SOURIS SCHOOL NEWSLETTER http://schools.shmb.ca/sci. Number 9, December 21, 2012 NEWS FROM MR. WILLIAMS Cold, Cold, Cold!!! Firstly, thank you to the students, staff, and parents who organized and participated in the Christmas Concert. It was a wonderfully enjoyable event. We are very proud of your efforts and are already looking forward to what great songs you will perform next year. Once again, students at Souris School participated in a number of activities during the Season of Giving. Here is a list of the highlights:

winners of the Christmas Wreath and Christmas Mail box. Thank you to all who supported this fundraiser. WE TRIED!! A big thank you to everyone who brought non-perishable food items for Christmas Cheer this year. Unfortunately we did not quite fill Mr. Williams office, but many families will benefit greatly from the food that was brought in this holiday season. All the food that was collected for the ‘Christmas Food Bank Challenge’ and ‘Halloween for Hunger’ stay in Souris at the local food bank. Thank you for all who donated!

1. Our Make Change group travelled to Samaritan House and Helping Hands Soup Kitchen. Thank you to Mrs. Sobry for organizing this event. 2. Student Council students served cookies and dainties outside Bigway while collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations to support our local Christmas Cheer Hamper Drive and Food Bank. 3. Our entire school participated in a food drive for local Christmas Cheer Hamper Drive and Food Bank. 4. Student Council Mitten Tree. 5. Student Council Coats for Christmas. 6. Bad Boys and Cool Chicks performed at the Lion’s Supper. 7. Middle Years students made and delivered Place Mats to the Personal Care Home. It is so refreshing to see our students give a bit of themselves for those less fortunate. Have a safe and enjoyable holiday. See you on Jan 7th, 2013. PLACEMATS BRING JOY! On Tuesday, December 18th, two students from each grade 6-8 classrooms travelled to Victoria Park Lodge and the Personal Care Home in Souris. Here they delivered colorful hand made placements that each student created for Seniors to use and enjoy this season! Connecting with Seniors is beneficial for everyone! FOOTBALL The 2012 Sabres Football season was a huge success!
