Poetry, leadership and a brighter future at Bureau Valley Leadership Class In 2018, BVHS implemented a leadership class into its curriculum that can be taken by any student, freshman through senior. While the course includes a study of different leaders and leadership theories, its foundation is built upon providing students with opportunities to design and engage in a variety of service projects. Students have taken on a wide range of projects that work to benefit our school and surrounding communities over the years. In the last year alone, leadership students have created an annual holiday gift drive in conjunction with the local food pantry, hosted a BV student and staff tailgate, established relationships with local nursing home residents, and raised money to support an area teen center. Our students do a tremendous job of not only identifying areas of need around us, but also of creating and executing plans that produce really terrific outcomes. Each semester students seem to raise the bar for what they wish to accomplish, and it’s been really exciting to witness this type of growth as the course continues to evolve.
