Anticipation and excitement are mounting as the entire SAS community watches the ne Outdoor Learning Center take shape This new structure will be the home of our incredible mountain biking team, as well as house a state-of-the-art wall climbing experience for our climbers This campus addition will greatly enhance our already vibrant outdoor learning programs
Middle school progress reports for quarter 3 are available in CORE. In addition, grade details for all courses remain open to parents and guardians this week so that you can better support your child in making up any missed work due to illness. To see your child’s academic progress, log in to CORE, click on your child’s icon, and go to Progress for grade details or Performance for the middle school progress report.
Parents/guardians of students in grades 6-11 who are in good academic and financial standing began receiving their re-enrollment contracts on Friday, January 31 You will receive an email from the Admission Office when your contract is available in your CORE Parent Portal Contracts issued in January should be completed, signed, and submitted online with a deposit by February 28

On February 7, junior Sarah Russell Leonard and freshman Sam Frazier traveled to Knoxville to compete in the 2025 State Swimming Championships! Both swimmers left the meet with at least one best time Sam dropped 2 seconds in his 100 Fly for a time of 54 14 and 1 second in his 100 Freestyle for a time of 50 20 Sarah Russell had an amazing 100 Fly, dropping 3 seconds from her season best with a time of 1:01 90 She also competed in the 500 FR, just missing a best time by a couple of seconds This is a big and intimidating competition, and we are so proud of these two athletes for qualifying, showing up, and racing their hearts out!
As you may have heard, the Tennessee General Assembly has passed the Tennessee Education Freedom Act of 2025, which expands the availability of state-funded scholarships (vouchers) for families choosing private education This new program offers approximately $7,000 per student, which can be applied toward tuition at eligible private and independent schools, including St Andrew’s-Sewanee School
We do not yet have all of the details regarding the process of applying for the scholarships, as the bill is not in its final form We bring this to your special attention so that you educate yourself on the program, as families will be awarded these vouchers on a first-come, first-serve basis, as the pool is limited to 20,000 scholarships statewide We will update you as best we can on our end as the bill becomes law and the process for applying for the scholarship becomes clear Here are a couple of websites that seem to be helpful: Education Freedom and Chalkbeat Tennessee

The Rt Rev John Bauerschmidt, Bishop of Tennessee, will join us in Chapel on Wednesday, April 2 In addition to being an opportunity to connect us to the larger community of Episcopal churches in Tennessee, this will be a chance for interested students to be confirmed or baptized in the Episcopal Church Confirmation classes began the week of February 3 If you are interested in being confirmed or baptized, or if you want to learn more about Christianity and the Episcopal Church please contact Mother Short
On Tuesday, February 4, the SAS community gathered in the gym to celebrate the wrestling team's four senior athletes; Stella Wilson, Julia Sumpter, Tom Karanja, and Jack Hale. The team showed off their skills in one-on-one competitive matches and, in what was a very special show, choreographed matches to show off some more complex and intricate skills.
