Jim Stalker returns from retirement to the business he loves

For some, retirement is the life. Spending more time with family, learning new things, taking college classes and discovering new hobbies, the time spent working is now diverted to new endeavors. But for others, there may be too much time on
the hands. For Jim Stalker of Creston, it was the latter. Stalker, 73, retired from owning a business in 2014, but came back in full swing with Stalk Talk’s Bookstore.
Background Stalker graduated from East Union High School and then immediately went into working as assistant parts manager at
Creston Motor, a vehicle dealership. He then attended Creston Community College for two years and enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. After a six-year, nonactive term, he bounced from Coen’s Furniture to Southern Iowa Utility before finally settling down in his business of choice. “I wanted a business.
