All Greenhands on deck for sectional conference
West Carroll Greenhand FFA members Ashlyn Foster, Allison Duggan, Dalton Duggan, Elliana Harding, Aubrey Wurster, and Caitlyn Stingley attended the Section I FFA Greenhand Conference at Eastland High School on September 8.
The evening started out with pizza, cookies, and water. Members were then split into four breakout sessions:
Session No. 1: Leadership, problem solving and teamwork —Members had to work together to stack as many nails as they could on one single nail.
Session No. 2: FFA CDE’s — Members learned about the available FFA CDEs (Career Development Events). A couple highlighted were the Dairy Foods CDE and Livestock Judging.
Session No. 3 —Included topics in animal science. Members had to work on correctly tying a dog harness in this session.
Session No. 4 —This session was split between learning about the many opportunities available in the FFA and learning about the Highland Community College Ag Program.
The conference was hosted by the Eastland FFA Chapter and led by the Section I FFA Officer team of President Ross Stabenow of Le-Win, vice president Ben Bremmer of Pearl City, secretary Conor DeZell of Le-Win, treasurer Ashley Carroll of River Ridge, and reporter Aly Anderson of Galena. The West Carroll FFA participated in one of largest Labor Day parades in the state, the Shannon Labor Day Parade, on
September 6, 2021. Members participating were, from left:
