Lomeshaye Life It has been a busy and exciting two weeks in school. A new learning theme has started for the whole school and we are all really enjoying the wonderful opportunities and events that have taken place so far . Read on to find out more... Roald Dahl theme and the BFG visit— last week we started a new whole school learning theme based on the famous children’s author Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl wrote many children’s books in his life time and this year celebrates his 100th birthday. To mark the authors special birthday each class in school are studying a Roald Dahl story as part of their learning in English. To lauch the wonderful theme in school we had a visit from the B.F.G (Big Friendly Giant), one of the characters that Roald Dahl created. The B.F.G came to tell us his story which he brought to life with puppets and props which was great fun to watch.
McMillian Coffee Afternoon— thanks to all of the family and children that came to Mrs. Safdar’s coffee and cake afternoon to raise funds for the McMillan cancer charity. Your contributions will be very well received and we hope that you all enjoyed your cakes.
Tea in the Park Community Event— last weekend saw the very first community Tea in the Park event organised by the Whitefield Community Forum, Friends of Victoria Park and Lomeshaye Junior School. The afternoon in the park was a roaring success and was attended by locals from different sections of our community. The school got involved by several staff giving up their free time to run activities for families and also in order for members of the school choir to give their first public performance this year. There should be more events organised in the future that we, as a school, will be involved in; we hope to see you at the next one.
