The People's Plan
The People’s Plan is a set of 12 public safety proposals for structural police reform on Long Island, developed by 3 communityled coalitions: LI United to Transform Policing and Community Safety, LI Advocates for Police Accountability, and United for Justice in Policing LI. The Plan was presented in response to an executive order than mandated all police departments in NY to create a plan to address racism and discrimination in the police system. On May 22nd, SEPA joined the coalitions behind the People’s Plan in Wyandanch Park for a memorial march for George Floyd.
For the People's Act
For the People’s Act is a national campaign and bill in Congress that seeks
to
reform
redistricting
commissions, fair elections, stopping government and corporate interests, and protecting voters rights. We had a total of 22 members join three rallies outside of Schumer's office in Melville, Long Island in June, July & September, where members gave their testimony. We also joined a meeting with Senator Schumer to urge him to pass For the People Act in the Senate.
