ARCHITECTURE IS THE EXCITING SEARCH FOR A HOLISTIC AESTHETIC
„Having eyes and ears wide open, curiosity and life itself influence our work and our developments. Architecture in all its forms is a process and very fluid”, says architect Daniel Richter about his office’s work. Every project is individually treated according to the location and its characteristics, like topography, alignment and utilization concept – without any rigid methods. In close exchange with the future owner the architects try out different approaches until the right way is found. “We work in a very informal office atmosphere”, says Daniel Richter about the team of six architects, a carpenter, a secretary and a trainee. “Fundamentally, we have an approach

based on classic crafts and have an affinity to wood. We often work with wooden building materials, but thanks to other projects we are also very familiar with modular steel design and traditional construction systems for houses.” One main focus lies on the planning and realisation of hotels and holiday resorts, as well as administration buildings that the architects not only fulfil in the Harz Mountains, but all over Germany. Above that, Richter Architekten also work in housing and industrial buildings. “I trained as a carpenter,” says Daniel Richter about his professional career and the closeness to traditional crafts. Wood is a renewable and therefore
sustainable resource. And this is also an important aspect for the architects: “We feel a close connection to nature and cultivate dealing responsibly with materials and resources,” Daniel Richter explains. “A sustainable and climate neutral approach creates enormous requirements when it comes to technology and the whole facility management.” Yet, not only the material is significant, the main focus lies on a consistent final concept that combines functionality, spatial efficiency and a strict budget. For Richter Architekten working with enthusiasm while safeguarding the building owner’s interests is one of their core tasks.
