Level 1 courses (vocational study programmes) include a mixture of subject-specific content, employability skills and work experience. Students can re-sit their English and Maths GCSEs alongside these courses.

Level 2 Qualification Traineeship
Level 2 courses offer a stepping stone to a Level 3 focusing on supporting students to enhance their core skills and competencies ahead of further study. Some technical areas require students to start at a Level 1 or 2 to ensure they develop the required ‘hand-skills’ for the trade e.g. Hairdressing/Construction.

Level 3 Qualification / Apprenticeships
Level 3 courses are the most common level studied by school leavers who enter Further Education. Typically these courses require 5 GCSE results grade 9-4 including English and Maths or a satisfactory Level 2 grade.

Level 1 courses are specifically designed to support students to develop the skills needed to succeed in further education. Courses are available in various subjects including construction, creative, digital, healthcare and early years.
Lessons will combine practical and theoretical study depending on the course area. Some classes may focus on further training in digital skills, English & Maths GCSE to help with employability.
Level 1 courses support you to achieve the required foundation qualifications and skills to progress onto a Level 2, Transition to T Level

GCSEs are often required for many jobs and further/higher education programmes.
ARE YOU A SCHOOL LEAVER?
If you didn’t manage to achieve a grade 4 in English or Maths at school you will automatically work towards gaining these qualifications as part of your main study programme at College.
Classes will normally take up about 3 hours per subject of your weekly timetable, and you will be taught by supportive and friendly teachers who provide lots of practical help and guidance.
GCSEs FOR ADULT LEARNER
If you are 19 or older, you can take Maths, English and Biology GCSE as part of a daytime or evening programme. The lessons will be around 3 hours long, and you should also prepare at least 3 hours of homework per week.

We ensure all students achieve an English and Maths qualification at grade 4 or above.
It is important you work hard to secure these qualifications as it is a core requirement for many jobs, Apprenticeships and degrees.
If you are aged 16 to 19, or 19 to 25 with an EHCP, who do not already hold a GCSE grade 9 to 4 (A*-C) in Maths and English you will be required to resit these qualifications alongside your study programme at Fareham College.
We are a regional Centre for Excellence for Maths, acting as a beacon of best practice for the Solent. As a Centre for Excellence, the College hosts regular conferences and events with professionals from across the region, sharing best practices to ensure you are supported to achieve your qualifications.

Suppose you are an adult learner (19+) who wishes to increase your career opportunities, broaden your knowledge, or pursue a new interest. In that case, you can use our FREE careers service for Adults.
There are also free online opportunities. You can complete your own learning modules and assignments online, in the comfort of your home.
We know that cost plays a big role in deciding to return to education. You may not need to pay any course fees if one of the following circumstances applies: studying a Level 1 qualification studying your first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification unemployed and receive specific state benefits
Funding is also available for adults learning less than £20,319 and many co-funded options for learners at Level 2.

This programme is specifically designed to support you in the development of vital employability skills, helping you stand out to employers.
Providing a mixture of in-classroom learning and work experience placement, a Traineeship will provide all the support you need to progress onto an Apprenticeship, into employment, or another training course. As a trainee, you’ll get:
training to prepare you for work, including CV writing and what to expect in the workplace support to improve your English, maths and digital skills
a high-quality work placement of at least 70 hours

Fareham College has undertaken substantial campus redevelopment over recent years, investing £40 million across its three campuses.
This continued investment ensures all students have access to state-of-the-art facilities including workshops, laboratories, studios and training suites, offering the very best educational experience and learning opportunities.
Our Bishopsfield Road campus provides an outstanding learning environment for the 2,000 students based at the main site.
The campus is home to a range of courses in art, design, photography, fashion, graphic design, performing arts, music, creative media, hospitality and catering, beauty and hairdressing, specialist make-up, travel, construction, business computing and digital industries, health and social care, science, education and childcare, sport and uniformed public services.

AVENUE 141
The on-site restaurant is run by Hospitality and Catering students. The restaurant is popular with external visitors for its delicious dishes and use of fresh local produce to create high-quality seasonal menus. Avenue 141 delivers silver service, providing the highest education and training standards to prepare you for the industry.
THEATRE 141
With tiered seating and additional standing space, Theatre 141 is flexible to accommodate a variety of performances and events, including showcases, plays and musicals, conferences and guest speakers. The auditorium can accommodate audience sizes of up to 130 and includes dressing rooms, an adjacent studio area and media suite, and Café 141 for arrival or interval refreshments.

We have two Learning Resource Centres (LRC), one at our Bishopsfield Road Campus and another at our CEMAST Campus. Both include various electronic resources, static computers, and student laptop banks.

KIDZ INC NURSERY
An Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features pre-school and day nursery open to the general public as well as students and College staff. It is registered for babies and children aged three months to five years and is independently run on the College site by qualified staff. GYM 141
Gym 141 is available to all staff and students enrolled at the College as part of our enrichment offering. The facilities include industry-standard fitness equipment, cardiovascular and resistance machines and free weights.
CAFÉ 141 & EAT 141
There are two cafes at our Bishopsfield Road Campus and Starbucks is located at CEMAST. Each day a range of drinks, hot meals, cooked breakfasts and lunches are available with vegetarian and vegan options. Throughout the campuses, you will also find well-stocked vending machines containing a selection of snacks and hot and cold drinks.

Our extensive Aerospace training facilities include composite repair benches, a full-size Cessna offering experience working with fixed and rotary wing aircraft, and extensive fabrication facilities.

Our CEMAST campus is proud to have a fully functional garage, diagnostic tools and two track-ready racing cars on-site, offering Automotive students in-depth knowledge and understanding of specialised race vehicles.

MANUFACTURING & MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
We offer excellent facilities for students training in advanced manufacturing technologies, mechanical design, development and operations. Our high-class Manufacturing and Mechanical workshops are equipped with a vast range of processing equipment, machining technology, tooling and production kit to replicate an industry-standard environment and offer a unique training experience.
MARITIME DEFENCE
Our Maritime Defence workshops include a demonstration pumping system featuring centrifugal pumps, motors and a positive displacement pump connected to a heat exchanger. The rig replicates the size and scale of machinery found onboard modern ships.
3D PRINTING
The CEMAST campus has also invested in eight 3D printers and a digitizer. Representing a significant advancement in the manufacturing industry, this new technology is a fast and highly innovative tool for making professional-quality models and an excellent way to test mechanical systems and produce components.

The CEMAST campus has its own Learning Resource Centre, with over 48 PCs and a wealth of printed and electronic resources. There is an on-site café, serving hot and cold food and drinks throughout the day, including barista-style Starbucks coffee, and outside courtyard areas where students can socialise.

CETC Campus is Fareham College’s Civil Engineering Training Centre, which offers industry-focused Apprenticeship programmes and professional training courses to develop the next generation of civil engineers and groundworkers.
CETC is designed to provide a fully operational, realistic groundworks and civil engineering training environment and is fully equipped with the machinery, tools, materials and resources needed to ensure all apprentices develop work-ready skills and complete the relevant licences required to work successfully on-site.
Since it opened, CETC has seen unprecedented levels of success and was judged ‘Apprentice Initiative of the Year’ at the Prestigious Construction Excellence SECBE awards and ‘Construction Apprenticeship Provider of the Year’ at the FE Week and AELP ACC Apprenticeship Awards.

THE HANGER
The Hanger provides an indoor space to allow students to learn vital brickwork and groundwork skills and techniques. You will work through all the relevant bricklaying levels, learning to build using various bricks to mimic real-life scenarios, such as house building.
OUTSIDE SPACE
CETC incorporates a 5,000m2 construction-site training space for you to learn vital skills to work in Groundworks and Civil Engineering. You will train with like-minded individuals and work together or solo during your sessions. Students can be found laying foundations, mixing and pouring concrete and laying drainage, among many other techniques.
CPCS TEST CENTRE
The 3,600m2 training area for Ride-on Rollers and Forward-Tipper Dumpers allows you to fully embrace the vehicles directed by highly skilled staff with plenty of industry and vehicle experience. You can learn and practice on the simulators inside campus to help you become more confident and accurate before operating the vehicles first-hand.

You must be at least 17 years old to enrol on the Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training course. Previous study at L2/L3 within the area of sport, exercise, health & fitness is desirable.
Level 3 Activity Leadership Academy
LEVEL 3
Learners should be at least 17 years of age and be able to communicate effectively in English, this includes listening, speaking, reading and writing. This course will require a CRB check prior to enrolling.

LEVEL 4

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION
We will contact you to arrange an informal pre-interview with a Careers Centre advisor. This provides an opportunity to discuss your plans and the study type you wish to study. If you are still deciding what course or study type is right for you, don’t worry; we will support you in finding the best fit for your aspirations and the grades you hope to achieve.
INTRO SESSION
You will be invited to attend an Intro Session for your chosen course after your interview. This is the second part of your application and is vital to secure a place.
YOUR OFFER
We will send you a conditional offer letter. This is subject to satisfactory references from your school or previous college and meeting any entry requirements for your selected course.
FRESHERS
Freshers takes place in the summer before you join Fareham College. It’s a great chance to meet teachers, and other students taking your course. You can also ask any further questions you may have about starting.
GCSE RESULTS / ENROLMENT
This is your application’s final step before you join us in September. You will confirm your place on your chosen course before receiving your College ID and timetable. Please attend enrolment at the end of August 2024; it is compulsory.
COLLEGE STARTS
Autumn term starts the week commencing 2nd September 2024. You will see your teachers and other students in your course. You will receive your kit / uniform lists before your start date and any additional information you need.

Our three campuses are easily accessible via all forms of travel.
They are less than forty minutes by car or train from Southampton or Portsmouth.
Our Bishopsfield Road Campus is located off The Avenue (A27) in central Fareham on Bishopsfield Road. It is close to the M27 if travelling by car.
If using public transport, Fareham train station is a ten-minute walk away, and the bus station is a 20-minute walk from the College. CEMAST and CETC Campuses are located on the Daedalus Airfield on the B3385 to Lee-on-the-Solent.

BUSES
All three campuses are easily accessible via bus, and if you have a bus pass you will be able to use them throughout the entire First Bus network.
TRAINS
Fareham Railway Station is around a ten minute walk from the Bishopsfield Road Campus. A bus service also runs from Fareham Railway Station to CEMAST and CETC Campus.
CYCLING
All three campuses are accessible via cycle paths. Secure, covered cycle racks are also available.
