President's Report
Can you believe it? Wasn’t I just talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas? Matter of fact, it seems like just the other day we had our December SDML Board of Directors meeting. Now, just like that, January is over and it is already February.
February gets us right back in the swing of things with the Legislature moving full steam ahead. Yvonne and her staff will be busy working on items the Policy committees put together and were approved at the October Annual Conference. Please watch your email for weekly updates or follow the League on Facebook and Twitter for up to the minute legislative coverage. If you haven’t signed up for those updates, please contact the league office. On Tuesday, February 6th and 7th you have the opportunity to attend the Legislative Rib Dinner and Municipal Government Day at the Legislature. If your schedule allows, I would encourage you to attend. Back home, the Finance Officers are getting petitions organized for those of you whose term is up. In Baltic, we already have a bid opening scheduled for mid-February.
FEBRUARY 2018
I know it may seem a bit early to mention the District meetings in March. However, the reason I do is because over the years, we have seen a drop off in attendance. These meetings are a great opportunity for you to hear from Yvonne on how the legislative session went as well as interact with your neighboring communities.
You can find the District Meeting Schedule on page 13 of this issue. Also, if you would like to host a District Meeting in the future, please contact Lori Martinec or let a League staff member know at this year’s meeting. Stay warm and safe. Mike
