Love is in the air — and in the pages of our latest Weddings issue, a celebration of all things wedding and those unforgettable “I do” moments. Whether you’re a bride-to-be, a maid of honor, or just someone who loves gushing over beautiful gowns and heartfelt vows, this issue has something special for you.
We’re bringing you not one, but four stunning weddings. And even better, we’ve handpicked two of our brides to share their stories that capture all the details, emotions, and magic of the big day. One of these featured celebrations (pg 13) takes us to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Jo & Marty are planning a “‘Til Death” wedding for September 21 that perfectly reflects their personalities. And Grace & Landon (pg 21) picked April 6 in Pensacola, Florida, for their celebration full of local charm and love-filled moments. Each wedding tells its own story, but together, they remind us that there’s no one “right” way to do a wedding, only your way.
Each Weddings issue always takes me back to my own wedding. I opted for a destination wedding with a limited guest list — not because I wanted to leave anyone out, but because I wanted simplicity and peace of mind on my big day. For me, fewer guests meant less stress, and I was all in for that! A smaller group also led to smaller cakes … cupcakes, actually … a small, homemade batch made by my bestie and enjoyed as the perfectly sweet ending to the day.
And if you need any extra encouragement to make those out-of-the-box decisions yourself, our Inner Beauty feature, Your Wedding, Your Rules, might be just the thing for you. It’s a refreshing reminder that your day doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Want to skip the bouquet toss? Do it. Thinking about wearing sneakers under your gown? Ok, babe! Weddings are at their best when they celebrate your individuality.
Ok, real talk. Nobody wants to earn the dreaded title of Bridezilla, but we know how easily nerves and pressure can get the best of us. That’s why Wedding Planning without the Panic is packed with tips to help you stay calm, laugh off the little mishaps, and avoid snapping at your loved ones. Because in the end, it’s not about everything being perfect — it’s about enjoying the moment and starting a marriage with joy (and maybe some delicious cake)
So here’s to the brides, the grooms, the friends, the families, and everyone who makes these celebrations so special. Pour yourself a glass of bubbly, put your feet up, and dive into our Weddings issue.
At Scarlett , we love bringing you the latest in women’s fashion, beauty, home decor, lifestyle, and health. Thank you all so much for the support as we continue through our fifth year of Scarlett. Enjoy this issue and connect with us on social media on Facebook: Scarlett Magazine and Instagram: @scarlett.magazine. Because frankly, we know you give a damn.

Some love stories start with fireworks. Others, like Jo Rich and Marty Stanovich’s, begin “out and about” in Pensacola in the early 2000s … two people crossing paths, not knowing the spark would smolder for years before finally igniting. That spark ignited during a charity event for AMIkids, where they found themselves working side by side. One year later, they were inseparable.
Marty, ever the romantic, planned a weekend getaway to New Orleans — Jo’s favorite kind of city, full of history, music, and mystery. What she didn’t know was that he had also “snuck in” a few of her best friends for the occasion. In the heart of Jackson Square, with the buzz of the French Quarter around them, Marty popped the question. Jo said yes, and the countdown began.
Set for September 21, 2025, the theme is “Til Death” — a nod to timeless commitment, wrapped in the rich, moody
beauty of New Orleans itself. Their venue, Marché, will host 125 of their favorite people against a backdrop of black with deep red and green accents. And instead of cake, authentic New Orleans beignets will be served, because who says romance can’t be powdered-sugar sweet?
The date wasn’t random either. Both share a love for Earth, Wind & Fire, and “September” was the perfect soundtrack to their forever. Jo will walk down the aisle wearing small mementos gifted by her best friends, marry in front of officiant Ryan Thomas, and share a first dance with Marty to Etta James’ “A Sunday Kind of Love.”
And that ring? Let’s just say it has a story all its own. Jo’s friend dropped a hint that “Jo’s ring needs to be so big she will struggle to get her hand in her purse!” And Marty took that to heart! He went to an old friend, Barry Cole of Beré Jewelers, who sourced the diamond at a Las Vegas show.
The platinum mount had to be custom built in California because Jo is allergic to gold. The end result is as dazzling as their love story.
When the music plays on September 21, Jo and Marty’s love story will take center stage — wrapped in the charm of the French Quarter, the laughter of their favorite people, and the sweetness of beignets. It’s a celebration that’s as unapologetically them as the day they met, a perfect blend of romance, fun, and a little New Orleans magic.
And in Jo’s words, the plan is simply to “Relax and just enjoy having a day with my love and the people I love the most. No one will remember anything else.”

What began as a spontaneous volleyball game in Atlanta turned into the kind of love story that feels meant to be. Grace Tegenkamp, a bright-eyed optometrist from Pensacola, Florida, and Landon Kirkland, a thoughtful chemical engineer from Brewton, Alabama, first crossed paths during an impromptu Sunday match with mutual friends from church. Grace was in town for an internship with an ophthalmology practice, and Landon was working full time in the city … but neither expected a casual game to spark such a deep connection. “It was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the kind of effortless connection that only happens when you're totally not expecting it,” Grace recalls.
Twenty-six months after that unexpected Sunday, Landon proposed to Grace under a moss-draped oak at the Grand Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. The couple had just finished a family brunch and were strolling near the pond
when Landon got down on one knee beneath the sweeping Southern branches. He had designed Grace’s ring himself at Beré Jewelers — just one of many thoughtful touches that made their engagement and wedding feel deeply personal.
The two were engaged for ten months before tying the knot on April 6, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida. The ceremony and reception were held at Supposey Warehouse and Gardens, a venue known for its blend of natural beauty and industrial charm. The couple leaned into a romantic, timeless theme, with champagne bridesmaid dresses, classic black suits for the groomsmen, and soft white florals kissed with spring pinks. “I’ve always been inspired by timeless and classic looks,” Grace says. “Because it never goes out of style.”
Surrounded by about 110 friends and family members, Grace and Landon exchanged vows they wrote themselves,
www.ScarlettMag.com
in a ceremony officiated by Lindell Cooley. Grace’s bridal party was made up of lifelong friends — including her maid of honor and hairstylist, Molly French — and Landon’s sister, Lauren. As meaningful as the vows were, one of the most memorable moments came during their worship segment. “Our faith in God is everything to us,” Grace says. That spiritual grounding flowed through the day, creating a celebration not just of two people, but of the divine hand they believe brought them together.
After the ceremony, guests moved into the warehouse space for a joyful reception, where a live band kept the energy high and the dance floor full. The couple’s first dance was to the Haley Reinhart version of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” — but partway through, Landon surprised everyone by picking up his violin and playing the rest of the song himself. “It was my favorite moment,” Grace says, smiling.
The night ended on a sweet note with strawberry shortcake-flavored wedding cake, lovingly crafted by Heather Pelham of Magnolia. Every vendor played a role in making the day shine — from Jo Rich’s flawless makeup artistry to the lush florals by Fiore and a trusted third-party florist, to the expert planning by Dixie Grace. Grace wore her dream dress from I Do Bridal in Mobile, Alabama, while Landon donned a classic black tux from Gent’s Formal Wear, an understated look that fit perfectly with their elegant aesthetic.
Looking back on it all, Grace has simple, heartfelt advice for other brides-to-be: “Plan with intention, not perfection. Let your day be about love, not logistics. And always keep God at the center.”
Not all heroes wear capes, some wear fabulous heels. Being a woman can be a difficult job. We are often expected to be everything to everyone. Work hard to reach your full potential in your career field, but also raise a family inbetween. Make sure you meet all of your deadlines at work but also bake a casserole and join a book club. While it may seem overwhelming to “do it all,” there are a few local women who seem to have it figured out. And, for that, they are my heroes; or should I say heroines. Malala Fund said, “I want every girl to know that her voice can change the world.” This group of women are bravely climbing to the top and making a difference in the lives of those around them.
In these articles, we are raising a glass to some amazing women along the Gulf Coast. As successful businesswomen and entrepreneurs, these women are the examples that we need for our youth. Some are mothers, some are bosses, some are adventurous, some lead quietly from the sidelines, but there is one thing they all have in common — they are heroines. The leaders, the path blazers, the extraordinary women that always go a step above the rest. A heroine is defined as a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. These fearless women are that and more.
ChandraMcKern has called many places home, but Pensacola, Florida, has become the city where her passions, talents, and dedication have taken center stage. Originally from Bettendorf, Iowa, she now serves as the General Director of Pensacola Opera, celebrating her 10th anniversary with the organization this year. Under her leadership, the opera has flourished as a hub for cultural connection, offering everything from grand performances at the Saenger Theatre to intimate concerts in schools, libraries, retirement homes, and even outdoor festivals. For Chandra, the mission is clear — nurture existing audiences, welcome new ones, and enrich the community
both culturally and economically. Her journey to this role began in a house full of strong, intelligent, independent, and hard-working women. After her parents divorced when she was very young, her mother became a constant source of love, support, and encouragement, even in the face of challenges. Chandra grew up surrounded by the arts — dance classes, voice lessons, and orchestra concerts filled her schedule. She dreamed of moving to New York City and performing on Broadway, and pursued her passion by studying Vocal Performance in college. But along the way, she realized her anxiety as a performer might limit her ability to thrive on stage. Instead, she discovered
she could make an even greater impact in arts administration, championing the very art form she loved from behind the scenes.
Today, her motivation comes not only from the art itself but from the people she works with. Pensacola is, in her words, filled with “incredible human beings” committed to making the community better. Bringing live opera to people of all ages and backgrounds is her passion. For Chandra, nothing compares to the thrill of a live performance, where music, storytelling, and artistry blend to create an unforgettable experience. If she could give her 20-year-old self advice, Chandra would say the biggest roadblock to success is fear —
fear of failing, fear of not being enough. She’d tell herself to embrace the inevitable missteps, to fail spectacularly when necessary, and to walk away from relationships that no longer serve her. And perhaps most importantly, she’d remind herself to ask for what she wants, knowing the worst that can happen is hearing the word “no.”
While her professional achievements are many, Chandra’s proudest accomplishment is motherhood. Raising her two children has been both her greatest joy and her most humbling challenge. She describes it as the “quiet courage of showing up every day,” even when exhaustion and selfdoubt creep in. Finding a healthy balance between her work and family has transformed her in unexpected and beautiful ways, making her even more committed to living a life of passion and purpose.
Her list of female influences is long, but Dolly Parton and Michelle Obama stand out as icons of authenticity, resilience, and generosity — qualities Chandra strives to embody in her own life and leadership. That leadership has already left a lasting mark on Pensacola. Pensacola Opera provides countless free programs and performances throughout the year, particularly in Title I schools where
students may not otherwise have access to the arts. By removing financial barriers, the organization ensures every child, regardless of background, can experience the magic of live theatre.
Looking to the future, Chandra dreams of a new state-ofthe-art building for Pensacola Opera, one that would allow for expanded programming year-round and serve as an affordable venue for other local artists. It’s a vision rooted in the belief that art strengthens communities, not just socially and educationally, but economically as well.
For Chandra, success is not a solo act. She credits her talented staff and dedicated Board of Trustees for making the opera’s mission possible. She works to foster a culture of openness and trust, where creativity can flourish, productivity thrives, and everyone, from staff to artists to audience members, feels valued. In every note sung, every curtain call, and every community connection, her passion resonates, proving that the arts aren’t just entertainment — they’re a vital, unifying force.
Founder & CEO, Akers&Co Navarre, FL
Lyndsey Akers
ForLyndsey Akers, life has been anything but linear, but that’s exactly what’s made it so meaningful. Born and raised in a tiny South Carolina town with fewer than 1,000 residents and just one caution light, Lyndsey always had big dreams and an even bigger drive. After college in Charleston and a chance meeting with a young U.S. Air Force Airman, her path took a detour — one full of movement, growth, and unexpected beauty. That detour eventually led her to the Florida Panhandle, where she and her family now call Navarre home.
Lyndsey is the Founder and CEO of Akers&Co., a public relations and visibility consulting firm that works with mission-driven leaders to build powerful brands through storytelling, earned media, and strategic positioning. Her passion for connection runs deep. She’s not just building businesses; she’s building legacies. As a nationally respected PR strategist, podcast host, speaker, and advocate, Lyndsey helps women entrepreneurs and military spouses own their brilliance and confidently step into the spotlight. Her own story has been shaped by both grit and grace. After a decade in Washington, D.C., she had envisioned climbing the corporate ladder, but life had other plans. Becoming a mother in 2019 shifted everything, leading her to question what legacy she truly wanted to leave. Instead of chasing titles, she chose to build a life that aligned with her values — one that honors family, creates impact, and models purpose. That decision led to the creation of Akers&Co and her podcast, Present & Powerful: Omnipresence in Leadership and Motherhood, a space that speaks to high-achieving women balancing big ambitions with even bigger responsibilities.
A lifelong advocate for military families, Lyndsey served as Chair of the United Forces & Families Community, a national task force under the Air & Space Forces Association that tackles quality-of-life issues like housing, healthcare, and employment. She also volunteers locally with America’s VetDogs and supports entrepreneurs through coaching, speaking, and mentorship. Her leadership style is rooted in empathy, consistency, and a fierce belief that visibility drives change — not for ego, but for impact.
Her biggest influence? Her Grandmama Bunny, a strong Southern woman who led with wisdom, humor, and a heart for service. Bunny modeled what it means to lead with purpose, to serve deeply where you’re planted, and to make a difference through presence rather than prestige. Grateful to still have her around today, her impact and influence still shows up in everything Lyndsey does, from boardrooms to bedtime routines.
Though she now embodies the polished professionalism of a CEO, Lyndsey’s early years were filled with sweat, teamwork, and competition. A self-proclaimed jock, she played softball through high school and into college, learning valuable lessons in leadership, communication, and perseverance. Those skills laid the groundwork for the dynamic woman she is today — someone who can handle high-stakes business decisions while still making time for slow breakfasts with her kids.
Success, for Lyndsey, has evolved from titles and accolades to alignment and impact. Lyndsey shares the powerful realization that, “Success looks different for everyone, and I’ve learned that the key is defining it on your own terms.” It’s about being able to pick her kids up from school, advocate for military families, help women step into their power, and still feel present and fulfilled at the end of the day. It’s about being the kind of woman her children, and her community, can look up to.
To maintain balance, Lyndsey swears by her solo business retreats: a quiet beachfront hotel, space to think, and time to reconnect with her vision. These annual (soon to be biannual) getaways are her form of self-care, a way to recalibrate and return to her work and family with renewed clarity. As Lyndsey puts it, “those intentional pauses have become one of the best gifts I can give myself. They’ve made all the difference in how I show up for my business, my family, and myself.”
As her husband prepares to retire from the Air Force, Lyndsey is looking ahead with both excitement and intention. With a future no longer dictated by duty stations, she’s focused on expanding her podcast, building community among high-achieving women, and continuing to grow Akers&Co with heart. For Lyndsey, what’s next is all about alignment — doing meaningful work, creating joyful impact, and leading a life that feels just as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.

Carns Area General Manager, Henderson Beach Resort + Henderson Park Inn Destin, FL
photography provided by: John Carns
From the beaches of Orlando to the emerald waters of Destin, John Carns has always had a deep appreciation for the places he calls home. Today, as Area General Manager for Henderson Beach Resort and Henderson Park Inn, he blends his professional expertise with a heartfelt commitment to the community, creating experiences that leave lasting impressions on both guests and neighbors. For John, hospitality isn’t just about beautiful accommodations and exceptional service, it’s about fostering a culture where people feel valued, supported, and connected.
John’s path to leadership is shaped by both his professional dedication and personal values. Overseeing day-to-day operations of two of the area’s most beloved properties, he focuses on cultivating an environment where his team thrives and guests feel cared for in every detail. That same spirit extends beyond the resort grounds into the broader Destin community. Whether supporting the Destin Chamber’s Hospitality Day or partnering with local organizations like Alaqua Animal Refuge and Westonwood Ranch, John is intentional about aligning with causes that speak to his heart. These partnerships not only benefit the community but also create opportunities for his team to engage in meaningful outreach.
His philosophy is simple: when you live in a community, you have a responsibility to contribute to it. For John, giving back isn’t an obligation — it’s second nature. “Being part of a team and an area that cares deeply makes it easy to get involved,” he says. “Helping others, whether through hospitality or outreach, feels like the natural thing to do.” Over the next five years, he plans to strengthen those ties even further, deepening relationships with local nonprofits and finding new ways for his team and properties to contribute, whether through sponsorships, volunteer work, or direct support.
John’s leadership style is grounded in the belief that people get out of a role what they’re willing to put into it. He’s quick to credit the passion and commitment of those around him, taking pride in guiding others toward growth and success. Watching
his colleagues rise to challenges and take ownership of their progress is as rewarding to him as any professional milestone. His advice for those starting out, something he would tell his own 20-year-old self, reflects this balance of ambition and practical skill. He would encourage a young professional to pursue both hospitality and finance early on, ensuring they have the business acumen to seize future opportunities in development while still gaining the operational experience that reveals the heart of the industry.
Yet for all his career achievements, John’s proudest moments have nothing to do with titles or awards. They center on family — specifically, seeing his two children graduate with advanced degrees. Their hard work, determination, and ability to chart their own courses represent everything he hopes to instill as both a father and a role model. This pride and gratitude are rooted in lessons learned from his greatest female influence: his mother. Her strength,
values, and unwavering support have shaped him both personally and professionally, providing the example he strives to live up to each day.
Living in Destin has given John the best of both worlds — professional fulfillment in a dynamic hospitality industry and the personal joy of being part of a vibrant, tight-knit coastal community. His work is about more than overseeing properties; it’s about creating a culture that values people, builds relationships, and leaves a positive mark on the place he now calls home. Whether mentoring a team member, supporting a local cause, or welcoming guests to the stunning Gulf Coast, John’s approach is the same: lead with integrity, invest in people, and remember that the smallest acts of service can create the most lasting impact.
In Destin, where the charm of the Gulf meets the warmth of community, John Carns stands out as a leader who blends professionalism with heart. His dedication to his team, his guests, and the causes he supports reflects a belief that true success is built on connection and purpose. Whether he’s shaping unforgettable resort experiences, mentoring future leaders, or lending a hand to local organizations, John’s influence extends well beyond the walls of Henderson Beach Resort and Henderson Park Inn, leaving an impact as lasting as the sunsets over the Emerald Coast.
written by: Molly Rivers
Once upon a time, weddings came with a manual. There were rules about what to wear, what to serve, who to invite, and how to walk, talk, and toss the bouquet. But these days? That manual is being rewritten by bold, brilliant couples who are doing things their way — and loving every second of it.
If you’ve ever felt pressure to follow tradition for tradition’s sake, consider this your official permission slip to shake things up. Whether you’re planning a beachfront brunch ceremony, eloping in the mountains
with just your dog and a drone, or throwing a glitterfilled dance party in your backyard, the most important rule to remember is that this celebration should reflect you.
Maybe you’re skipping the white dress in favor of a sequined jumpsuit. Maybe your bridal party is just your sister and your best friend from college, and they’re wearing whatever they want. Or maybe you’re walking down the aisle to your favorite 90s R&B ballad with no flowers in sight. Whatever makes you feel like you,
that’s what you should do. The traditions that feel meaningful? Keep them. The ones that don’t? Let them go without guilt. This is also your green light to say no to things that stress you out or make you feel like you’re performing for other people. Don’t want a bouquet toss? Don’t toss it. Feel weird about having a giant wedding cake? Go for donuts, pie, or a table full of desserts from your favorite local bakery. Tired of the same old speeches? Hand the mic to someone unexpected, or skip the formalities entirely and focus on moments that feel natural.
You’re allowed to set boundaries and stick to them, even if that means limiting your guest list, turning down ideas from well-meaning relatives, or choosing to invest in experiences over decorations. You don’t owe anyone a Pinterest-perfect day. What you do owe yourself is authenticity. If that looks like a taco truck instead of a plated dinner or a barefoot ceremony on your grandma’s front porch instead of a rented ballroom, go for it.
Couples often feel like their wedding is a show that has to impress every person in the room, but the truth is, the people who matter most just want to see you happy. When your wedding reflects who you are, that joy becomes contagious. The smiles will be real, the laughter will come easily, and your guests will remember how they felt more than how it all looked.
Of course, going your own way doesn’t mean everything has to be unconventional. You might find yourself falling in love with some very traditional details, and that’s great too. The point isn’t to reject every custom, but to choose with intention. There’s beauty in blending the old and the new, in creating a celebration that honors your story in all its unique, wonderful weirdness.
Weddings are a celebration of love, not a test you have to pass or a performance you have to perfect. There’s no scorecard, no secret formula, and no need to please everyone. Your wedding day should feel like a big, joyful exhale, not a pressure cooker of expectations.
So throw out the rulebook, listen to your gut, and plan a day that makes you feel seen, supported, and wildly in love. If it makes you smile, it’s right. If it feels like a chore, it probably doesn’t belong. The magic happens when you stay true to yourself — whatever that looks like, however that sounds, and whoever is lucky enough to be there to witness it.
Because at the end of the day, it’s your wedding. And your rules are the only ones that matter.

Hello! I’m Joanna Davis, resident Foodie expert — a lifelong lover of delicious bites and local gems. Born into a Filipino family where food was a cherished love language, meals were more than just nourishment — they were connection, celebration, and culture. From becoming a Yelp Elite to launching a successful foodfocused Instagram page, I now have over 50,000 followers and have judged food festivals, dined across the Emerald Coast, and supported countless small businesses from Pensacola to Destin.
Igrew up in a family that believed food was meant to be shared. Some of my earliest memories are standing in line at buffets with my parents, eyes wide with excitement at the endless choices, or carrying heaping plates at the Filipino potlucks my mom brought me to. At those gatherings, every dish was a labor of love, a piece of family history, and the joy came not just from the food itself but from being able to try it all. That sense of abundance and togetherness is something I carry with me to this day.
As an adult, I’ve come to appreciate that the beauty in “trying it all” doesn’t just live at potlucks or buffets — it’s alive and well in the vibrant food festivals and culinary events right here along the Emerald Coast. Fall is festival season, and there’s no shortage of opportunities to graze, sample, and savor. The Destin Seafood Festival (Sept. 26-28) is a community favorite, bringing together local flavors with Gulf views. For an elevated experience, there’s Toast on the Coast (Oct. 5 at The Henderson Resort), hosted by the Junior League of the Emerald Coast — a women-run organization raising money to support our community. Just a few days later at The Market Shops, the Bloody Mary Festival (Oct. 11) features unlimited tastes of unique, hand-crafted bloody marys made with Distillery 98’s Half Shell Vodka and prepared by a variety of the Emerald Coast’s best local restaurants, bars, and catering companies. If you’re up for authentic Greek food, pastries, beer, wine, and Greek dancing, then the Greek Fest in Fort Walton Beach (Oct. 17-19) is a must! And if brunch is your love language, Brunch Fest (Oct. 26) is a can’t-miss event, benefiting the Boys and Girls Club.
One of the joys of attending events like these is that they can be guilt-free in more ways than one. First, the proceeds often support a worthy cause, making your ticket a small way of giving back. Second, when we approach these events with the art of grazing in mind, we can enjoy the variety without leaving stuffed or sluggish. A little mindfulness goes a long way — taking smaller portions, pausing between bites, and letting yourself truly taste what’s in front of you.
Mindful eating isn’t about restriction — it’s about presence. It’s about tuning into more than just flavor like the laughter of friends across the table, the hum of live music, the scent of seafood sizzling nearby, and the simple pleasure of being part of a shared experience.
Our brains are wired to seek joy in food, and when we slow down, we give our pleasure centers permission to fully light up. Each bite becomes more than fuel; it becomes a privilege, a celebration, and a connection.
And if you’re on the other side of the table — planning an upcoming wedding, shower, or private event — supporting local, women-owned businesses is a beautiful way to elevate your spread. A few of my personal favorites: Chef Jennifer Lowry of Conchitas, who creates stunning, flavor-packed open fire catering experiences that wow any crowd, and Graze Craze in Gulf Breeze, whose charcuterie boards are as artful as they are delicious.
Because at the end of the day, food is more than something we eat. It’s an experience, a memory, and sometimes, even a legacy. And when we approach it with mindfulness, generosity, and joy, we discover the true beauty in every bite.

You said yes, and now you’re knee-deep in color swatches, cake tastings, and group chats that somehow turned into therapy sessions. Welcome to wedding planning — the beautiful, chaotic, occasionally stress-inducing season that tests everything from your patience to your group-text etiquette. Whether you’re the bride, maid of honor, or a bestie in the bridal party, here’s how to keep your cool (and your relationships intact) when the wedding madness kicks in.
Repeat after us: There is no such thing as a perfect wedding. Things will go wrong. The florist might get peonies confused with ranunculus. Aunt Susan may bring her “friend” who wasn’t technically invited. And you might have a minor meltdown about linen shades. It’s all okay. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of joy. Focus on the big picture: you’re getting married (or helping someone you love get married), and that’s a pretty amazing thing.
Wedding stress can bring out the worst in even the most patient people. That’s why honest, respectful communication is your best friend. Whether it’s talking budget boundaries with your partner, asking your mom to please stop adding “just one more guest,” or gently letting your bridesmaid know that turquoise cowboy boots are not part of the dress code — being clear and kind is the goal. Don’t bottle things up or let passive-aggressive comments sneak in. Speak now, or forever hold... a grudge.
When was the last time you and your fiancé(e) had a date night that didn’t involve vendor spreadsheets or centerpiece debates? Schedule time together that’s just about you — no planning talk allowed. Same goes for your bridal crew: grab drinks, go for a walk, or have a group movie night. Reminding each other that there’s a world beyond the wedding bubble helps everyone stay grounded and connected.
Repeat after us again: You do not have to do it all. Seriously. Your bridal party, family, and even hired professionals are there for a reason. Trust them. Create clear task lists and hand off things you don’t need to micromanage. Want someone to assemble welcome bags or organize the playlist? Ask. Need help fielding RSVPs or wrangling out-of-town guests? Delegate. Your mental health will thank you — and so will your soon-to-be spouse.
This one’s hard but important: you can’t make everyone happy. There will always be opinions, unsolicited advice, and the occasional family drama. But this day is about celebrating your love story — not managing everyone else’s expectations. Be gracious, but don’t bend so far that you lose sight of what matters to you. Boundaries are beautiful, just like you’ll be in that dress.
Planning a wedding can feel like a full-time job, but your body and brain still need TLC. Prioritize sleep, stay hydrated, eat actual meals (yes, even during seating chart marathons), and find ways to move your body — yoga, dancing, or rage-cleaning your inbox count. If you’re feeling especially overwhelmed, consider talking to a therapist or counselor. Stress is normal, but you don’t have to carry it all alone.
Some moments will be hilarious. Some will be emotional. Let them all come. Laugh with your friends when the ring bearer chucks petals like confetti. Cry with your partner when the officiant mispronounces your names. You’re allowed to feel the full spectrum — it’s part of the magic. Just keep tissues nearby (and maybe a mini bottle of bubbly).
In the end, your wedding is a celebration of love — not a test to pass or a performance to perfect. Take deep breaths, lean on your people, and remember that the best part of this whole wild ride isn’t the flawless ceremony or the Pinterest-worthy details — it’s the commitment you’re making and the people who are cheering you on.
So go ahead, plan the heck out of your big day. Just don’t forget to enjoy the ride — and maybe pack a snack.

Weddings are full of excitement, but they can also rush by in a blur — sometimes the best gift you can give yourself (and your partner) is a reason to slow down. Boudoir photos have become a favorite way to surprise the groom, but why not elevate the idea by weaving in bridal details, like your veil, to create something that feels both chic and deeply personal? The beauty of this kind of gift is its flexibility — it doesn’t have to happen before the big day. Think anniversary surprise, a post-wedding pick-me-up, or simply another chance to slip back into the pieces you chose with such care.
Recently, Grace gave the idea her own spin with a sunrise shoot on the Gulf. With the first light spilling across the sand and her husband looking on, the atmosphere was quiet, romantic, and stylish — like something straight out of Vogue. It’s proof that boudoir can be just as timeless as it is intimate, a keepsake to treasure long after the wedding whirlwind.
