It was sheer excitement on Saturday, October 6, 2018, as the Seprod clan erupted with glee as the name “Seprod Limited” was announced not once, not twice but three times!!! Seprod Limited walked away with the most coveted awards for 2017Exporter of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year and Large Champion Exporter-Manufacturing at the recently held JMEA Awards Dinner. Our overjoyed CEO, Richard Pandohie, exclaimed, “I am excited and proud beyond belief that Seprod has won so massively; this is validation for the transformation that the Group has undertaken in the last 4 years to move the company from a dormant enterprise to be one of the leaders in manufacturing and export in the country.”

Serge O% Fat Free Milk Campaign Launch The sophisticated Serge 0% Fat Free Milk was launched on Wednesday, July 25, 2018. The launch took place at Emancipation Park with Social Media personality, Rohan “Quite Perry” Perry and Brand Ambassador, Shani McGraham-Shirley. After enduring the fitness challenges, the crowd grooved to the musical talent of Jeffery “Agent Sasco” Campbell.

Serge Shines at Denbigh 2018 Seprod’s participation at the 66th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural Show was indeed remarkable. The three-day event, held between August 4th and 6th 2018, exceeded all expectations in patrons’ involvement, sales and our continued dominance in the cattle parade.

Serge’s new kids on the block were up front and centre! Passersby were compelled to sample our Serge 0% Fat Milk, Serge Cherry Milk and Serge Chocolate Milk drinks. Kudos to Chrisette Gayle and team for another stellar execution!

Sales for Days!!! It was non-stop sales for Seprod at the show. The team of volunteers showed stellar Customer Service over the three-day event, even as a number of customers descended on the Seprod House.

“Give me some Serge, please!!! These were the undisputed stars of the Denbigh Show! The Seprod sampling station at Denbigh 2018 was stocked up on the newest Serge products, Serge Cherry Milk, Serge 0% Fat Milk and Serge Chocolate Milk.

“Show me your motion, sha la la la laaa” The young and the not so young were engaged in our light hearted activities throughout the day motivated by our MC, Markous Moore. These patrons were getting set to join in the usual antics on Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Intern Feature- Chenille Humes Chenille Humes, the 3rd year student studying Plant Science at College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) found her way to the Heifer Rearing Unit where she was tasked to take care of Mitzy. Though rearing cattle was far from Miss Humes’ intending area of study, she was grateful for the opportunity to expand her mental capacity. It helped her to apply concepts taught in school in a more commercial setting. She wants to thank Dr. Bent, Veterinarian of the Young Stock Unit, Ms. Marcia McPherson, Farm Manager of the Young Stock Unit and Dr. Gavin Bellamy, General Manager of Serge Island Farms Limited as they encouraged her to do her best as a college students. Miss Humes of course gave a “Big up” to the Denbigh Team for a wonderful experience. Her last lick advice was to the new interns. She implored them to “learn as much as possible. Learn something and practice what has been taught”. Her hope is that this scholarship will continue so that other students will benefit.

Featured Employee “Bravo, Miss Bravo!”

Shanek Bravo - Store Clerk at MIDL Ms. Shanek Bravo is the only female employee in the Group who is certified to operate the forklift. She was motivated to learn forklift operations to improve efficiency in her job as she meets her demanding deadlines. Ms. Bravo often had to wait on the availability of the other operators. She took the initiative and blazed a trail for herself, so, “bravo!”, Ms. Bravo.

New Graduate Intern Alert!

Our newest set of graduate interns gathered for a photo op with our CEO, Mr. Richard Pandohie, CFO, Damion Dodd and Group HIR Manager, Dr. Patrick Sterling at the Seprod Group of Companies Annual General Meeting held on Monday, September 17, 2018. These shining stars have been given the opportunity to learn, grow and hold their own within the Seprod family. Look out for them at a desk near you! Every PAN Weh Knock, We Deh Deh! ‘With every PAN weh knock, We Deh Deh! Yes, pun intended! Miracle and Serge are once again the sponsors of the CB Foods featured event - Pan. Our Miracle Ketchup is the official ketchup of this event and our Monster Milk Kiddies Village continues to get rave reviews from the patrons. The Buzz caught up with Promotions Executive, Miss Chrisette Gayle, after the execution of the second leg of Pan in St. Elizabeth and she is grateful that the Monster Milk Kiddies Village has received such overwhelming support. This is a good look.

Staff Fun Day It was a Spectular Day of Action and Adventure… one that has never been done before. The Seprod Group of Companies closed its door on Friday, August 3, 2018 and with a convoy of buses, and 1100 eager staff, made their way to Chukka Good Hope Adventures in Falmouth, Trelawny. The staff cued up for one of three thrillers at the venue: Zip Line, ATV/ Buggy or River Tubing in addition to the other engaging activities organized by the Fun Day Planning Committee.

Ity and Fancy Cat had the crowd engaged with their witty comments during the entertainment segment by the poolside. 5. Our Superstar, Keroy!!!

Keroy Benjamin of MIDL who represented Jamaica at the Obstacle Course Race (OCR) World Championship in London, placed 9th out of 100 in his age group. He took on the grueling 3-day feat and ended up making himself, Seprod Limited and Jamaica proud.

The Gems of St. Thomas Contributed by Mrs. Dorothy Hanson (GGSC HR) Known for the Morant Bay Rebellion of 1865, St. Thomas has secured its place in the history books. The parish with its rich heritage is often described as the ‘forgotten parish.’ Perceived as under-developed and the poorest parish, it has endured its share of trials, seemingly falling into obscurity. Lately, the only things we hear about St. Thomas is flooding, bad roads, unfavourable economic conditions and job losses. However, there are some unique and interesting things about the parish.

1. Serge Island - The largest cattle ranch on the island produces its own commercial milk brand. The property was originally a sugar plantation until the estate lands were converted to dairy farming and later a processing plant was added.

2. Golden Grove Sugar - The only sugar factory in the eastern end of the Island, since 2015, it has been producing the best brown sugar on the island.

3. Reggae Falls - Located near Seaforth, is an old dam on the Morant River with powerful waters thundering over an estimated 70 feet to mist the air and continuing downstream as the Johnson River. Its waters are touted to have healing properties due to its sulphur content.

4. Bath Fountain and Mineral Spa - Discovered by a runaway slave in 1695, this is one of Jamaica’s famous mineral spas. Its high mineral content (sulphur and lime) water is said to be effective in the treatment of skin diseases, gout, rheumatism and other ailments.

5. Bath Botanical Gardens - Jamaica’s oldest and the Caribbean’s second oldest botanical garden. Several imported species of plant we enjoy today, came from one of the nurseries here. The include breadfruit, ackee, otaheite apple, jackfruit and cinnamon.

6. Morant Point Lighthouse - This landmark structure, fashioned in London in 1841, is the oldest lighthouse on the island and the first cast iron lighthouse built in the Western Hemisphere.
