IT’S FISH FRY SEASON Lots of options for Friday night feasting in Kendall County
By TONY SCOTT tscott@kendallcountynow.com he tradition of the Friday night fish fry goes back decades, and is most associated with the North Woods of Wisconsin, where plates of bluegill, perch or walleye are plentiful at supper clubs throughout the region. But fried fish on Fridays – beer battered or breaded, typically with a baked option – can be found throughout the Midwest, including right here in Kendall County. Friday fish fries are at their peak during the Lenten season, when social clubs and taverns are packed to the gills with patrons wanting some fresh fried seafood. Below is a list of just a few places in the Kendall County area where one can find a Friday night fish fry.
We’ve listed what kind of fish they typically serve, if it’s an all-youcan eat affair, and what kind of side dishes, or fixins, are available. French fries or other potato dishes – such as potato pancakes – are common, along with dinner rolls and coleslaw. The meals are Fridays only unless otherwise stated. So stop on by, and dig in!
