For my internship, I was looking for a firm whose work embodies these principles, and this is the reason I seek to intern under you.I am eager to learn how designs are materialized and I want to learn the practical aspects of architectural practice.

About Me: I am Shaun Varghese, a fourth year Architecture student studying at Late Dr. Baliram Hiray College of IArchitecure.amanavid reader of books on Architectural theory− the reasoning and philosophy behind the design. In one such reading by the Archi tect Christian−Norberg Schulz, I encountered the idea of architecture or the built form being a participant in the lives of the people. I deeply believe in Rem koolhas’ idea of Architecture as the designing; of the lives of people. Competitions participated in: 2019−20 NASA Ruebens Trophy 2020−21 NASA Annual Design Cup: 2021−22 NASA Annual Design Cup: Personal Interests: Apart from the Architecture books in my college library, I enjoy reading books of various genres − Art, Philosophy, literature and Mathematics. I also enjoy playing chess. Rhino

LIBRARY AND MATERIAL STORE (BLOCK 1)LibraryC): to sky Reading area Store . Being academic work spaces for the students this space is flanked to the south by a more informal open to sky reading area leading to a stairway to the material library above. The consequent spaces are punctured by a shaft which unites both these spaces. per their function the spaces are clustered together to form Blocks. Each Block is designed to have a Primary space and various secondary spaces adjoining them which serve it. These spaces are then connected, placing the human scale as central, thus giving the structure coherence. The cluster Blocks formed by this process are arranged linearly across a a path; being an organizing element, allowing connections with the outside as well as being rooted to the public space, it is accessed from. One moves about the institute winding through the diffrent cluster Blocks from one end of the site to another

The Final Compostion of the clusters.

The Clusters arrived upon by the process of Clustering(previous spread), is arranged in such a way as to give rise to pockets of proximities which allow for activities of collaboration for the students. The spaces in, around and between buildings, becoming informal gathering and grouping spaces for the students of the respec tive departments. This design being arranged around a path the institute has the potential to add to the exist ing design, creating more potential pockets/spaces of possibilities .

A tribal village of 378 households, Jambhe is 34 kilometers away from the town of Vikramgad, and subsequently 34 kilometers away from financial, social and public services like hospitals, schools, colleges et cetera. It was necessary to begin, the design by acknowledging the necessities of the village community and provide a program of spaces which shelter these services; and provide the village with meaning, community and a sense of immunity.

The village is almost exclusively an agriculture dependant economy. Out of the 2000 adults 1800 are agricultural workers most of whom have only completed Pre Primary schooling. The village typology is a clusters of houses surrounded by Paddy fields. There is only a kaccha road that links it to the nearest town with no other internal roads. Most of the children have to terminate their education at Fith Grade as the current arrangement in the village does not offer Secondary schooling and these students would have to travel to the nearest town. ....... the paths through the building spaces. Mass Housing, Mulund East, Mumbai. Semester VII | Ongoing This Section is an excerpt from my ongoing Studio work for Architectural Design Semester 7. The program con sists of 40 3BHKs, 200 2BHKs and 300 3BHKs on a site of 17,000 SQM, with an effective FSI of 3. Compiled in this section of the portfolio is the design, drawings and thoughts on the 1BHK apartment buildings.

UNIT DESIGN: Each unit is essentially an arrangement of living spaces along an ‘L’shaped balcony in the centre. The form arrived upon by this approach is a 3/4th square which draws light and ventilation from the juncture of the alphabet ‘L’; services move from the left middle portion of the stem; and entry from the far end of its foot. The Balcony and the adjoing spaces of the Living room, Kitchen and Bedroom become the centres of activity in the house. Rotating each unit by 90 degrees around a central lobby ensures that every unit looks out to a different direction . Each unit having its own view and assured of not being viewed by any unit from any buiding. . 3D Conceptual Drawing of 1BHK floorplate . . Balcony area . . Floor area . 1. Common Lobby 2. The above design has a design limitation− square. But furthering on the previous step, one can mirror the design along the horizontal and vertical axis to expand the designs adaptibilty to other openings also.

The commonly seen ,mounted on the slab, Balcony Design/ fall protection seen for residential housing in Mumbai. If one mounts the fall protection on its sides of the concerned opening, one can apply the a ‘rotation’ along the plane of the balustrade to break the monotonity while keeping the costs minimum provided the opening is a square
