sight and the three girls on the bicycles got an up-close view as the balloon floated right above their heads. The balloon touched down in the field to the left but took to the skies shortly thereafter and might indicate a young pilot being trained on this chilly winter day.

Ephrata Cloister Offers Internships For more than 250 years, visitors

have been coming to explore the historic Ephrata Cloister, a fascinating religious community in northern Lancaster County. The museum now announces the opportunity for college students who have completed their freshman

year to apply for internships at the National Historic Landmark during the summer months. Two internship options are available: the Keystone Internship Program sponsored by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commis-

sion, and the internship provided directly by the historic site. Interns in both programs will be engaged in interpretation of the museum to visitors. Interns also provide visitor services to help guests (Continued On Page 13A)

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 Bareville Fire Company, 211 East Main Street, Leola, will hold an All You Can Eat Breakfast, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 4 The Reinholds Fire Company, 138 W. Main St., Reinholds, will host Bluegrass Music featuring “Summit Hill” and “Canaan’s Land.” Doors open at 5:00 p.m. Music starts at 6:00 p.m. There is a donation cost. Food is available.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 5 The Baron Stiegel Lions Club of Clay and Elizabeth Townships will hold a Benefit Buffet Breakfast at the Brickerville Fire Hall, located on Hopeland Road at Route 322, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There is a cost. All proceeds will go to help provide for local community needs.

In attendance were new board members, Lori Snyder and Chris Ament, along with 13 standing members. Plans for the new year include: analyzing and refining service delivery to the Ephrata and Cocalico regions of Lancaster County, developing collaborative relationships with area churches and organizations intending to provide needed services to those in need and to continue communicating to the community the ongoing need for volunteers.
