Affiliate Scholarship Funds Available Several SDML affiliate associations recently opened scholarship opportunities for their members. These scholarships offer financial assistance for members seeking to further their training and education in their field.
SD GOVERNMENTAL HUMAN RESOURCE ASSOCIATION
SD GOVERNMENTAL FINANCE OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION
Deadline: April 1 Application: www.sdmunicipalleague.org/financeofficers Qualifications: • Applicant must be a member of the South Dakota Governmental Finance Officers’ Association or become one prior to scholarship award. • Scholarship funds must be used to educate and enhance the performance of your duties as Finance Officer or Assistant Finance Officer. An applicant may apply for one of the following scholarship categories per year: Finance Officer School Scholarship Funds: • Applicant must be from a second- or third-class municipality. • A copy of applicant’s City Councils’ approval to attend Finance Officer School must be received with the application. • The scholarship fund allows for up to $800 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the Board. Professional Development Class or College Course Scholarship Funds: • Applicant must be from a second- or third-class municipality if city is paying expenses. A copy of the City Council’s approval to attend the course must be received with the application. • Applicant can be from any size municipality if applicant is paying the expenses. • A copy of the course description or agenda that includes the cost must be included with the application. • The scholarship fund allows for up to $800 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the Board. • Reimbursement for expenses will be made upon receipt of documentation of course completion from award recipient. Notification of award: Prior to Finance Officers’ School, held June 8-10 in Huron.
Deadline: April 1 Application: www.sdmunicipalleague.org/humanresource Qualifications: • Applicant must be a member of the South Dakota Governmental Human Resource Association (SDGHRA) or become one prior to scholarship award. • Applicant must be from a second- or third-class municipality. • Scholarship funds must be used to attend the annual SD Governmental Human Resource School. • The scholarship fund allows for up to $600 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the Board. • The SDGHRA will reimburse the scholarship recipient for expenses related to registration, lodging and transportation. Recipient is responsible for keeping all receipts and submitting them to the SDML for reimbursement. All reimbursement costs are subject to the SDGHRA Board approval. • A copy of applicant’s City Councils’ approval for the travel must be received with application. Notification of award: Prior to Human Resource School, held June 7-8 in Huron.
SD ASSOCIATION OF CODE ENFORCEMENT
Deadline: April 1 Application: www.sdmunicipalleague.org/codeenforcement Qualifications: • Applicant must be a member of the South Dakota Association of Code Enforcement (SoDACE) or become one prior to scholarship award. • Scholarship funds must be used to educate and enhance the performance of your duties as a Code Enforcement Officer. • The scholarship fund allows for up to $1,000 per year. These funds may be awarded to more than one applicant at the discretion of the SoDACE Board. All scholarship funds are subject to SoDACE board approval. • Educational opportunities are not limited strictly to in-state. • A copy of applicant’s City Councils’ approval for the travel must be received with application. Notification of award: Prior to the SoDACE Workshop, held May 11-12 in Ft. Pierre. ■
