Welcome Punctuality The school day begins at 8.55am. The school doors open at 8.45am to ensure that pupils are in their places for registration or assembly when the register is taken at 8.55am prompt.

When pupils arrive late to school they are missing teacher’s instructions and the introduction to the lesson.

Have you given your email address to the school office staff? Receiving school letters via email ensures you receive the latest information. Please ensure you check your child’s bag regularly for letters-thank you.

Music lessons There will be no music lessons or guitar on Thursday 30th June- this is due to changes in the timetable by One Education who supply the music teacher. Mr MacKinnon will be leaving us at the end of term to relocate to London; his last day will be Thursday 21st July. The new music in residence teacher is Ms K Burke. Children will be having a different teacher for guitar; once I have been informed as to their name I will let parents know.

Uniform for September If you require school uniform for September please see the school office.

Please remember that children must wear black school shoes without any sports markings; shoes with coloured soles are not allowed. Children also need a full PE kit for school including black pumps/trainers; these should be brought to school in a draw string PE bag. All uniform should have your child’s name written clearly inside.

The only school bags that will be allowed in school are the blue book/school bags sold by the office. Larger bags are not allowed as they present a fire risk when stored. Please do not buy fashion bags for school!

Welfare Pupils are not allowed to bring toys, balls, and football cards/trade cards or Snap Bangs (novelty fireworks) into school. Any such items will be confiscated and parents asked to collect them. Playtime equipment is provided by school.

School Nurse- the school nurse is in school every Monday afternoon. If you have a health concern you would like to discuss with her about your child please ring the school office to arrange an appointment.

Preparation for later Life Over the last few weeks we have had a range of speakers in school to talk about their professions and the different careers paths children may consider when they are older. Each class has also been set an enterprise task, to make £20.00 grow through a work task. Pupils surveyed staff and children before deciding on their enterprise venture. This week we have had: a coffee shop, car washing sessions for parents and staff; face painting and various food options. Whilst this has been a lot fun, these tasks have encompassed a lot of entrepreneurial skills such as: managing a budget; customer service satisfaction; cooperation and negotiation skills. Thank you to everyone who has supported this week’s events; there are a few classes yet to undertake their project and I am sure they will be equally successful. All funds raised by the children will go into school fund and as a result benefit our pupils directly.

Masses Parish and School Sunday Mass Sunday 26th June -10.20-11.30am. Thank you to all the children who are coming along.

KS2 Sports Day at the Indoor Athletics Stadium (Etihad) - This will be rearranged for the new academic Year.

Year 6 leavers assembly Wednesday 20th July 9.10am. tbc Year 6 leavers Mass and meal – Thursday 21st July- letters to follow.

22nd at 1pm Summer term ends on Friday.

Important Information.

Today, the National Union of Teachers announced that members in England have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action to protect pay and working conditions. They are calling the first day of strike action on 5th July. The strike demands are to increase funding to schools and education, guarantee terms and conditions in all types of schools, and to resume negotiations on teacher contracts to allow workload to be addressed. I will be speaking to staff and governors early next week to see how this affects St Anne’s and will let you know the outcome ASAP.
