Piacenza, visit to the novitiate, St. John the Baptist From 5 to 7 June 2015, as an itinerant, Sr. Etra Modica, Animator General of Formation visited the novitiate St. John the Baptist, located in Casaliggio Piacenza. Sharing the experience of the novitiate formation with the novice and the Directress, Nov. Loreta and sr. Therese Mushiya, meant to enter the heart of a significant milestone in our congregation. The welcome of the formation community, with sr. Rita Firellini, was full of meaning and experiences. The visit to the novitiate, in an itinerant form, as traveler- traveling together simply because they traveled to Camaiore, the land of our co-founder Blessed Assunta Marchetti, to participate the flower-setting or rather flower decoration (infiorata) dedicated to her. We have seen a number of flower carpets representing and featuring the life of Mother Assunta, an excellent opportunity for a concrete expression of where we were formed and of our roots. Very simply, we shared the life of the novitiate marked by times, from the times of prayer and joyful exchanges of experience. Thanks to all, the greatest sign that remains, we can give ourselves is testimony of having discovered the precious pearl.

Brazil, a moment of celebration for the Blessed Mother Assunta

Among orphans and migrants

Teresa in the district of Pari, where the Scalabrini Centre is located for the promotion of migrants, the CESPROM SAO PAULO. In this community, we have had moments of life sharing, the vocation and mission, for us novices, this was a time of wealth and of great interest to learn and get to know the Sisters who are in this mission and in the community. We have to know the Museum of Emigration, in SĂŁo Paulo, where many immigrants, especially Italians came and then walked in the farms of coffee plantations. At the end of the day, we have known the Casa Madre Assunta at Vila Prudente, where Mother Assunta lived and died. For us novices, this new experience was a moment of grace, where we had the opportunity to know the places of our cofounders, where they gave their lives and lived with love, zeal and radically their consecration to God and mission with the brothers migrants. We finished our pilgrimage to Jundiai with a Mass for the Sisters who celebrated their 25th, 50th and 60th years of consecrated life. We express our gratitude to the Congregation that allowed us to know the roots of our Congregation and offered us the opportunity to live these moments of sharing with the Sisters who live and work in the State of Sao Paulo.

The novitiate community San Carlo, in Potim, Sao Paulo, attended the two consecutive liturgical celebrations in honor of Blessed Mother Assunta Marchetti in the Metropolitan Cathedral of St. Paul, at 1 0 o'clock in the morning and in the evening at the parish of St. Charles, in Vila Prudente. The two celebrations were both presided over by His Excellency, Cardinal Pedro Odilo Scherer. Continuing our pilgrimage in honor of the Blessed Assunta Marchetti, we went to know the places where she lived and worked with her brother, Father Joseph Marchetti. On this journey, we had the opportunity to know the Provincial House of the Province of Our Lady of Aparecida and the monument to Don Pedro, an important figure linked to the independence of Brazil. On the second day of our pilgrimage, we learned about the Museum of Santa Madre Paulina and the Christopher Columbus Orphanage in Ipiranga district, which was the home of the first sisters and of Father Joseph Marchetti. We celebrated a prayer service, we have prepared, near the urn of Mother Assunta and Fr. Joseph Marchetti. We had the opportunity to know the community of Santa

The Concluding Celebration of the Year of the Beatification of M. Assunta Marchetti

Mother Assunta, a migrant thought

Councilors. "The thought of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother is still alive in all of us - said Sister Neusa in her speech of thanks to the bishop of Lucca. Her testimony of life and faith was amazing and gives us strength to face our daily mission".

We remember Mother Assunta Marchetti, following her footsteps and having her with her "migrant-mind" to conclude the celebrations of her first year as Blessed. There are many initiatives that the General Government participated, in Italy and in Europe. On 27 and 28 June 201 5, kicked off a process called "Walking with Mother Assunta" with visits to Piacenza, the cradle of the Congregation, in Lucca and Camaiore, the birthplace of Father Joseph and Mother Assunta Marchetti. In this closing celebration of the year of beatification, a group of young people from Germany, Portugal, Albania, Italy, attended and actively participated in all activities. The celebration of the Eucharist was presided over by the Archbishop of Lucca, Archbishop Italo Castellani. The celebration was attended by sr. Neusa de Fรกtima Mariano, Superior General and the General

ENG/USA

Where we pray for the Mother of Migrants On July 5, 201 5, in the Church of Santa Maria della Luce installed the official portrait of Blessed Assunta Marchetti upon the request of Fr. Luis Hernán Olivos, cs chaplain of the Latin American community. It started at 1 2 o’clock with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by Fr. Luis and concelebrated by several Scalabrinian priests, including Fr. Giovanni Borin, the Regional Superior . In his homily, Fr. Luis made reference to Mother Assunta as the woman who fully lived the Scalabrinian spirituality and testified what she meant for migrants by living as a Mother to the orphans. She gave her entire life for them in Brazil without ever returning to her homeland, Italy. He made emphasis that she still continues to accompany migrants and that we may appeal on her intercession. The Superior General Sr. Neusa de Fátima Mariano on her Thanksgiving address gave a brief history of Mother Assunta’s life emphasizing er availability to serve the orphans, the children of migrants. With gratitude and welcome the Latin American community has rendered and made possible to the Blessed Assunta Marchetti. Italy, arrived new sisters to help migrants in the Mediterranean

Syracuse, the scalabrinian family grows Sister Andri Vilas Boas and Sister Catherine Petalcurin, sisters who are in Rome for a year to have their Congregational Juniorate, arrived in the community of Syracuse on July 1 4 to do a missionary experience in Sicily. Until now, the experience was that of receiving the disembarking migrants, visiting those who are admitted to the hospital, to be close to those who are in one of the squares and streets of the city. In the commercial port of Augusta came a ship packed with refugees rescued at the sea, we were there with other volunteers waiting for the arrival with grateful hearts and available to accommodate everyone who disembarked from the ship. There were more than five hundred. The reception consisted of the offering a bottle of water to welcome and give a smile. In the hospital our daily mission is to visit and help in the necessities that they express. We listen carefully to their stories, we help them wash the bed because they cannot walk,

we contact their families. Those who are walking the streets of the city of Syracuse and the square Pantheon are migrants who aim to continue the trip to meet with their relatives or friends. We put ourselves beside them. We communicate with a few words and gestures. We give answers to basic needs: food, water, clothes and some first aid medicine, guidelines for arriving at the bus station, a few phone calls to their friends or family. Their witness of faith and hope invites us to conversion. We heard a lot of words and seen many gestures that moved us: "You are my family", "Thank the Lord," "Today I read a passage from the Bible that Jesus washed the disciples' feet, you have washed us like Jesus, then Jesus is here," he said. Thank God, thanks to our congregation, thanks to the Church of Syracuse for this opportunity to be Scalabrinian missionary working in this diocese.

Some Resonances about the On-going Formation - 1

God enable me to love as he loves by Sr. Maria Divina F. de Oliveira Porto Velho

It was with great joy and enthusiasm that I put myself available to experience this moment of Congregational on-going formation. The aim of the course was "Renewing and strengthening the identity of the MSCS Sister by knowing the Congregational sources and deepening of the Scalabrinian Spirituality, so she can respond with joy and creative fidelity to the demands of evangelical and missionary service to migrants." The contents that we have studied provided me a deepened and consequently new learning, which motivates me to be a new person and be of service to each other, the other, the migrant...Together with the contents, it made me experience as a pilgrim to know the places where the founder Blessed John Baptist Scalabrini, the Blessed Assunta Marchetti, the Servant of God Father Joseph Marchetti and the Patron St. Charles Borromeo, they lived and the deposit of their faith in God of life, pilgrim to those who left in HOPE. It was wonderful to discover the simplicity, humility and total surrender to God as courageous missionaries who used all their creative potential to respond adequately to the needs of his time. Men and women of life of deep prayer and incarnated in everyday reality that led them to other banks. Simple ones are models for me before the great challenges of migration today. The retreat was a blessing and confirmation that joy is the mark of the Scalabrinian missionary, because God loved us and called for an encounter of love with him, which brings forth our heart the desire to be always open to God's plan. “Yet just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down, and do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, Giving

seed to the one who sows and bread to the one who eats. So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me empty, but shall do what pleases me, achieving the end for which I sent it."(Is 55:1 0 -11 .). I must stress that our group coexistence was welcome, respect, communion and sharing; pray, we cry and most of all rejoice together ... It was really a true laboratory strengthening community life, vocation and consecration! I know what I went through in the formation course, it helps me to be a woman, consecrated, Scalabrinian in the footsteps of the Pilgrim Jesus: In listening, yes, here I am, in welcoming and concrete actions in favor of another, migrants ...My gratitude to God for this gift as well as the collaboration of the Sisters of the Province Mary, Mother of the Migrants and the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo, Scalabrinians! I conclude by singing this song

We happily announce to the world The new path of humanity People united in one family It is the dream of God, will not stop It is the kingdom of God already lives in us 11

Some Resonances about the On-going Formation - 2

To cultuvate autentically scalabrinian spirituality by Sr. Maria Bordignon

The course of Permanent Formation meant an interior journey for me and a push to the research and deepening and of life and the Scalabrinian Mission. It has been 30 days of permanent formation well conducted and animated, that have helped me to see, to evaluate, to put in question my being and to act as Scalabrinian Missionary Sister. The sharing between the participants of nationalities, culture and different languages demonstrated that it is possible to live fraternal love, construct communion and being signs of contradiction. The difference should not create distance and conflict between us because unity lives from a heart that

cultivates love. For this, our Founder, co-Founders and Patron Saint Charles were witnesses in which even today they are alive and present in the fruit of the missionary actions that have been realized in their time. I confess that visiting, seeing, knowing, listening and touching the places where they were born, they have worked i have nurtured sentiments that they have requested me to open and to seek to cultivate a spirituality authentically Scalabrinian. Their way of life pushes me today to the story to live the itinerancy, the welcoming and the communion with the most vulnerable migrants.

Others testimonials... The Congregational On-going Foramtion helped me to further re-enchant in the radical following of Jesus Christ as MSCS Sister. It awakened in me the greatest sense of belonging to the congregational and mission. It was for me an immeasurable gift for this year of Consecrated Life. Our life has meaning only when prayer and mission go together. I love Consecrated Religious Life! For all that has been DEO GRATIAS !!!

My heart sings thanksgiving. My being exults in joy with the marvels of the Lord". The month of permanent congregational formation has brought md to discover the beauty of letting me to love and love without taking nothing. After this month of formation i do not desire another different life. I thank God for being an MSCS! Deo Gratias!

Ongoing formation for the Elderly Sisters of the Province of St. Joseph

Meeting in Casaliggio

The General Animator of Formation, Sr. Etra Modica, implemented the ongoing formation from June 3 to June 5, 201 5 with the Sisters of the community of the Mother House in Piacenza and Casaliggio as required by the six-year period programme. If you were to define the event, you would say it was like a "holy journey" in the stories and in sharing the faith and hope of the Sisters, now advanced in years marked by illness, living religious consecration by accepting the limit and using the remaining funds, investing them in small actions, in prayer, in offering pleasing to God. Truly, the events were moments of celebration, of information about the life of the congregation. It is a time for reflection on issues that Scalabrini characterized as an encounter that reveal the fullness humanity of and its completeness. A simple meeting but that has helped confirm the true identity: our youth is renewed with total adherence to Him, to the end and forever.

Roma, Mayor's special visit... The Mayor of Camaiore, Alessandro Del Dotto visited the General Headquarters at Via di Monte del Gallo last July, where he met with the Superior General, Sr. Neusa de Fรกtima Mariano and her Council. The meeting was held in an atmosphere of simplicity and warmth, recalling the recent celebrations in honor of the Blessed Mother Assunta in Camaiore, highligthening the joyful participation in the city and the involvement of various social and church groups.
