CARE OF SEABROOK ISLAND COURSES
We hope all Seabrook Island Members will do your part in caring for our courses. The care we take as players can have a significant impact on the amount of time the grounds crew must spend on repairing damage. Each individual carries a responsibility to improve the course in consideration of the people who follow him
REPAIR YOUR DIVOT
Fill your divot from the sand bottles. Don’t forget to level the sand in the fairway.
REPAIR BALL MARKS ON THE GREEN
Repairing ball marks on the green is one of the most important things you can do to keep the course in top shape. Repairing a ball mark takes seconds, but can save weeks of healing to the putting surface
WALK CAREFULLY ON THE GREENS
Spike marks can make the putting surface just as bumpy as a ball mark.
RAKING BUNKERS
Take a moment to smooth the sand with the rake after playing a shot from the bunker. Leave the rake outside of the bunker when finished.
GOLF CART COURTESY
Follow the day’s golf cart policy and use the cart paths. Keep carts at least 20 yards from the green when using a medical flag
PICK-UP BROKEN TEES
Tees left on the teeing ground dull mower blades and increase the frequency with which sharpening is required.
CARING FOR PUSH CARTS
When possible try to avoid pushing your cart on the immediate apron around the green. PLEASE REMEMBER: This is your course and you should be proud of it.

2024 ISLAND CUP CHAMPIONS

2024 PLAYER OF THE YEAR

MIKE MANSFIELD
POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & WEEKLY EVENTS
MISSION STATEMENT
The MGA’s mission is to promote, encourage, and increase participation in men’s golf activities, while cultivating social interaction, camaraderie, and fair play within the membership.
MGA MEMBERSHIP
All Seabrook Island Club (SIC) members are invited to join the MGA when they have a USGA handicap index To establish a Handicap Index, a total of 54 holes must be played and posted to your scoring record. These scores can be made up of any combination of 9- or 18-hole rounds Once you have posted a total of three 18hole Score Differentials, a Handicap Index will be issued to you the very next day.
MGA members enjoy the opportunity to play in our weekly day games on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In addition to weekly events, MGA members are eligible to play in our Inter-club Events as well as other Special Events and Tournaments that are scheduled throughout the year.
MGA membership dues are collected annually and are used to support MGA events, pay out awards, and make appropriate donations. The annual membership fee is $60.00. Membership fees are billed to each member's SIC account at the beginning of each calendar year, or at the time of joining MGA

HANDICAP INDEX
MGA members maintain an active and current USGA handicap index. During all MGA events, each player’s score is recorded in Golf Genius and automatically posted by the Pro Shop. Handicaps make the game fair for everyone and allow golfers at different levels to play with each other on equal terms
PACE
OF PLAY
Excessive slow play ruins everyone’s golf experience. Players are expected to complete their rounds in 4 hours or less and are expected to adhere to any Pace of Play guidelines officially established. Your desired position on the course is immediately behind the group in front of you Failure to maintain pace by losing distance of one full hole is considered slow play.
Each foursome will have a speed monitor. The lowest handicapped player shall be the speed monitor. The speed monitor and his group have the responsibility to maintain the Pace of Play and to keep up with the group ahead of them. If you fail to speed up play after being asked by the Ranger multiple times to do so, each member of the group may be instructed to pick up and move forward one hole because you have lost sight of the group in front.
Participants should play ready golf. They should get ready on the tee, fairway, rough, hazards, and greens and in between the finishing green and next tee box. Unless it is of strategic importance to the competitor to have the honor and you are ready to hit and not endangering anyone, notify your competitors you are ready. With their concurrence, proceed with the shot, even though it may not be your turn to play. Additionally, continuous putting should be the norm. When a player begins putting on the green, he should continue until his ball goes in the hole.
To enhance Pace of Play, all MGA members with a GHIN Index of 30 or higher will be required to move to the next shorter tee box. For example, If a member Is a 31 handicap and plays from the Egret or White tees, he must move to the Pinch or Yellow tees
Noncompliance with the above will be considered egregious behavior by the MGA committee.
MGA WEEKLY EVENTS
The MGA hosts weekly events for all members and their guests on a space available basis on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
These events often include a team or individual skills challenge and typically prizes are awarded to at least one-third of all contributing participants. All MGA events are intended to encourage camaraderie and are a great opportunity for new or part-time members to feel included and involved. We use an A-B-C-D handicap pairing system.
All non-MGA Members will be billed $10 for each MGA play date that they play. The fee for the regular credit game is $5, which goes to the shop credit book for daily winners The Tuesday and Thursday games are a $10 cash game payable to the ProShop before playing. You may check winnings on the SIC mobile app.
All participants must have a USGA handicap. When less than a foursome is involved, a blind draw will determine the team skill outcomes.
Handicaps are only beneficial and fair if they are honest The MGA strongly encourages members to post all scores daily. Also, all rules of golf should be followed to include no preferred lies, no mulligans, and holing out all putts.
NET DOUBLE BOGEY
The maximum hole score for each player will be limited to a Net Double Bogey. This adjustment is more consistent from hole to hole than the Equitable Stroke Control procedure. Net Double Bogey is already used in many other parts of the world and the calculation is simple: Par + 2 + any handicap strokes you receive.
MGA CASH PAYOUT GUIDELINES
The MGA will try to pay approximately 50% of the field on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For example, if there are 4 teams, we will pay the top 2 teams. If 6 teams, the top 3 and so on. However, if there are only 2 or 3 teams , we will only pay 1st place. The calculations used for payouts include (1) the number of teams being paid, (2) the 4 closest to the Pins (CTP’s) on Par 3’s, and (3) Canadian Skins.
The usual max for the winners is $20 / player. The winning team should never exceed $25 /player
CLOSEST TO THE PIN ( CTP’s) always pays $5 / Hole
If possible, always pay the winning team in $5 increments
EXAMPLE : Lets look at a payout for a field of 24 players ($240)
Pay 50% of 24 players = 12 players = 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Payouts
1st Place 4 man team receives $80 or $20 / player
2nd Place 4 man team receives $60 or $15 / player
3rd Place 4 man team receives $40 or $10 / player
Team Payout is $180 which leaves $60 for CTPs and SKINS
Mandatory $20 for CTPs which leaves $40 for SKINS
The SKINS PAYOUT is calculated AFTER the winning teams and CPT’s have been calculated
$40 left for SKINS payout. If 10 SKINS, payout is $4. If 12 SKINS, payout is $3.
Typically the MGA never pays more than $5 / Skin
When less than a foursome is involved, a BLIND DRAW will determine the team skill outcome
A blind draw may receive $5 if his team does not cash and is paid only once
It is at the discretion of the Leadership Team and specifically the cash manager for that week to make ultimate decision on payouts.
MGA GOAL IS TO ALWAYS PAY WHAT IS TAKEN IN AND PAY HALF THE FIELD.
MGA PLAYER CONDUCT POLICY
By participating in any MGA event, the Member understands that his participation is at the discretion of the MGA. The player’s entry may be rejected by the committee at any time before the close of competition. It is the Members’ responsibility to ensure that all rules are adhered to and reinforced within their playing groups. Conduct rules are not limited to, but include the following:
Pace of Play
1.Keep up with group in front of you.
2. Play ready golf on the fairway and greens.
3. Follow USGA guidelines on max strokes per hole
4 Once MAX is reached, PICKUP, do not play out
PUTTING GUIDELINES
- all putts shall be holed out in any MGA event.
All players must comply with all tournament rules. No abusive language or conduct towards MGA and/or host facility, staff, volunteers, or other players will not be tolerated. It is the entire MGA membership’s responsibility to assure adherence to all rules. If any Member feels there was a play conduct issue, that Member should contact the committee to review their concern.
Penalties will be imposed for all egregious behavior and will include a verbal warning from the President and/or suspension from all MGA play for a TBD specified time period

BREACH OF RULES POLICY
It is assumed that the competitors play by the integrity of the Rules of Golf.
All competition is to be played by the USGA Rules of Golf and Seabrook Island Club local rules.
The committee in charge of the tournament has the right to investigate a potential breach of rules reported by a fellow competitor
If a person is found to be in breach of the rules, the committee has the right to disqualify the individual or team. Example: If a competitor signs an incorrect scorecard, he or she is disqualified.
If an individual is a repeat offender, the Golf Committee may place one of the following sanctions to the individual:
(a) Assign a marker to play with the competitor
(b) Do not allow the competitor to compete in competition for a specified period.
(c) Take other appropriate action.

MGA RAIN POLICY
TEE
TIMES
:
The last group must finish the 9th hole for a 9 hole event
If the last group does not finish 18 holes, it will be considered a 9 hole event with only the first 9 holes counting towards SKINS and CTP.
SHOT-GUN STARTS
Policy to mimic tee time policy
The same 9 holes need to be played by all players to be deemed a 9 hole match •All players must complete 18 holes for it to be an 18-hole event
SKINS and CTP prize monies will only be paid on those mutually played 9 holes
Regardless of the number of holes played, all players must play the same 9 holes
**THE DECISION TO SUSPEND / CANCEL THAT DAY’S EVENT WILL BE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE LEADERSHIP TEAM AND SPECIFICALLY THAT WEEK’S CASH MANAGER
SIGN-UP AND GAMES
Please sign up for any weekly event no later than 48 hours before the event using the Club’s online portal. If you miss this time, you may be accommodated if tee times exist, but it is not guaranteed.
HOLE-IN-ONE INSURANCE
All full resident members are automatically enrolled in the Club’s $2 hole-in-one insurance program Individuals may choose to opt out by contacting the accounting department. Individuals in other membership categories are encouraged to participate and may be enrolled by contacting the accounting department.
GOLF RULES
USGA Rules
United States Golf Association Rules will govern all play except when modified by the Seabrook Island Club’s local rules All Putts must be holed out.
SIC LOCAL RULES
No Play Zones
These areas exist on holes 15 and 16 on Ocean Winds. These penalty areas are marked with red or yellow stakes with green tops, but the contours of the hazards do not necessarily conform to a straight line between the stakes. To further define the hazard boundaries, it must be inferred that the line of the hazard should conform to the unmowed grass or vegetation that is approximately between the hazard stakes Play from within the No Play Zone is prohibited If the ball lies within the No Play Zone, the player must take a penalty stroke and proceed under Rule 17 1 If the ball does not lie within the No Play Zone, but the player must stand in that area to play the next stroke, he must take relief (without penalty) no closer to the hole such that the stroke may be played without standing in the No Play Zone.
Alternate to Stroke and Distance
When a player’s ball cannot be found or is thought to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows and apply two penalty strokes: take relief by dropping their ball in an area between (a) the point where the ball is believed to have come to rest (if lost) or crossed the out of bounds line (if OB) and (b) a point established by moving laterally to the edge of the fairway. The ball must be dropped in the fairway of the hole being played, within 2 club lengths of the edge of the rough but not nearer the hole (see Rule 14.3).
Sprinkler Heads Close to Putting Green
Relief from interference by an abnormal course condition (immovable obstruction) may be taken under Rule 16.1. In addition, if a ball lies off the putting green but not in a penalty area, and an abnormal course condition on or within two club lengths of the putting green and within two club lengths of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to where the ball lay that (a) is not nearer the hole, (b) avoids intervention and (c) is not in a penalty area or on a putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted.
DROP AREAS
Ocean Winds #15 Tee Shot
A drop area is available on #15 as an additional option for balls hit into the fronting penalty area.
Crooked Oaks #13 Tee Shot
A drop area is available on #13 for balls hit into the water.
Crooked Oaks #18 Tee Shot
A drop zone is available across the bridge on the right for all balls deemed to be lost in the penalty area, right of the fairway. For tee shots lost in the frontal pond, you must re-tee.

2025 PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Player of the Month will be the player that posts the highest points average of Stableford points for that month, based on a minimum of 7 rounds played during normal MGA play days (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday).
Regardless of the number of rounds played, only the best 7 rounds will be used to calculate the months average.
A player can win the Player of the Month only ONCE in a given year. Monthly ties will be broken by the player posting the most rounds for their average. If a tie still exists, we will use the USGA tie breakers.
