Currently, there are 163 grammar schools in England, educating approximately 167,000 pupils, and 67 more in Northern Ireland. Importantly, grammar schools do not exist in Scotland or Wales, as these countries have adopted comprehensive education systems.
History and Evolution of Grammar Schools
Grammar schools have a rich history that dates back to the 16th century.
