Cultivating Happiness

Here are some simple tips that you can do to boost your mood. Studies show if you one pick one or two and do them daily, you will increase your long-term happiness and wellbeing. Give them a try!

Recall a positive event from the day.

Because your brain does not know the difference between something that is really happening or just thinking about it, when you recall something good that happened that day, you relive it and you immediately become more positive. Do this regularly and your brain will begin focus more on what is good in your life.

Send an email or note to someone who made a difference to you, no matter how small.

Pause and observe your breath.

Spending just two minutes a day quietly focusing on your breath, just in and out, will significantly calm your mind, improve your mood and increase your productivity. Set a reminder on your phone, close your eyes and just breathe.

Get moving.

Studies show that just 15 minutes of fun exercise a day immediately boosts your energy and your mood. Dance to three of your favorite songs—like nobody is watching, take a break and really stretch or go for a brisk walk. You will be glad you did.
