A fest with Norwegian flair
N
orwegian food, music and crafts were featured at Taste of Norway, an annual Hostfest fall festival, held at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Montgomery on Sunday, Nov. 6. The festival included a craft market, which featured demonstrations of Norwegian crafts including rosemaling (decorative Norwegian folk painting), wood carving and knitting, along with Scandinavian jewelry, gifts and knitted items. Additionally, there were food-making demonstrations including lefse, a soft flat bread buttered, sprinkled with sugar and rolled up and eaten with meals or as a snack; and krumkaker, a cone-shaped dessert eaten empty or filled with whipped cream. The Fox Valley Norwegian Choir, directed by Aurora resident Doris Pittman, also performed. See more photos on page 5 and page 18.
