Mansfield attended college in Washington and recent-
ly moved back to Illinois, the news release states. He told detectives he had sex with a 15-year-old girl in Idaho while attending college. He also said he posted advertisements on many websites seeking males or females of any age, the release states. He is scheduled to appear in court in Lake County on Sept. 25. St. Paul Diaper Bank to host benefit auction NORTHWEST HERALD McHENRY – The St. Paul Diaper Bank will celebrate National Diaper Bank Awareness Week by hosting its first countywide benefit auction. The event will run from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday at D’Andrea Banquets, 4419 Northwest Highway, Crystal Lake. Dress is casual. Tickets cost $75 for the event, which will include an hors d’oeuvres banquet and a four-hour open bar. The Diaper Bank serves infants and children of low-income families, disabled children and adults, those who are coping with a serious illness and seniors in need. Last year, more than 260,000 diapers were distributed to people in McHenry County, half of the requested need. Before the Diaper Bank can distribute diapers, it first needs to collect “Dollars for Diapers” and diapers. Snowshoes program registration deadline nears RINGWOOD – McHenry County Conservation District’s “Make Your Own Snowshoes” program, a three-session adult class, will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Oct. 10, 24 and Nov. 7, at the Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, Route 31 and Harts Road. In this interactive class, students will learn to make a fully laced workable pair of Ojibwe-style snowshoes. The history of snowshoes, techniques and other useful information will be discussed. Participants will need to do homework between sessions and buy varnish to finish the shoes. A program fee of $140 for county residents and $175 for nonresidents covers the cost of the frame, lacing and bindings and must accompany registration. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Friday.
