There’s a moment every year when the air finally shifts — cooler, crisper, just right — and suddenly, it’s time. Time to pull out the warm blankets, dust off those unfinished crochet projects (I see you, half-done blanket from last December) , slip into fuzzy slippers, and get a simmer pot bubbling on the stove. For me, that’s when the holiday season truly begins.
This year’s Home & Holiday issue is all about embracing that feeling — the joy of making your space feel warm, inviting, and undeniably yours, whether it’s through decorating, cooking, or just enjoying the season.
When it comes to decorating, I’m a keep-things-simple kind of girl. Give me fresh greenery, a few strands of fairy lights, and I’m happy. It’s amazing how much magic you can create with just a little nature and a lot of twinkle. And if you’re looking for inspiration that goes beyond the basics, you’ll love our article on Five-Minute Festive Touches (pg 37) that won’t eat up your weekend, plus our Scents of the Season (pg 32) tips — because let’s be honest, a home that smells like cinnamon, clove, and apple slices just feels like the holidays. (Pro tip: simmer pots are my secret weapon, and we give you plenty of ideas to make your own.)
We’re also sharing the Taylor family home in this issue, professionally decorated by Joy Adams with festive additions for the season. You see a glimpse of holiday, but also Joy’s original vision for the home, with every detail perfectly suited to the Taylors.
And because making life easier goes on everyone’s list for the holidays, we’re thrilled to highlight Bashes & Bubbly’s Grocery Concierge Service (pg 40) — a total game-changer for anyone who wants to spend less time running errands and more time actually enjoying the season. Whether you’re an Emerald Coast local property manager expecting back-to-back bookings, or hosting guests for the holidays and just want to skip the grocery store chaos, this service is available for our readers and worth checking out.

Of course, we couldn’t close out the year without celebrating Therese Ruiz Ritchie (pg 13) , who reflects on her Woman of the Year win at the beginning of this year. Like all of our Women of the Year, Therese is a true inspiration, and her story is one you won’t want to miss.
As we close out another year, I’m filled with gratitude — for this magazine, for this community, and for the privilege of celebrating the incredible women who make the Gulf Coast so special. However you celebrate this season, I hope this issue helps you create a home, and a holiday, that feels just right … with warmth, joy, and maybe a cookie or two. Here’s to a cozy, festive, and absolutely wonderful end to the year.
At Scarlett , we love bringing you the latest in women’s fashion, beauty, home decor, lifestyle, and health. Thank you all so much for the support as we finish up our fifth year of Scarlett. Enjoy this issue and connect with us on social media on Facebook: Scarlett Magazine and Instagram: @scarlett.magazine. Because frankly, we know you give a damn.

For the past year, erese Ruiz Ritchie has carried the title of Woman of the Year with the same warmth, grace, and humility that earned her the honor in the rst place. Since that unforgettable night, she’s embraced every moment as an opportunity to give back, connect with her community, and inspire others to “be the light.” In this special feature, we catch up with erese to hear what she's been up to, how it’s shaped her outlook, and strengthened her purpose.

For Therese Ruiz Ritchie, life has always been a blend of faith, family, and purpose. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Justo and Lourdes Ruiz, she grew up in a Navy household where service and resilience were the cornerstones of daily life. After several moves as part of the military journey, the family settled in Pensacola, Florida, where Therese would grow up, graduate from Pensacola High School, and eventually return decades later to plant new roots.
Therese’s 35-year nursing career has taken her through nearly every corner of the healthcare world — labor and delivery, cardiology, ambulatory surgery, and even legal nurse consulting. Along the way, she discovered her passion for leadership, earning both a Bachelor of Science
in Nursing and a Master of Science in Management. Today, she serves as Regional RN Resource Manager for the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, training community health workers to help underserved patients access care. For Therese, that mission — providing cutting-edge medicine regardless of a patient’s ability to pay — is a reflection of her lifelong belief that everyone deserves compassion and dignity.
That same belief carried her to one of her most humbling moments: being named the 2025 Woman of the Year. “It honestly felt surreal,” she recalls. “The event was magical — filled with positivity, laughter, and encouragement. There were so many women uplifting women.” Surrounded by her husband, daughter, and friends, she says it took a moment

“A friend once told me, ‘Don’t block the blessings,’ and I think of that often.“

to truly sink in. “I just remember feeling deeply grateful — not just for the recognition, but for what it represents.”
Being chosen by her peers made the award even more meaningful. “It’s deeply humbling and heartwarming,” she says. “To be recognized by people I deeply admire affirms that the work I do truly matters.” She often reflects on a favorite quote from Saint Thérèse of Lisieux: “Do small things with great love.” To Therese, that sentiment mirrors both her personal mission and the spirit of the award, women empowering women through love and action.
In the year since, the honor hasn’t changed who she is, but it has amplified her purpose. “Winning deepened my sense of advocacy,” she says. “It opened more doors for collaboration and conversation about how we can better serve our neighbors.” From her grandchildren’s excitement to the support of her colleagues across states, the recognition has been shared joy. “A friend once told me, ‘Don’t block the blessings,’ and I think of that often,” she adds.
Therese’s heart for service began long before her professional achievements. From youth groups and cultural clubs to her years raising four children, giving back has always been second nature. Her faith teaches that “it is in

giving that we receive,” and she’s lived that out through countless efforts — supporting Health & Hope Clinic, contributing to Impact 100, serving on the board of Arc Gateway, and joining the Krewe of SWAT to help local charities. Recently, she participated in Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build, calling it “an honor to help build a house that becomes a home.”
She also helped lead the Scarlett/ WOTY team in donating books at the Juneteenth celebration hosted by the Watson Family Foundation in Pensacola, Florida. “Reading is the building block to all learning,” she says. “The smiles on the children’s faces were priceless — a beautiful way to celebrate literacy, culture, and community.”
Through it all, Therese’s leadership mantra, “get to it and do it,” has guided her approach to life. She believes in turning problems into opportunities and helping others unlock their own potential. Former colleagues still reach out to share their successes, and she takes great pride in having played a small role in their journeys.
When asked what advice she’d share with other women, her response is simple but powerful: “Be kind. You never know the impact your words or actions might have on someone who needs them most. Lead with love, and trust that the light you share will find its way back to you.”
For Therese, that light shines brightest when it’s shared. “This recognition is not mine alone,” she says with characteristic humility. “It belongs to everyone who believes in compassion, connection, and purpose. My wish is that we choose to be the light for others and see the light in others.”

As an interior designer, one of my favorite places to bring to life was 710 Harbor Blvd., where Georgian elegance meets Gulf Coast charm in a home designed for family, fishing, and endless entertaining. Living on the Emerald Coast is a dream come true for the Taylor family, and one look at their stunning Destin residence makes it easy to see why. This isn't just a home; it's a love letter to coastal living, a celebration of family, and a testament to what happens when thoughtful design meets a passion for the water.
The magic begins the moment you step onto the balcony. Stretching before you are sweeping vistas of both the Gulf and the harbor, a rare double feature that makes this property truly exceptional. It's the kind of view that stops conversations mid-sentence and makes morning coffee taste just a little bit better. And for the Taylors, a family who lives and breathes the boating lifestyle, having ample room for their large boat right at their doorstep? That's not just convenient — it's pure heaven.
What truly sets this home apart is its delightfully personal approach to design. Throughout the rooms, whimsical wallpaper patterns bring personality to every corner. Frolicking fish dance across walls in tribute to the family's love of fishing, while majestic elephants make an appearance — each one representing the college mascot of one of the three Taylor children. It's these thoughtful touches that transform a house into a home, creating conversation starters and sweet reminders of family milestones at every turn.
The art collection continues this narrative thread, with pieces that nod to the family's passion for fishing and the special places they've explored together. Every painting, every print has a story, and it makes the space truly luxurious.

Now let's talk about the master bath … this is where glamour goes coastal. The stunning blue and white wallpaper was chosen because it evokes waves and sea foam, along with a show-stopping chandelier that adds just the right amount of sparkle, and a floating tub that practically begs for a glass of champagne and a good book. It's the kind of space where "getting ready" becomes "me time."
The second floor boasts another showstopper bathroom featuring a large painting of a family member rendered in the home's signature blue and white palette. A golden chandelier adds warmth and glamour, while a statement mirror makes the space feel even more expansive. Every detail has been considered, every choice intentional.

As a designer, my philosophy is simple: make every space beautiful and unique. No cookie-cutter solutions here. The Taylors are avid boaters who love nothing more than gathering family and friends, and their home needed to reflect that reality.
The layout is brilliantly suited to their lifestyle, with multiple floors and the main gathering area positioned on
the second floor — perfect for taking advantage of those jaw-dropping views during dinner parties and family get-togethers. The master bedroom and bath share this prime real estate that offers views of stunning vistas that make every morning feel like a vacation, creating an everyday retreat that never gets old.

The property sits on an impressive half-acre and is one of four units in a thoughtfully planned development. Kevin Taylor, who developed these homes, designed them with the boating community in mind — complete with double garages and abundant parking spaces. Because when you're hosting a crowd of sailors and anglers, parking matters!

Kathi Taylor brought her own vision to their unit, infusing it with touches of Georgian style that elevate the coastal aesthetic. The result is a sophisticated blend that feels both timeless and fresh, classical ideas meeting contemporary flair in the most delightful way.
From carefully selected rugs that anchor each room to paintings that add personality and color, every element works together to create a cohesive yet collected feel. It's never stuffy, never precious, just beautifully curated spaces that make you want to kick off your shoes and maybe pour another glass of wine.
Working with clients like the Taylors is a designer's dream. They knew what they loved, trusted the process, and were willing to take risks that paid off beautifully. The result? A home that's perfect for lazy Sunday mornings with coffee, lively dinner parties with friends, and all those in-between moments that make life on the coast so special.
It was truly a pleasure creating this wonderful place for the Taylor family … a space where memories are made, stories are shared, and the view never, ever disappoints.

Not all heroes wear capes, some wear fabulous heels. Being a woman can be a difficult job. We are often expected to be everything to everyone. Work hard to reach your full potential in your career field, but also raise a family inbetween. Make sure you meet all of your deadlines at work but also bake a casserole and join a book club. While it may seem overwhelming to “do it all,” there are a few local women who seem to have it figured out. And, for that, they are my heroes; or should I say heroines. Malala Fund said, “I want every girl to know that her voice can change the world.” This group of women are bravely climbing to the top and making a difference in the lives of those around them.
In these articles, we are raising a glass to some amazing women along the Gulf Coast. As successful businesswomen and entrepreneurs, these women are the examples that we need for our youth. Some are mothers, some are bosses, some are adventurous, some lead quietly from the sidelines, but there is one thing they all have in common — they are heroines. The leaders, the path blazers, the extraordinary women that always go a step above the rest. A heroine is defined as a woman admired or idealized for her courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.
These fearless women are that and more.

Melissa Watson

MelissaWatson’s story is one of resilience, reinvention, and wholehearted connection — to her work, her community, and the people she loves. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Melissa now calls Destin, Florida, home where she serves as the Executive Director of Marketing at Sandestin Investments. Her professional success, however, is just one part of what defines her. Deeply rooted in the Emerald Coast community, Melissa serves on the Boards of the Emerald Coast Foundation and the Emerald Coast Autism Center, and has previously lent her leadership to organizations like the Okaloosa County TDC, the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation,
and the Fort Walton Beach Tourism Committee. Her dedication to giving back is not a side note, it’s a cornerstone of who she is.
When asked how she became the woman she is today, Melissa is refreshingly honest. “Lots of hard work, grit, and a good bit of failing forward,” she says. Each challenge has been a teacher, every setback an opportunity to grow. Along the way, mentors recognized her potential even when she didn’t see it in herself, offering encouragement that fueled her confidence and helped her step into bigger roles with courage and grace. That spirit of learning and perseverance became the through line of her career, and her life.
Her journey into leadership and community involvement took shape when she was nominated for Leadership Walton, a program that she describes as life-changing. “Graduating from that program opened my eyes to what real community leadership looks like,” she says. It was there that she discovered the true power of connection, service, and belonging to something greater than oneself — a lesson that continues to guide her work and her impact today. When it comes to role models, Melissa doesn’t have to look far. Her mother and sister have been her biggest influences, shaping her understanding of what strength and compassion look like in action. After her parents’ divorce, Melissa and
her sister lived primarily with their mom, while her dad remained an active part of their lives. From her mother, Melissa learned that love and presence often speak louder than words. “My mom didn’t always have to say, ‘You’ve got this,’” Melissa recalls. “Her steady faith in us and the way she showed up every single day made it clear she always believed we could.” Her sister, who works with children with autism, carries that same spirit into her own life and career, balancing purpose, and family with quiet determination. Together, they’ve shown Melissa that leading with love is one of the most powerful ways to make a difference.
Melissa’s advice to her younger self is something every woman can relate to: stop stressing about having it all figured out. “Keep working hard, stay curious, and trust that your path will unfold,” she says. Life, she’s learned, is shaped as much by its valleys as its peaks, and both are essential to becoming who you’re meant to be.
Of all her achievements, Melissa is most proud of the role she’s played as a stepmother. “They were older when I came into their lives, which can make it tricky to figure out where you fit in,” she says. But through patience, consistency, and love, she’s built meaningful bonds that continue to deepen. Watching her stepson enlist in the Army and pursue dual citizenship has been one of her proudest moments — a reflection of his courage and her influence.
Her definition of success has evolved over time. “I used to think success followed one clear path: go to college, land an entry-level job, work your way up, and eventually get rich — ha! But really, success is about working hard, showing up, and being engaged,” she says. “It’s about growth, adaptability, and embracing the unexpected turns.”
That same philosophy guides how she maintains balance. In the fast-paced world of marketing, Melissa prioritizes moments of pause. From her daily skincare ritual to intentionally scheduled spa days and Wi-Fi-free travel adventures, she carves out time to recharge and reset. “Stepping away often gives me the clarity I need,” she says.
Looking ahead, Melissa is excited about the continued growth at Sandestin, particularly in development and real estate, fields she’s eager to explore further. “It feels like a new chapter,” she says, “and I can’t wait to see how my role continues to evolve as we expand.”
Through it all, Melissa hopes her leadership reminds others that it’s okay not to have all the answers, that mistakes are part of progress, and that hard work always matters. Because in the end, success isn’t about perfection … it’s about perseverance, purpose, and the heart you bring to everything you do.

Monica Fullerton
Founder and CEO, Spouse-ly 30A, FL

FromMedina, Ohio, to the sunsoaked shores of Florida’s 30A, Monica Fullerton has built her life — and her legacy — around resilience, community, and purpose. As the Founder and CEO of Spousely, a mission-driven marketplace supporting military- and first responder-owned businesses, Monica has turned a vision born from her own experiences as a military spouse into a movement that uplifts others. What began as a simple idea to connect and empower overlooked entrepreneurs has grown into a thriving ecosystem of makers, dreamers, and doers who share one thing in common: a deep
www.ScarlettMag.com
dedication to service and perseverance.
Monica’s path has been anything but conventional. Constantly starting over in new places as a military spouse and balancing the beautiful chaos of raising twins while building a business from the ground up has taught her more about grit than any textbook ever could. “I’ve learned that resilience and passion can create real impact,” she says. “Every challenge has shaped me into who I am today.” That mix of determination and purpose is exactly what defines her approach to leadership … and to life.
Her inspiration for Spouse-ly came from seeing firsthand the untapped
potential within the military and first responder community. “I was surrounded by so many talented entrepreneurs with powerful stories, and I knew they deserved visibility,” she explains. That spark became her mission: to build a platform that not only sells products but also amplifies voices, educates others, and fosters genuine connection. Through Spousely, she’s creating pathways for small business owners to thrive in a world that often overlooks their stories.
When asked who shaped her drive and ambition, Monica credits her mom and grammy — two women who instilled in her the belief that
anything is possible. “They showed me that opportunity is always on the other side of the unknown,” she says. That lesson in courage continues to guide her today, both as an entrepreneur and a mother. It’s the same message she’d share with her 20-year-old self: “You don’t have to have it all figured out. Stay curious, take risks, and trust that your path will come together in ways you can’t yet imagine.”
Monica’s proudest accomplishment isn’t just professional — it’s deeply personal. She built Spouse-ly without outside investors while raising twins, a feat that demanded equal parts heart and hustle. “Both journeys have tested and shaped me,” she says, “and I’m proud of the impact they’ve had on others.” And while she’s achieved recognition and success, her definition of success has evolved over time. “It used to be about titles and milestones,” she admits. “Now it’s about freedom, impact, and balance — being able to do what I love, create opportunities for others, and still be present for my family.”
That sense of balance comes from grounding herself in what matters most: family, the beach, and small daily rituals that restore her energy. “I’ve learned to protect my time and energy,” she says. “You can’t pour into others unless you fill your own cup first.”
Monica’s commitment to giving back runs through everything she does. Through Spouse-ly, she’s built more

than a business — it’s a platform that educates, empowers, and connects. Looking ahead, she plans to expand those efforts through mentorship programs, retreats, accelerators, and new initiatives designed to help others build sustainable, purpose-driven businesses. Her leadership philosophy is simple yet powerful: perseverance beats perfection. “You don’t need all the answers to start,” she says. “You just need the courage to begin and the willingness to keep showing up.”
As for what’s next, Monica’s vision is as expansive as her heart. She’s scaling Spouse-ly to reach new heights, launching an online course and “business bestie” consulting program, taking on new Board positions, hosting women’s retreats, and continuing to grow her family’s real estate investments. No matter how busy life gets, her focus remains on creating spaces that connect people to opportunities that align with their passions and purpose.
For Monica, success will always circle back to the community — the most powerful currency of all.
“Everything I’ve built has been through collaboration, passion, and belief in what’s possible,” she says. And in true Monica fashion, she’s not just building a business … she’s building a legacy of connection, empowerment, and lasting impact.

Before the first string of lights is hung or the stockings are unpacked, it’s often the scent of the holidays that makes everything feel real. The cozy blend of pine, cinnamon, clove, and citrus can instantly transport you to memories of home, warmth, and holidays. This season, filling your space with festive aromas doesn’t have to mean splurging on expensive candles — there are plenty of simple, natural ways to bring those comforting scents to life.
Start with the classic simmer pot, the easiest DIY fragrance trick of all. Combine a small pot of water with slices of an orange, a handful of cranberries, a few cinnamon sticks, and whole cloves. Let it simmer on low heat, and within minutes your home will smell like a holiday market. You can also experiment with combinations — try apple peels with star anise, or rosemary with lemon for a fresher twist. Keep the pot topped off with water, and enjoy hours of scent without a single plug-in or spray.
If you prefer a cleaner look, try stovetop or diffuser oils. A few drops of pine, vanilla, or peppermint essential oil can transform your space instantly. For a layered scent, blend a few oils together: orange and clove for warmth, cedar and cinnamon for that just-cut tree feeling, or peppermint and vanilla for something sweet and nostalgic.
For an extra festive touch, create your own scented décor. Dry orange slices and hang them with twine as garland, tuck cinnamon sticks into wreaths, or tie small bundles of rosemary and eucalyptus onto gifts or napkin rings. These little details not only look charming but also release a gentle aroma that lingers throughout your home.
And of course, nothing beats the smell of baking goodies — freshly baked cookies, spiced bread, or a pie cooling on the counter. Even if your oven stays off, lighting a candle with notes of brown sugar or vanilla can evoke the same cozy comfort.
Whether you go all-in with homemade simmer pots or keep it simple with a single candle, the scent of the season has a way of grounding us in the present moment while stirring memories of holidays past. It’s the invisible finishing touch that makes your home feel warm, welcoming, and wonderfully festive.

For many, coffee isn’t just a beverage; it’s a ritual, a pick-me-up, and for some, a bit of magic in a cup. With the world of coffee expanding beyond the classic drip and espresso, there’s never been a better time to experiment with fun, delicious coffee-based drinks. The beauty of making coffee-based drinks at home is that you can customize them to your taste. Try using different milk alternatives, sweeteners, or even add-ins like lavender, mint, or orange zest. You can control the sweetness, play with flavors, and find the perfect balance for your palate. Here are three unique coffee drinks to try at home for any time of day.
If you’re a fan of chai or spiced lattes, this drink will quickly become your go-to. The addition of honey and spices give this coffee an earthy warmth, perfect for cooler mornings or cozy afternoons. Think of it as a grown-up, sophisticated take on a frozen hot chocolate.
1 cup brewed cofee
1 tablespoon honey
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
⅛ teaspoon nutmeg
⅛ teaspoon cardamom
¼ cup steamed milk (optional)
1. Brew a cup of coffee as you normally would.
2. While the coffee is still hot, stir in the honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cardamom until fully blended.
3. Add a splash of steamed milk if you prefer a creamier drink.
4. Top with a sprinkle of cinnamon for a cozy finishing touch.

For those days when you’re craving something a little more indulgent, this mocha coconut frappe is a dream come true. This drink is dessert in a cup, but with a sophisticated twist. The coconut milk adds a hint of tropical flavor that complements the rich cocoa and coffee. It’s a wonderful choice for an afternoon treat or even as a post-dinner indulgence.
1 cup cold brew or cooled brewed cofee
1 cup coconut milk
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1-2 tablespoons sugar or sweetener of choice
Ice cubes
Whipped cream (optional) Shaved coconut or chocolate shavings for garnish
1. In a blender, combine the coffee, coconut milk, cocoa powder, sugar, and a handful of ice cubes.
2. Blend until smooth and frothy.
3. Pour into a glass and, if you’re feeling extra, top with whipped cream and sprinkle with coconut flakes or chocolate shavings.

The holidays are a whirlwind of shopping lists, wrapping paper, and last-minute baking, but creating a festive home doesn’t have to be a major production. In fact, sometimes the simplest touches make the biggest impact. With just five minutes and a little creativity, you can transform your space into a cozy, holiday-ready haven.

One of the quickest ways to refresh a room is with textiles. Think throw pillows, blankets, and table runners. Swap out your everyday pillows for ones in rich reds, sparkling golds, or cozy plaids. Drape a soft, neutral throw over a sofa or armchair for instant warmth and comfort. A festive table runner can take a plain dining table from every day to holiday-ready in seconds, and the bonus? It’s easy to fold away once the season is over.

Nature provides some of the easiest and most elegant holiday décor. Grab a few sprigs of evergreen, holly, or pinecones from your yard — or your local florist — and tuck them into vases, jars, or even around candles on a coffee table. Citrus adds a pop of color and scent: slice oranges or lemons and scatter them in a bowl, or float them in water with a few cloves for an instant centerpiece. Even a small vase of greenery can make a mantel, shelf, or entryway feel instantly festive.
Lighting can completely change the vibe of a room. Swap bright overhead lights for softer alternatives: lamps, string lights, or candles. Twinkling fairy lights draped along a bookshelf, window, or mantle add magic with minimal effort. LED candles are a great option for safety and convenience, and they can be
arranged in clusters for a chic look. In just a few minutes, you’ll create a warm, inviting glow that makes your home feel holiday-ready.
Small, thoughtful accents go a long way. Scatter a few ornaments in decorative bowls or place them atop books on a coffee table. Hang a festive wreath on an interior door or above a mirror for an immediate holiday touch. Switch out everyday kitchen towels for ones with a holiday pattern, or replace your regular doormat with a seasonal option. These tiny swaps are quick, affordable, and can be removed just as easily after the season.

A home that smells like the holidays feels instantly welcoming. Simmer a small pot of water with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange peel on the stove, or light a holiday-scented candle in the living room. Even a few drops of essential oils in a diffuser — pine, clove, or vanilla — can make a space feel festive and cozy in minutes. Bonus: scent triggers nostalgia, instantly transporting guests into the holiday spirit.
Curate a tiny vignette on a console table, bookshelf, or side table. Combine items like a small evergreen branch, a few ornaments, a candle, and a festive figurine for a balanced, charming display. Changing the height and texture of items keeps it visually interesting, and arranging them doesn’t take more than five minutes. Even the simplest setup feels intentional and celebratory.
The holidays don’t have to be stressful to feel special. With a few simple swaps and a little creativity, you can add instant warmth, color, and sparkle to your home without breaking a sweat, or the bank. The best part? These five-minute touches can be mixed, matched, and moved around to suit your space, leaving your home looking polished and festive all season long.
So grab a pillow, a sprig of greenery, and a string of lights, and let your home shine with holiday cheer … even if it only takes five minutes.

There’s a moment everyone looks forward to when they arrive on the Gulf Coast — the salty air, warm temperatures, and the feeling of finally being off the clock. But too often, that first day of vacation starts with a dreadful trip to the grocery store. Between navigating unfamiliar aisles, waiting in long lines, or trying to find the pickup area and then having to lug all those groceries up multiple flights of stairs to your vacation rental, it hardly feels like paradise.
That’s where Bashes & Bubbly’s Grocery Concierge Service steps in, transforming arrival day from stressful to seamless.
Offered along the Emerald Coast from Pensacola Beach to 30A, this personalized service handles every detail of your grocery shopping before you even unpack your bags. Guests simply pay a deposit to book the service, submit their grocery order in advance, and the Bashes & Bubbly team takes care of the rest.
The result? You walk into your home to find a fully stocked kitchen, cold drinks neatly lined in rows in the fridge, snacks ready for the kids, and a fully stocked bar awaiting sunset on the balcony. Each delivery is handled with care, attention to detail, and a signature touch of white-glove service that makes the guests feel instantly at home.
Founder Savannah Tims, who’s known for her luxe and detail-oriented event design brand, created the Grocery Concierge Service at the same time she started decorating vacation rentals along the Emerald Coast, and it’s quickly become a staple among her clientele.
“I wanted guests to feel comfortable and relaxed from the very first moment they walked through the door.” Savannah explains. “Guests shouldn’t have to spend their first day shopping for the long list of drinks, lunch foods, and snacks — they should be lounging by the pool, sipping their favorite drink. This kind of service is something I look for when I travel too. It’s not always available in other destinations, which makes us especially lucky to have it here along our coast. Having everything ready when I arrive sets the tone for the entire vacation.”
For locals hosting guests or property managers preparing for back-to-back bookings, the Grocery Concierge Service also offers a time-saving solution that ensures

every arrival feels welcomed and important. Pair it with one of Bashes & Bubbly’s décor setups, from bachelorette parties to romantic suite decor, and the entire experience feels entirely turnkey.
So whether you’re arriving for a week in Pensacola Beach or welcoming family into your coastal retreat, skip the stress of shopping and let Bashes & Bubbly handle the heavy lifting. On vacation, every moment matters and yours should start with sunshine, not shopping carts!

When the temperatures drop and the cozy season officially begins, nothing feels quite as comforting as wrapping yourself in wool. From snuggly sweaters to soft blankets and stylish coats, wool is a timeless favorite that’s as functional as it is fashionable. Naturally warm, breathable, and surprisingly versatile, this fabric is the definition of winter luxury. But beyond its cozy reputation, wool has a fascinating backstory and some simple care tips that can help it last a lifetime.
Wool begins its journey on the backs of animals — most commonly sheep, though alpacas, llamas, goats, and even rabbits also produce their own luxurious versions. Each type of wool has its own texture and personality: merino wool is prized for its softness, cashmere (from goats) for its incredible lightness, and mohair (also from goats) for its silky sheen.
The process starts with shearing, typically done once a year to harvest the fleece. Contrary to popular belief, this process is harmless and even necessary for the animal’s comfort. After shearing, the fleece is sorted and cleaned to remove natural oils, lanolin, and debris. Then it’s carded (combed) to straighten the fibers before being spun into yarn. Finally, the yarn is woven or knitted into fabric, ready to be transformed into your favorite winter pieces.
Wool’s structure is what makes it so unique. Each fiber has a natural crimp that traps air, creating insulation that keeps you warm when it’s cold — but also cool when it’s hot. That’s right, wool is a yearround wonder. It’s also moisture-wicking, odorresistant, and even naturally flame-retardant, making it as practical as it is pretty.
It’s definitely one of those rare fabrics that looks just as good in your wardrobe as it does draped around your living room. Its versatility is part of its charm.
In fashion: Wool has long been a cold-weather staple for clothing, thanks to its warmth and breathability. Think tailored coats, cozy scarves, chunky sweaters, and even fine wool trousers. Merino wool is soft enough to wear against the skin, making it ideal for layering pieces, while heavier wools like tweed and felted wool bring structure and durability to outerwear.

In home décor: When it comes to holiday comfort, few fabrics capture the season’s spirit quite like wool. A wool throw blanket adds instant warmth to any space, while wool rugs provide softness and insulation underfoot. Decorative pillows, upholstered chairs, and even wool felt ornaments are perfect for creating a cozy, inviting home during the holidays.
Beyond fashion and décor: Wool’s resilience makes it perfect for more than just looking good. It’s used in everything from soundproofing materials to insulation for eco-friendly homes. It’s truly a fabric that pulls double duty, luxurious and practical all at once. Wool might seem delicate, but it’s surprisingly easy to care for once you know the basics. Because it’s naturally dirt- and odor-resistant, it doesn’t need to be washed as often as other fabrics. In fact, overwashing is one of the biggest mistakes people make with wool. Here’s how to keep your wool looking and feeling their best:
Washing: Always check the label, but most wool garments prefer hand washing in cold water with a gentle, wool-safe detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting — just gently press out the excess water. Some modern wools, especially merino blends, can handle the delicate cycle in your washing machine, but when in doubt, hand wash!
Drying: Wool and heat don’t mix. Skip the dryer and lay your item flat on a towel to air dry, reshaping it as it dries to maintain its original fit. Hanging wet wool can cause it to stretch.
Ironing & Steaming: Wool fibers bounce back naturally, so most wrinkles will release on their own. If you need to touch it up, use a steamer or a warm iron with a pressing cloth to protect the fibers.
Storage: Store wool garments clean and dry, folded rather than hung, to prevent stretching. Add a sachet of lavender or cedar blocks to keep moths at bay — an old-fashioned trick that still works wonders.
Wool isn’t just a fabric, it’s a feeling. It’s the comforting weight of a favorite sweater, the coziness of a blanket on a chilly evening, and the timeless texture that instantly says “home for the holidays.” With its natural warmth, durability, and elegance, wool continues to prove that classic never goes out of style. So this season, whether you’re curling up by the fire or stepping out into the winter chill, do it wrapped in wool — you’ll be warm, stylish, and perfectly at home.

Hello! I’m Joanna Davis, resident Foodie expert — a lifelong lover of delicious bites and local gems. Born into a Filipino family where food was a cherished love language, meals were more than just nourishment — they were connection, celebration, and culture. From becoming a Yelp Elite to launching a successful foodfocused Instagram page, I now have over 50,000 followers and have judged food festivals, dined across the Emerald Coast, and supported countless small businesses from Pensacola to Destin.

There’s something undeniably magical about this time of year — especially if you’re a foodie! It’s the season that fires up our happy endorphins and stirs our memories, reminding us that food isn’t just nourishment, it’s love, tradition, and connection served on a plate.
For me, the holidays always bring a wave of nostalgia — the many years I was blessed to enjoy my Filipino mother’s feasts. She prepared every dish with care, and the joy it brought to her heart was written all over her face as she watched us take our first bites. Food has always been the universal love language — at least in our family.
As we roll into the holidays, we start dreaming (or stressing) over the dishes that define our celebrations. To stuff or not to stuff? Turkey or ham? To brine or to fry? Potato salad or mashed potatoes? The options are endless, and as nerve-racking as it can be, that overthinking is part of what builds the excitement of holiday feasting. We stress over timing, perfection, and presentation, but somehow, when we see the faces of those we love light up with appreciation, every bit of effort melts into joy. Because these are the moments that make it all worth it.
With social media fueling the foodie scene, finding that trending viral recipe has become the latest holiday craze. In 2024, overnight TikTok sensation Tini (@ tinekeyounger) gave so many of us the confidence to wow our family and friends with a mac ‘n cheese we could (almost) claim as our own. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have become a treasure trove for visually inspiring dishes giving even the most hesitant cooks a step-by-step guide to culinary glory.
And if you’d rather leave the cooking to someone else this year, the Emerald Coast is brimming with ways to celebrate the season from heartwarming community feasts to charity events that serve up both good food and goodwill.
Start with Bitterroot, where the holiday spirit practically sparkles. The entire restaurant transforms into a Christmas wonderland from twinkling lights to garlands draped over every corner. It’s the perfect backdrop for festive dining with friends, handcrafted cocktails, and a touch of cozy elegance that feels like a Hallmark movie come to life.
Then there’s a local tradition that embodies the true meaning of Thanksgiving: the Harbor Docks’ Annual
Thanksgiving Feast. Each year, they open their doors and hearts, offering a free holiday meal to anyone in the community. Proceeds and donations benefit Habitat for Humanity and Destin Harvest Food Rescue, ensuring that the spirit of giving continues long after the plates are cleared.
And for those who love a little sparkle with their service, mark your calendars for Café Thirty-A’s Charity Ball on December 6. It’s an elegant evening of indulgence that benefits Caring and Sharing of South Walton, bringing together delicious food, good company, and a chance to make a real difference.
This holiday season, may your table overflow with laughter, gratitude, and flavor. Whether you’re cooking from scratch or celebrating over someone else’s culinary masterpiece, take a moment to slow down and savor it all — the scents, the sounds, and the shared love that make this season truly special.

Sweet, salty, and crunchy — few treats hit all three notes like salted caramel pretzel bark. This modern favorite blends two classic flavors: buttery caramel and crisp pretzels. Caramel has delighted taste buds since the early 19th century, while pretzels, with their iconic twist, have roots in European monasteries as symbols of good luck. The bark version likely emerged in recent decades as snackable, shareable desserts became popular, turning these familiar flavors into a simple yet elegant treat. With a drizzle of caramel over chocolate and a sprinkle of sea salt, it’s perfect for a holiday platter, a casual get-together, or a latenight craving. Best of all, it’s no-bake and easy enough for anyone to make … and impossible to resist!

2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup caramel bits or soft caramel, chopped 1 cup crushed pretzels
Sea salt, for sprinkling
Optional: peanuts, pecans, or walnuts
1. Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
2. Spread melted chocolate evenly on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle crushed pretzels on top. If you decide to use nuts as well, add them during this step.
3. Drizzle melted caramel over chocolate and pretzels. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt.
4. Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes until set. Break into pieces and enjoy!

There’s nothing quite like curling up with a good book in a cozy space designed just for you. Whether you have an entire room to spare or just a small corner, the perfect reading nook is all about comfort, ambiance, and personal style. A great reading nook should be comfortable, well-lit, quiet, and reflect your unique taste. Finding the right spot is the first step. It doesn’t require much space; a quiet corner, an unused alcove, a bay window, or even a space under the stairs can all serve as the perfect retreat. If you have a larger area, you can create a dedicated reading room with bookshelves and cozy decor.

Seating is key to creating an inviting reading nook. A plush armchair with a matching ottoman is a timeless choice, while a floor cushion, bean bag, or hammock chair offers a more relaxed feel. If you prefer a sleek, modern look, an ergonomic chair with a throw blanket works beautifully. Budget-conscious readers can repurpose an old chair with a soft cushion or stack pillows in a cozy corner. Lighting is another essential component, as good lighting prevents eye strain and sets the mood. Natural light from a nearby window is ideal, but adding a stylish lamp ensures you can read comfortably at any time. Floor or table lamps with warm bulbs provide a soft glow, while string lights or lanterns add a whimsical touch. If space is limited, wall-mounted sconces offer a functional and stylish solution.
Cozy elements can take your reading nook to the next level. Soft textiles such as throw blankets, plush pillows, and a warm rug create a welcoming atmosphere. A small side table or shelf is useful for holding a cup of tea or a stack of books, while candles or a diffuser with scents like lavender or vanilla add to the relaxing ambiance. Personal touches such as artwork, plants, or framed quotes can make the space truly your own. Different lifestyles call for different reading nooks. A busy mom might prefer a quiet spot in a bedroom with easy-to-maintain furniture and a cozy recliner. Minimalists might opt for a sleek armchair, a simple lamp, and a neutral-toned throw to maintain a clutter-free aesthetic. Those who love luxury can incorporate oversized chairs, velvet cushions, a vintage bookshelf, and even a chandelier-style light fixture. For those on a budget, thrift store furniture finds, repurposed cushions, and fairy lights can create a magical space without breaking the bank.
The perfect reading nook doesn’t have to be extravagant or expensive. With a little creativity and some cozy touches, you can craft a sanctuary where books transport you to new worlds. Whether you choose a classic, boho, modern, or budget-friendly approach, what matters most is that your nook is a space where you can relax and escape into the pages of a great story. So grab your favorite book, settle in, and enjoy your personal retreat.
